Knicks · **** Phil Jackson (page 3)
Jackson said that the reason he didn’t take the Magic job is that it was too far from his home in Montana. Reports indicated that one of the issues between the Magic and Jackson was that they wanted him in the office and he wanted to telecommute. 21st Century and all.

Whereas I think he wanted to coach the Knicks but would never be given the type of control he had in LA, by baby Huey and isiah. Are you talking about a more authoritarian coach? Stat, and Melo both said what they like about Woodson is that he holds guys accountable. Remember Melo was asked if D'Antoni did that and he said that was not him.

WOW!!! I'm rarely shocked but this is something extraordinary. Did you just TOTALLY miss the point of the conversation or what??? MDA didn't just resign for no reason. He had just come off a great run and all everyone was talking about was would Melo ruin Linsanity! There were tons of people who predicted that Melo would kill Linsanity in the crib and only after that happened did MDA resign. That 2-8 stretch after Melo came back is exactly the kind of coach killing crap that a guy like PJax would want no part of. Why in the hell would he accept a job with a control freak owner and a coach killing star?
Look Melo is a very talented player and he's the best player on the team, so we have to hope for him to succeed. However, we don't have to like his antics and his refusal to buy into a team concept. PJax complained when Kobe acted selfishly and i'm sure he sees an even worse situation with Melo. TEAM BALL wins in this league, even if you have a weak team like the Heat. You still have to have a scheme that is about sharing the ball and being efficient. Melo-ball is not efficient. Don't let his hot close to the season trick you into thinking that is a winning formula. PJax is a bit of a jerk, but he's right about what he said regarding STAT and Melo.

Two things another coach tried to make Melo do pretty recently. Phil is aware of how that ended in NY. And he understood he would have the same fate because the inmates in charge of the asylum are going to throw out anyone their precious little diva bitch doesn't agree with.
I agree with both of you. I am not a Phil Jackson fan either but I have to agree with him. Superstars have become so big-headed that they can cause their coaches fired. This has happened a lot in recent years. What happened to the good old days when the coach is respected and listened to?
You mean the days when Magic and Jordan got their coaches fired?
The classic argument. Magic and Jordan so it must be the right thing to do. This league is a joke and fans who support this type of rationale are the reason why.
WOW!!! I'm rarely shocked but this is something extraordinary. Did you just TOTALLY miss the point of the conversation or what???
LOL. You can't have a conversation with someone so blinded by hate. And he has obviously decided to carry the MDA baggage for the rest of his life, hope it serves him well.
Seems like a bitter old man. It's sad, because he used to be a good poster. I will continue to keep him on ignore, wish it would work on "quoted" posts as well.
sure ignore the fact that the entire team was injured but Melo
we get it the following people are to blame:
melo
woodson
amare
dolan
eddy curry
jerome james

Also he claims we are so much better yet we won one damn playoff agme and also gave away the cavs game that could have gotten us a betetr seed. Phil knows there is a reason why George Karl is still talking about melo to this day and MDA resigned. Its unfortunate because even though im not a Jackspn fan obviously he would bring championship credibility even though i like Woodson. But looks like at best we will get to the second round i guessblackisblack wrote:Honestly, I don't think Phil Jackson is playing hard to get. I believe he really doesn't want to coach Knicks. It's not like he needs more rings or more money. He's already rich and retired. And when you are in his position, you can say what you want and not give a damn.Whereas I think he wanted to coach the Knicks but would never be given the type of control he had in LA, by baby Huey and isiah. He said clearly that the only way to make this work is for Melo to play team oriented basketball and NOT rely on isolation plays. He also mentioned Melo needs to PASS the ball more.
