You don't think Iman Shumpert will be healthy by the playoffs let alone this December?
1. the obvious: he can get a buttload more money elsewhere—plus he just got a divorce so he's going to need the cash
2. Stat isn't the same player he was when they played together in phoenix
3. Woody isn't a PG focused coach like MDA
4. are the knicks really going to win a championship while he's still playing?
5. he's well aware of the PG curse that bestows the knicks.
i say bring him in if he brings the Phoenix medical staff with him

You just watch and see how much of a difference it will make to have a threat at the PG spot again. Novak really will be able to get open if you have a penetrating and dishing PG running the show. This team just couldn't draw any defenders away with Bibby and Baron. You need a PG that can be a legit threat but also has the ability to make the quick and accurate pass so that Novak can get off faster. That and perhaps using more screens so he can get that split second he needs. I just don't understand why Woody didn't use more screens for his best shooter!!!

I think the premise of Novak not getting open was that defenses could just concentrate on Melo and not leaving him... there was no other options for the Knicks. i.e. they had no PG that could break down the D and thus create a situation whereby defenses would have to rotate and leave SOMEONE open.

It does help to have a healthy point guard to break the defense down, so they can't face guard the outside shooters as much. Either way, if they do resign Novak, it won't be for much anyways, and when he does take his shots, he usually makes them. Knicks have bigger fish to fry in free agency, and hopefully in 2 weeks we'll hear some good news from the mediation.

i am pointing out why a back court of Nash and Lin, would not work vs great defensive teams, and would be a nightmare for us defensively vs many playoff contenders.
If we actually do have a way to preserve our MLE, while keeping Lin/Novak, there are a couple players I would prefer to use it on, given our holes needed.
This would be the last MLE we would have to use, so we have to use it wisely.
Either with a young player or a player that would magnify our strengths, be an impact player that is capable of starting for us or/and 6th man- with defense, and can spread the floor.

We will get Mini MLE's to use after this year, like what the Heat used for Battier.
Jorts can shoot and looks like he has been developing some post moves, but with his weight, and lack of quickness/speed, he is a backup center not a PF because he can't guard them.
Will he improve and lose more weight this summer? I don't know, but he looks more like a slightly poorer version of young Detroit, Mehmet Okur.
He doesn't have the ability to be a good shot blocker but I like what he brings. Just want to point this out for people that want him to play PF when he cannot on most nights, especially if playing with another slow center like Tyson Chandler.
I really want to solidify our defense, a shot blocker that is capable of playing with Tyson Chandler *Ak47* and another for our bench Camby/Osik or someone above.
We really need someone else that can sneak in to do the dirty work when teams are focused on boxing out Tyson Chandler.
