Knicks · Bucks trade for Samuel Dalembert (page 1)

The Rockets have traded Samuel Dalembert and the No. 14 pick to the Bucks in exchange for the No. 12 pick, Jon Brockman, Jon Leuer and Shaun Livingston.
This seems like a slam dunk for Milwaukee. The draft pick difference is minimal, Brockman and Leuer are both low-end NBA power forwards (an overflowing position for the Bucks), Livingston was expendable, and the Bucks address their most glaring roster need: a quality starting center. Dalembert (who will earn $6.7 million in the final year of his deal) immediately slots into the C position ahead of Ekpe Udoh, Larry Sanders and Drew Gooden, and he should easily exceed the 22 minutes per game he averaged for Houston last season.

Bucks now have to legit shot blocking PF/C that run well for big man with Edoh and Dalembert, while moving 2 picks down, they might lose the ability to sign one of the top 3 Centers in the draft, after Drummond, Tyler Zeller, and Meyers Leonard. Edoh and Dalembert are not in the group of post option offense of old school centers but are very efficient in terms of payroll, shot blocking ability, defense, rebounding, and running the court as a big man. They can instead use their pick to land a backup PG, G/F, and PF.

Their team is currently quite set in all positions

Jennings/ Udrih
Monta
Dunleavey/ Luc Mbah a Moute
Gooden
Dalembert/Edoh

With UFA in Ilyasova and Delfino, and RFA in Jennings

really hope we can add Ilyasova with the MLE.

But their team can look to go small, big, with 4 shooters, and a semi post player in Gooden.
Goodens days at Center look to be gone, something they were effective in doing last season.
But now they have 2 legit shot blockers to add to their lineups.

With Ilyasova able to play both Forward spots, with his great length, and range.
Dunleavey has been one of the best shooters in the league, with good size versatility, and defense/rebounds if healthy
He is much skilled than Novak, while shooters could always be used.
Wouldn't be surprised if they targeted Novak instead of resigning Delfino, Novak's home town.
Their pick now could be used to add to their depth.
IF they resign Ilyasova, they will have a lot of versatile players and lineups to play with. While still having a MLE to work with.
Whether Jennings gets extended, with Monta Ellis's still on contract will now be a greater question if Marshall was selected...
Udrih with a contract year salary of 7.8m could be a trade bait or even an amnesty target, to save room if they want to lock down Jennings for their future.
Draft pick could range from many players including...

Kendall Marshall
Terrence Ross

Sullinger
Perry Jones

Looks like a salary dump for the Rockets and they move up 2 spots. Bucks get a servicable guy for a reasonable amount after the Bogut trade.

They might lose their starting power forward IylaWhatever so they needed size.

Slam dunk for Milwaukee? Dalemert?

I think this is is great move for Bucks, they have a lot of versatile players, if they can resign Ilyasova.
Dunleavy and Ilyasova both have great length, all round games, and high IQ, and to have great range to spread the floor.
While Jennings and Monta Elllis both have good penetration ability to go with good range and can create their own shots as well as create for their shooters to spread their floor.

I think they can be a top 4 team in the East, if they can make resign Ilyasova, and make can find another 2 way player to spread the floor.
Gooden could be expendable now or add to their depth and versatility that they have.
Dunleavey has a good passing game, great versatility playing SF, SF, and some PF with his length and can help facilitate as a starter or 6th man type role, and is one of the deadliest shooters in the league.

Rumor is Rockets might amnesty Kevin Martin as well.

Everyone is focused on he bucks. They got dalembert a marginal player...who cares...i think the big move is houston going up in the draft...seems like theyre determined to trade at least 10 draft pics for djoward

Dalembert sucks, don't be fooled by his mediocre stats. Sixer fans absolutely hated him, Kings fans hated him, and then after less than a full season the rockets have traded him. I don't like that Bucks roster at all.

Wonder what the rockets end game is and whether morey can pull it off- he only ever seems to make middling moves for picks, never manages to get the big time player. Maybe this is finally his year...

Monta/Jennings
Duneavey/Jennings
Ilyasova/ Mbah a Moute/Dunleavy
Edoh/ Gooden/ Ilyasova
Dalembert/Edoh

Do you know how hard it will be to score against this type of defense.
They all have sick length/reach, have good size, and speed/quickness.
Without adding their draft pick and MLE target, they have versatile players that can switch lineups/positions, with shooters, and defenders, changing the tempo the game.

Dalembert's job is the rebound, run the floor, protect the paint and 2nd chance points. He moves well for a 6'11 guy with other players on the team that have great length and defense/shot blocking ability.
Most importantly, they are all versatile and can come in playing different positions, while help covering one another.

Monta and dunleavy don't equate to defense

Do the Bucks have any sort of plan? They've been hovering around .500 for a couple of years now and I don't see how they're improving with this move. Monta Ellis and Brandon Jennings don't make sense in the backcourt together, they're about to lose Ilyasova, and Dalembert is a barely marginal player.

This all depends if Ilyasova resigns with the Bucks or not.
He would be the key with his length and range.

Still wouldn't be a team that's going to challenge for a championship anytime soon. At best, they look like a poor man's version of the Atlanta Hawks.

we got blown out by them 3/4 games we played or was it 2/3.
Anyway, my point is that they are much better.
They didn't acquire a shot blocker till last season, now they have 2 with Dalembert, and Ilyasova can play the 3/4.
They still have a lotto draft pick and might be deciding who to keep with Jennings or Monta Ellis as their future.
So midget basketball my not be on the radar, Dunleavey might not be very quick but he is a great 6th to have on a team.
With the MLE to use, with this many shooters in the FA, they have the ability to stretch the floor with 4 shooters, with shooters on the bench.

We played them four times and went 2-2; we lost by 14 and 5 points. The addition of Dalembert, a marginal player, isn't going to improve the team by much, they're still going to struggle to even make the playoffs.

Yeah i agree...im not scared of the bux

Bucks hell bent on getting the 8th seed.

I agree. I don't consider Dalembert a marginal player. Adding quality size to an already competitive roster is huge.

Ha, looks like Morey failed once again- all he seems to be able to do is trade for mid to late first round picks picks and draft under rated forwards. He traded Dalambert and Chase Budinger for pretty much nothing- what the heck was the point in moving up from 14 to 12? You'd of thought he'd have the final trade lined up before pulling the trigger on the build up moves.

Still, I like watching him fail since he played such hard ball with Walsch on the Jordan Hill trade and then gloated about it afterwards.
