Woodson didn't make adjustments during the playoffs; that's been talked to death on here. Woodson claims he's about accountability but he didn't hold stat accountable yesterday and kept him in the game when Jorts was rebounding and playing defense. He didn't hold JR accountable either. During post game interviews, he talks about ball movement but that doesn't happen during games. That's a contradiction.

Stop di*ckriding Woodson, he's not that much better than D'antoni.

Why would D'Antoni have to change what he was doing when the team was winning with defense and team offense before Melo came back and trashed everything??? Instead Melo dogged it and MDA gave up trying to get him to buy in. Woody does exactly what Melo wants and Melo plays like he actually gives a damn for the 1st time all year. The problem is Melo Ball isn't good for the team. Some fans got all excited by the winning streak and refused to look at the real issues the team had with a Melo dominated offense.

Melo is a fool to have rejected what MDA was trying to get him to learn. The Same way he was a fool to have resisted what Karl was trying to teach him. Melo could have an entirely different reputation if he did. He'd be considered a winner if he actually learned how to make his teammates better and played team BB within a system. People bring up Kobe, but really why not bring up Pierce or Reggie Miller. These are guys that get it done within a team concept.

Why don't you also mention that STAT and Melo weren't playing and we didn't yet have Baron or JR. It didn't matter who we were playing when with Melo we had been losing to any team good or bad. The thing is that the strength of schedule shouldn't matter at all if we have Melo playing like he did the very day that MDA resigned. If Melo isn't acting like a little girl for 10 games the Knicks would've wont the Atlantic. There's no joke or clever line you can write that will change that fact. NJ - Deron made Lin look dumb and he was pissed - Melo's first game back from injury - Lin 7-18, JR 2-8, Novak 3-10, melo 4-11
@Miami - figured out that if you trapped Lin, he pretty much gives you the ball and can't make any plays. Teams quickly followed suit

You do realize that Woody had not even had one practice with the team before Melo decided to play like he got shot with Steroids. Dude went from moping around like a neglected step child to suddenly defending like his life depended on it.

Not really, but that's the assumption by some after the Knicks have gone 3-0 with three double-digit wins after D'Antoni resigned and assistant Mike Woodson took over. Thing is, the team is essentially still running the D'Antoni pick-and-roll system and playing basically the same style. Except they're playing better.

Why? I guess the obvious answer would be that they're playing harder. Or at least that's pretty much what Carmelo Anthony implied, speaking mostly about himself. Via Newsday:

“I think in the last three games, my focus was to have an energy that I haven't had so far this season, especially on the defensive end,” he said. “Everybody on this team knows, everybody in the world knows I can score the basketball. It's not that important to me.”

Awesome. So Melo wasn't trying for D'Antoni, but he is now for Woodson. I guess maybe that's a credit to Woodson for motivating Melo, but it shouldn't take a coaching change for Anthony to play hard. He's making a whole lot of money and his team is losing. He's supposed to be the best player, supposed to be the leader. It shouldn't take something as dramatic as a coaching change for him to play hard. Basically, Melo is admitting he quit on D'Antoni.

So you're saying that Melo was busting it and basically lied on himself when he later said he decided to play with a new found energy that he hadn't had all year.

Also Woody was here ALL YEAR so if the team wasn't performing on D what the F was he doing and why doesn't he get any blame for what was mostly his responsibility to focus on getting the players to defend.

Bump....the above is part of the reason why Lin must have been pissed at Woodson following the season (and this is consistent with all of the reports that the exit interview didn't go well with Lin). For all of the blame Dolan/Grunwald/Melo will get for the Lin situation, Woodson deserves a lot of it as well.

It was clear from the start that he was never a big fan of Lin and after today, it will be that much clearer once we let him walk.

How do I know Mike Woodson is a better fit in New York?

He has veterans who understand how to communicate. Woodson also does an excellent job of making his agenda clear. He is old school enough to channel Red Holzman and new school enough to relate to yoots. How cool is that?

One more thing, I have met and talked with Mike Woodson.
