Knicks · OK, Glen...WHO is your choice for the Full MLE? (page 1)

KNICKSBIGCATS @ 7/3/2012 2:37 PM
That really is the fallout from the Raptors/Landry Fields signed offer sheet.
What's your plan, Glen?
crzymdups @ 7/3/2012 2:42 PM
Al Iannazzone ‏@Al_Iannazzone

Raymond Felton very much on the Knicks' radar and might be their best option if Nash picks Toronto or other teams.

Options?
Louis Williams-Early termination option
JR Smith
Shannon Brown
Nick Young
OJ Mayo
Leandro Barbosa
Randy Foye
Raymond Felton
gunsnewing @ 7/3/2012 2:45 PM
PG in this order:
Kidd
Calderon although he prob goes to phx for Nash
Felton - wont be the same Felton we remember but probably our best option. Although I see him going to the Lakers if they dont get Dragic

Then sign Camby and a SG
Foye
Belinelli
Lou will
Mayo
Greens
Lee etc

Long shot Kevin Martin

Let JR walk if he doesnt taje $2.8mil

We will be looking up at miami, brooklyn & boston but we'll just have to hope for the best.

Unless we blow this thing up and rebuild for another 5-20yrs

crzymdups @ 7/3/2012 2:56 PM
Yeah, Kidd and Felton have to be top two PG options.

Though the Knicks will probably still use the $3M MLE, not the $5M MLE. using the full MLE brings the Knicks to the $74M hard cap which would screw them if someone offers Lin a poison pill deal, which Houston seems like it's going to do.

Also, Knicks chasing Weems, probably for the LLE?

Seth Rosenthal ‏@seth_rosenthal

Good! RT @Chris_Broussard: Cleveland, New York have shown interest in Raptors' restricted free agent Sonny Weems, sources say.

Let JR walk if he doesn't accept 2.8?

With our now desperate situation in the backcourt,
I don't see how we could possibly let JR Smith walk.
We know that he fits with Melo and he seems to like it here.
Signing him is a priority at this point.
In light of apparently losing Fields,
we need to up the ante a bit for him.

If not doable, I like Shannon Brown's game as a fit for us.

gunsnewing @ 7/3/2012 3:29 PM
Does jr fit with melo? He sure as hell doesnt fit with amare, lin & melo otherwise he would have started over fields in the playoffs. He is a volume shooter. Terrible fit with the stars on this team that need the ball and have a hard enough time sharing 1 ball
Jmpasq @ 7/3/2012 3:31 PM
We are going to get Raymond Felton and all the vet mins that want to be in NY will go to the Nets

Don't put words in my mouth and read my post, Guns.
I never said anything about fitting with Amare or Lin or about starting.
He does fit with Melo (and they know each other's game well) and he provides needed scoring off the bench along with Novak. He has also shown the ability to play decent defense.

We have to agree to disagree then. Unless he takes the 2.8 qualifying offer we can use a more efficient shooter at the sg position especially with shump out. I dont mind bringing jr back at 2.8 off the bench. Maybe he wants to be in new york but we need someone at sg who fits with the rest of the starting lineup to starr until shump returns. We need tk surround lin, meli & amare with more efficient shooters period. Even if its a 3pt specialist like foye. Its about balance. Fields is gone so they def need a starting sg

Knixkik @ 7/3/2012 3:58 PM
Obviously we must make sure JR Smith is locked up. Still a good shooter, creater, and solid defender.

OJ Mayo
Randy Foye
Gerald Green
Daniel Green
Shannon Brown

are all decent options. Felton is a decent option but i would rather have a SG.

gunsnewing @ 7/3/2012 4:01 PM
We need pg, sg & pf. And we have the asset. If Brooklyn gets howard then we are screwed and nothing else matters. Becomes a mute point

Agree to disagree-fine.
I feel that it's tough to judge JR based on the limited amount of games that he played
with us last year and the fact that both Lin and Amare were injured for some of that time.
And, I have two things to add.
(1) We're not even sure that Lin will be here....in fact, it's beginning to look questionable.
(2) NOBODY on this team is a fit with Amare. NOBODY.

Hey Guns.......We agree!
BTW, it's moot point.

CrushAlot @ 7/3/2012 4:12 PM
I was going to add Reggie Evans it the nets are getting him
knickscity @ 7/3/2012 8:10 PM
OP said FULL MLE.

We won't use that.
