since dahntay jones is likely out of the picture after indy traded him to dallas for ian mahinimi, who should we target now?
i've seen a bunch of posters pining for raja bell - he wouldn't be a bad chance, although i think he has his eyes set on going to LAL (kobe and him are buddies).
i was thinking terrence williams. he's had a real slow start to his career, but whenever he's played he;s played well. his attitude is questionable, but might be worth taking a flyer on him in hopes woodson can get through to him. he's unrestricted, athletic, can shoot, can handle and can play defense.
theres also the possibility of matching the raptors offer to fields. personally i'd pass.
who else we thinking?
I just posed raja bell on the other thread. Bring CD-R back to NBA?
Shump might be ahead of schedule, FWIW
Al Iannazzone
Mike Woodson said Iman Shumpert might be ahead of schedule in his rehab from knee surgery. Shumpert said he wouldn’t come back until he’s 100 percent and pointed to January. But he’s with the Knicks summer league team in Las Vegas, continuing his rehab. “He’s still in his brace,” Woodson said. “He’s moving around awfully well. I’d like to say he’s ahead of schedule. Maybe I’m jumping the gun a little bit too. He’s doing everything that’s asked of him in terms of his rehab. Hopefully he’ll be back on the floor soon.”
Cue great call on CDR! I always liked him.
Bell is a real good option too. Can you imagine him teaching Shump some defensive tricks of the trade?
Mayo is still out there too maybe he is getting desperate....
Someone mentioned Rush too. Another good option if we can swing it.
Are we talking about our 10th or 11th man ?
I think novak may be able to be backup SG in a pinch
We're talking 13th-15th man. DEEEEEP Bench, as in don't even get dressed deep. For this purpose, I like the idea of bringing in a couple of journeymen who are looking into making a transition into coaching in the next few years.
Raja Bell is a strong option for 13th man.
The only really young players are Lin and Shumpert, with in-their-prime veterans in all the key spots, plus Camby/Kidd as geriatric twilight role players.
Melo
Amare
Chandler
Smith
Lin
Novak
Camby
White
Kidd
Shump
Jared Jeffries
Prigioni

The age is a worry. And tat was big part of why I suggested CD-R
Minnesota has committed more in free agent salary than they have in cap space. They need to unload any contract possible to clear up space, and Gadzuric's non-guaranteed deal could help a lot. If we take back Wayne Ellington and Malcomb Lee for Gadzuric it would save them 2 million in salary and bring us back a pure SG in Ellington and a versatile defender in Lee. Just an idea.

I was thinking the same thing.

we could only take one of their salaries.
I couldn't find out how much $ did we actually give Houston for the Camby trade, I heard different stories all over.
At first it was TD's salary(his salary is barely over 2m), I also saw the full 3m, or a little less than 3m, and all sorts of things within these past couple of days.
We cannot use that money to add more salary to take back, it is only an incentive to give a team, but hey money is money.
We also have no legit post up threats, JJ could be thrown in with Gadzuric, in a S&T, to a team that could use a solid rotational player, and with the $ we have left out of the 3m.
Kidd *would allow us to use the min MLE"
Randy Foye
Dejuan Blairre or Gary Neal *SA would fit JJ, a rotation player with TD, Boris Diaw, Splitter, *they don't seem to want Blairre anymore*
Anthony Tolliver
AR
Courtney Lee *doubt Houston takes him back*
OKC still has a lot of young players that will probably not great their rotation
Ivan Johnson

Are you sure because it works on the trade machine.
not unless we add in another player, most we could take back $2,128,271 for Gadzuric's contract alone, any additional salary added would work.
It still isn't clear if we have JJ's bird rights or not, because he played 1.5 seasons with us because he was bought out from Houston towards the end of the year before he rejoined the Knicks after the Melo trade.
I don't think we have any other salaries, outside of Iman and our big 3, Baron Davis cleared waivers before joining us and Bibby only played 1 season.

We can take back the 2 salaries of the players i mentioned above.

I think Ron is right because Ellignton's salary jumps up to a little over 2 mill this year.
Ellington was a GREAT player in college...great shooter with great shooting form...i wouldnt mind him
any change we still have room for courtney lee...it would have to be a sign and trade right?

Knicks missed their opportunity, they should have not have given both picks, and both Jort's and Jordan.
By keeping one, pick, some more cash say 1.5m, Jorts/Jordan, and Gadzuric's contract, we would have been able to get another quality player via trade.
Camby would earn like 200-300k less starting salary, but we would have an extra asset to trade with.
Honestly --- how many decent players does 1 team need? Aren't we already at 10 or 11 decent players, is the 12th player really going to help us win games??

remember what happened to Mob Deep last year?
injuries will happen throughout the season, it is just a part of the game.
We have try our best to be prepared for them and just pray for the best.
