Let's stop the insanity with regards to Lin. He's happy to be a Knick and we should be happy to have him. Here is a comparison of the 3 standout rookie PGs from last season. This is their STARTER statitics:
Irving: 18.5 pts, 5.4 assists, 1.1 steals, 3.7 rebounds, .469 FG%, 51 starts
Rubio: 10.8 pts, 8.3 assists, 2.4 steals, 4.3 rebounds, .330 FG%, 31 starts
Lin: 18.2 pts, 7.7 assists, 2.0 steals, 3.7 rebounds, .445 FG%, 25 starts
As you can see, Lin compares very well. If you look at team win percentage when they are in the lineup as starters Lin is number one among those those three.

You have to count turnovers too but Lin is definitely a good player.
Dragic trumps all as a starter:
As a starter in Houston, Dragic averaged 18.0 points and 8.4 assists this season while shooting 49 percent from the field.Read more: http://www.azcentral.com/sports/suns/articles/2012/07/04/20120704phoenix-suns-terms-goran-dragic.html#ixzz20QCyC63S

Who the F cares about Dragic? We have Lin and he's younger and got thrust into a much tougher spot than Dragic who got to learn behind Nash. Lin did this off the cuff he had to do a make or break performance or he'd have been out of here. Doing what Lin did was one of the most impressive performances i've ever seen and it said a lot about his character and talent.
As for his TO's. Many of them weren't bad passes but fouls on Charges and Traveling calls when he got stuck and the refs didn't give him the call. He handled the ball so much that he was going to get the ball stripped or make a bad pass at a a higher rate than many PG's that just brought it up and passed it immediately. Being a penetrating PG as he is has it's plus and minus aspects and TO's is one of those things. He'll get better at it as he learns to recognize when to go and when to hold back.
I rather have Kyle Irving than Lin.
Lin played on Golden State for a year and could beat out Curry, who had a bad ankle. I wouldnt pencil Lin in for anything crazy at this point.
How many games did Dragic start? And yes he has a lot more experience than Lin and learned from Nash

He trumps all if you look at the last two seasons or 88 games. His earlier #s, about 200 games, are very bad. Overall I think he's still a good gamble.

28 games, about the same time frame as Lin.
I'm 100% good with Lin. Not all players can play under the bright lights of NYC and Lin can. That's all I have to say about that!
I'm on board with Lin. We really got lucky picking him up the way we did. He needs to work on cutting down on turnovers this season. Kidd can help with that.
I think Lin can score and distribute and make clutch shots. I am worried about the turnovers.

WTF??? Who wouldn't want Kyrie period? That's not a fare point to make. The thing is that Lin showed he could produce at a high level on the highest level. We really lucked out to get a kid with Lin's talent for NOTHING. People doubted Lin since day one and he proved who he was last year.

I think he will get it- He's smart enough to figure out how to attack in different ways- with time, and so many of the same players- and Kidd as an example- I think we're in a good situation

LOL, remember only a few people in here who were pissed that Dantoni was not playing Lin.
Funny, how things have changed and things turned out.
I constantly kept making post on why we needed to give Lin a shot and nixluva kept defending Dantoni.
"we as fans, think we know better than the coach, just like when we pushed TD to play, Jordan Hill, Darko Milic...."
now you are saying he is a "GREAT PLAYER"
If only, I could have convinced Dantoni to play him earlier, who knows how what round we would have made it to...

D'Antoni runs a PG friendly offense. See Duhon and Felton as exhibit A and B.
Li played really good then SURPRISE he broke down.
Regarding Dragic - Looks like a very good PG, but a few things:
1 - Years of pro experience and a couple of years older than Lin & 2 - Did he make his team mates any better? 2 is a key point. Lin did more with Less. I'll let my eyes be the judge and not the stats.
Irving - The real deal. Yeah, he does it all, but he was the #1 pick. To even be comparing an undrafted and multiple times cut player in Lin to him is something special. Irving appears better but I'm happy with Lin.
Rubio - Great general but his lack of scoring ability really is a weight on the rest of the team.
Of the above 3, I only see Irving as better than Lin.
Rubio is the next Duhon lol. I'll gladly take Lin over him. Irving was the #1 pick, of course he's really good. Dragic looks really good but Lin could definitely play to his level and possibly beyond. He played with Nash, now Lin has Kidd.
Lin proved he's got a combo of rare skills. He can get into the paint, he can break his man down off the dribble and he's got great court vision. When you combine those 3 your going to see a lot of easy shots for your bigs and open looks for your wings.
His handle (especially left) is mediocre and gets exposed and he needs to take better care of the ball, all things that will improve.
My only concern for him as a Knick is physical. He plays very aggressive and meniscus is a wear and tear injury. Hopefully Kidd can help him learn to better pace himself and easy his minutes a bit as well
I think Lin can be one of our 'big 3', and one of the better pieces that was written, that I think still applies is Nate Silver's piece:
http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com...
I'm not worried about turn overs, but like fish - do worry about the meniscus tear, and whether he has the body that can sustain the rigors of the NBA season. Ralph Samson?
Hopefully, Kidd is a big help, both in terms of backing him up and helping him develop, and he can have a long Knick Career ahead!
Lin's a very smart and sensible guy, who will take advantage of the opportunity to learn from Jason Kidd.

I was never against Lin! My point was that the coach didn't think he was ready as early as some wanted him to play and even Lin admitted he benefitted from his time in the D League. We all saw Lin had some talent but as I had made a very detailed timeline post showing MDA barely had any time to give Lin a chance to learn the system. Lin wasn't in camp and the schedule was jam packed with very few off days. Judging by the results I'd say MDA played it just about right.
Glen and MDA fully intended to find out what Lin had before letting him go and thank goodness Lin stepped up but there was no guarantee Lin would be as successful as he was. I'm pretty sure MDA was more confident after Lin killed it in the D League!!!
