Couldn't go wrong with either, but i would pick Kidd.

I'd take Kidd because of his defense. Dude carried the Nets with players whose ceilings we've all seen to the Finals TWICE!

Probably strong words on my part because I like Nash, who is a great player and may be the funniest guy in the league based on some of the things I've seem from him.

What I was reacting to was the comment about Kidd getting beat in the finals twice during his prime, and looking at the fact that if Nash was to get a title at this point with the Lakers, he would not be the top dog on that team. I thought the poster I was commenting on had dismissed Kidd's accomplishment with the Nets.

I think people will be telling their kids about both guys for a long tie. Top 10 easily all time.

I'd put The Glove somwheres in there. He had Kidd defense with Nash offensive ability. I think both were better passers but no1 talked trash like the Glove.

Kidd I don't even like him.

Even now with both being quality pg's but a little pass there prime..kidd to me has been the smartest PG in the league for a while, but nash can run an offense better then any other pg in the league not name chris paul. no player has shot the ball better(nash) from the perimeter since MJ..

Just curious to know what some of you think

I'd Pick Kidd
Nash in prime was during MDA tenure & Suns success never got out of west to a nba final
Nash great fast player growing & leading in PG stats

think Kidd in prime led in many PG stats ..suppose to be assists PG leader? or close to record
2 NJ Nets team to elite status, 2 nba finals with Nets though lost to LAL & SPURs 2 teams both
owning what? 8-10 NBA titles between each organization

even after losing & no more of same Nets teams Kidd Led NJ to beatups of decent playoff teams then
such as the then Pistons, Pacers, Celtics ,Bucks prior to leaving NJ.

Both Nash and Kidd are future HOF

thats true, but keep in mind it has been pointed out that nash took a bench sqaud to a 55 win season, in a western conference that wasn't nearly a cake walk like the east..

More importantly, who's better now even though there pretty much the same age..Nash is still putting up starters numbers while kidd does't every now and then..

I was just looking at some clips of kidd last season, and despite his numbers falling off, he's still the smartest pg in the league..

here's the best part, when ever MIAMI has to face 2 pgs on the court with a spot up shooter, there dreadful..Even worse when you also have a slasher like fields in the rotation cause they trap so much.

Nash was a little better in half court offense but fast break, rebounding, defense...I would go Kidd.

This is really a testament to his greatness. He did this twice and somehow was never mentioned as an mvp candidate. Kidd was the more complete player, Nash was better shooter.

Kidd in his prime was slightly better due to his size and defense. Right now though Nash is the better player.

Agreed, Nash hasn't shown much of a decline, while Kidd has shown it already, and is older.
While Kidd can play better defense and coexist with Lin for some minutes, Nash is the superior PG at this stage of their careers.
It is irrelevant, that Kidd was once a triple double threat, and lead The Nets, to championships because it was THAT LONG AGO.

Nash hasn't shown much of a decline and still looks great but he would not be able to coexist with Lin together on the floor together.
I am happy we were able to keep Iman, even though I understand, we are gambling that he will return back stronger one day.
Iman has shown the ability to be a hybrid of Rose/Westbrook's rookie years, and they improved every year since.
His rookie year was very comparable to those "All Stars", if it wasn't for such a serious injury.
The injury is very crucial to his development, we don't know if he WILL recover.
But he has the killer instinct, dedication, heart, and worth ethic, that an "all star" has.
We all know, Iman will continue to dedicate himself, rehab, train, and I don't want to lose that type of player.

Kidd, he took a second rte Nets team to the finals twice - Kidd has the ability to impose his will on ateam and kind of force them to win. I haven't seen that in too many players outside of Kobe, MJ, Shaq etc. Yes Nash makes everyone better, Kidd makes everyone care about winning within the context of a game. Exactly what Melo needs in my opinion. I am very happy with this signing.

Both Kidd and Nash, are both generals, on and off the court.
No doubt about it, as a basketball player, Nash can still physically run a team, while Kidd no longer can.
Kidd however plays much less minutes but can defend SG/SF with his size/strength while Nash will get killed by anyone.

I feel we should get another apprentice with potential, so Kidd can mentor him.
I am not sure if it should be a undrafted PG like Machado or a player like Terrence Williams.

Or even players like Randy Foye, Nate Robinson, Danny Green, Gary Neal....

The other thing I liked about Kidd over Nash is that it doesn't have that trickle down negative effect: No Shump included, and no other parts that can possibly be used to snag Camby (Gaz, Jorts, TD).
