JR tweeted to the effect that he wanted to stay today. A lot of the Knicks were thrilled about the move. Including Shump.
But, yeah, I think it might attract some other vets. I'd love to snag Camby.
I'd also like to sign Shawne Williams. Just think he's a good defender and shooter. He can defend power forwards, which makes him a decent backup for Amar'e.

Oh get off of that, all of you. Just get off of it. The worst case for an argument I ever heard of. Put down your crystal ball and your Xbox 360 remote and get a grip.

Younger, better shooter, and he's not terrible with the ball in his hands. Basically, he's a better version of JR.
Younger doesn't get you points. If it did, we could get 5 year olds to play for us. Terrible with ball in hands? Like most fans, you're paying too much attention to "skill" and too little to outcome. The skill matters only if it gives you some tangible better outcome. Kidd actually had a slightly higher true shooting %. I still don't see anything Mayo does well.
I haven't seen a lot of Mayo, how is he defensively?
syniko...its not a valid argument?
im not even a kidd hater...i think its a valid argument to worry about a 40 yr old player in the NBA..and on top of that giving him a 3 yr contract..he CANT play d..too old for lateral quickness...he could never shoot...he can always pass and hes cerebral so thats what he can offer
im HOPING...CROSSING MY FINGERS that this is actually a sign and trade...if we lose the MLE $3mill on him then were screwed..
crazymgups made some good points...if kidd can attract other FA to come for cheap then hes worth it

he solid on D, but he's ball dominant and looks for his own shot. kinda plays like he's kobe without the same results. he tried to be a PG and was thought to have that skillset, but he's not a great passer and was never able to develop a good handle.
i like him as a prospect... though he's prob not what this team needs most.
Kidd rebounds and throws an outlet pass like noone else in the league. Melo and JR better get rdy to Sprint down the court !!! Lin will learn plenty. Kidd plays d. Lateral quickness be dammed, he wount letguys post him up on a switch and he still gets steals. Adding him brings up Melo, Amare and Chandlers PPG by like 2 points each. He is one of the best PnR PGs still. Can't wait for this to be official.

Good thing they both cherry pick all the time.

Knicks are stupid and the coach is not committed to starting Lin. But none of this makes any sense anymore. If Lin leaves, I'll definitely take a break from watching pro-ball. My interest has waned considerably as is. So - whatever.
Where have you ever gotten the idea that Woodson isn't committed to Lin?

Woodson did make a weird offhand remark that Lin would have to earn the starting PG role next season at one point towards the end of the season.
But then the next time he spoke about it he said Lin was "definitely his starter"... grunwald probably slapped him.
I think the Lin / Woodson friction, if there was any, had more to do with Woodson always defering to Melo and Melo definitely wanted the ball in his hands more than Lin's.
That's why I've come to really like the Kidd signing. It brings in a leader who will have Lin's back and have enough sway to tell Melo what to do.
I think this could be exactly what Melo needs on the floor (think Billups) and because of that and for other reasons it'll help Lin a lot, too.

Sign and trade him to Houston like BRIGGS suggests for Jeremy Lamb and #1 pick.

Lol, true, but I hope they fully take advantage of easy points from Kidd's outlet passes. Lin, Novak and eventually Shump will benefit as well.
I thought about Billy the Kidd, and I think this is good move overall as long as we get Lim back. I am hoping it means Amare spends more time with second unit with Kiddo. That may keep our second unit scoring very efficient, while Melo and Lin can handle the first unit scoring if Woody can teach them to play together.
But if Amare moves to 2nd unit who is our third big in the first unit assuming JR is the 2? We lost Fields and if Melo plays PF who will play SF? BTW -I still think Amare should start but I think him playing majority minutes with Kidd and Novak can be potent.

I've wanted our starting unit to be Lin, Shump, Novak, Melo, and Tyson with Amare and JR coming off the bench for a while now.

He was asked of Lin would start and he said "maybe".
I don't know what else to take away from that. This was reported early on in the offseason.

I like the idea of Shawne Williams coming back for the vet min. He just got bought out by Portland. He can hit the corner 3 to give Melo and Lin space and a target to kick out to. He's also a good defender and can guard most PFs pretty well.
I also want Jeffries back. He's a defensive wizard and highly valuable.

“Absolutely he’s going to be back,’’ Woodson said at Ahmad Rashad’s charity golf outing in Scarsdale that raised $300,000 for White Plains Hospital. “We like what he brings to the table. He’s our starting point guard. He’s a young point guard who’s still learning, and he’s going to be better. That’s what happens to good, young players. If they work at their craft, they’ll be much better for it. Absolutely, he wants to be here.’’
Can we get kmart now to piss of the nets and fishmike

Me too, but for all the opportunity he had Woody never putsLin and Novak on the floor together and I doubt he would ever actually start Novak. It may end up being Jeffries out there for defense which is OK with me.

Yeah, I read that too. I do think he will start Lin, I don't think he is committed to the idea at least of his own volition. We'll see.

Jeffries -- we were thinking along the same lines.
Extra-E is available? Didn't know that I would like him too. But damn, Odom woulda been nice.
