If Lin and Novak lose arbitration would you rather the Knicks use one of their exceptions to bring back Novak or go after a Lamar Odom/Ray Allen??

If thats the case bring back lin novak odom and just draft a young pg or pick one up from dleague. See with Odom you know what he is capable of. There are such few quality pgs that it can be a complete waste of rozter place actually signing one as a free agent. If we win the case see my sig

i thought if we lose the case we can only have 2 exceptions to use: one on Lin and the other on
a) Novak
OR
b) Odom
OR
c) Jesus

ALso, in regards to your sig, i think JR has a player option so it's all up to him, not the Knicks unless Woody says walk cuz I won't play you but that's not happening because of Woody's mancrush on JR
Ray allen is shot. He is what 37? And a microfracture, torn acl back surgery first week of next season away from being forced to retire and collect like H20 , LJ and mcdyess

If its only one acquisition, that can change our franchise, I think we need more than C) Jesus....
We need
GOD

or if we can't bring in quality players we'll need our so called Big 3 to all improve in the ways you mentioned:
Amare has to develop a post game a la Al Jefferson. I'm fairly confident he'll find the mid range game he lost last season.
If Melo wants the ball in the post all the time he's gotta become a much better passer out of double teams a la Vlade/CWebb/etc
If Melo wants to be the one to chuck up 3s when we need them he has to get more consistent and start hitting something close to 40%
Lin's gotta improve in a lot of areas.
I would add Shump to the list and I was really looking forward to seeing what he looked like after an offseason to work on his game but...well you know

If Novak can learn how to get open shots and we actually run plays for him then I'd keep Novak. His shooting ability is incredibly rare. If he's going to be the same Novak from the playoffs who can't get a shot off then I'd go with Odom.

I really want both with primarily novak at back sf and odom backup pf. Interchangeable but if it comes down to one or the other give me odom. More versatile and will do wonders for our defense, rebounding and ball movement

Terrence Williams is a player I would seek, if we miss out on Odom.
He can be for the cheap, while we need a G/F with PG skills to help facilitate, and penetrate...
Zwerling is pretty confident that well resign novak lin and jr...the only question is how much lin asks for. That will determine how much money there is to sign free agents.
Again i love lin but is he worth >$5 mill based on 25 games???

Odom > Novak not even a question.

From what I saw HELL YES!!! Lin answered a lot of questions. Could he run a team? could he shoot consistently well? Could he defend (I know he wasn't always solid, but he had some eye opening defensive performances too. His D on Brandon Jennings was amazing late in one game we played the Bucks)? Is he a clutch performer? Could he handle the pressure of NY? I think he grew a lot and has a TON of upside in terms of him learning the game and limiting mistakes. When healthy teams had to focus their entire defense on him to try and keep him from being effective. Mostly it didn't work!!!

leaning towards Odom as well. Just a better player and defender though I'm sure we'll all miss that collective anticipation at the Garden when we see Novak catch the ball behind the arc

I for one will not be upset AT ALL if they sign Lin to a long term deal worth more than $5 mil the first year and he's a complete bust. It's a chance any GM should make given the circumstances and the possibilities.
it looks like all signs are pointing to the knicks keeping Lin and Novak. Also it seems like JR wants to stay in NYC. If thats the case here is our depth:
PG Lin/(Shump)/Bibby or TDoug
G Fields/JR Smith
SF Melo/Novak
PF STAT/(______)
C Chandler/(_______)
for some reason, i still havent given up on TDoug. Shump will be out for the 1st 2 months. Lets at least give him a shot at back up PG (at 10mins/game). If that doesnt work, use Bibby.
the spots we need to fill our back up C and PF...(i love JJ but hes injury prone). Thats why I say we should go after camby and odom
guys we werent that far off...if you extrapolate our record; we had a 45 win season which is solid. we just got screwed by playing miami in the 1st rd (stupid cleveland loss!). we have a good team, just need to get healthy and add some front court depth (please dont talk about jorts, hes a scrub)

Again, any thought that we should not sign him is based on some sort of expectation of him being a savior.
And yes, if he is a bust it was a risk worth taking. We have done far worse than sign a good kid who works his ass off and is a genuine type good teammate.
I doubt we get a "Linsane" run but the kid if a solid 14-7 with 2 turn overs per game would go a long way to helping this team. We know he does not buckle under pressure.

Yup. It seems if you ask people making $20M a year to play both sides of the ball and win some games for us you are asking for way too much, but if a guy with total of 25 games experience in the NBA cant put 25-12 per game, he isn't even worth 5M. Talk about double standards!
My dream scenario is the Knicks win in court re-sign Lin and Novak ,JR picks up his option, sign Steve Nash to the mid level and Ray Allen for veteran minimum and jettison Landry Fields i'm done with that dude.
