Knicks · Conspiracy Theory Du Jour (page 1)
I'll believe Lin is gone when I see him at a Houston press conference in a rockets jersey
Now, as to whether Grunwald is on board? I'm hoping he's not and he's leaking this stuff to prompt a groundswell of support for Lin.
I wish there were some way we could start a campaign to keep Lin. I really wish there were. There must be, right? There must be something better than signing a petition?
The thing that has me most bummed and depressed is JR and Melo's comments - they seem to not want Lin back. I think this proves there was tension between Melo and Lin and possibly other players and Lin. Think about it - during Linsanity, Tyson was playing out of his mind, Jeffries played great. Novak. JR was instrumental in beating Dallas. Who gets all the credit? Lin. I can see why there'd be some bitterness towards Lin.
I just think he's too good a gift to let walk. Let's find a way to convince the Knicks to keep him.

Great post. I have one point of contention: players playing great during Linsanity had alot to do with the crappy teams they were playing.
the 18-6 stretch was a far better barometer / sample size and that had nothing to do with Lin or at least very little.
Player DO hate when other players make it all about them as opposed to the team.

I really didn't factor in the bolded part... and I agree with you 100 percent. I just hope Dolan was like "go see what you can get and I'll match" but that's pretty absurd the more I think about it

Reminds me of how George Steinbrenner handles Bernie Williams

Did you see any of the interviews after the Knick wins????? Lin gave credit to his teammates and his coach. He was not a me player like many of the thugs and divas that play in the NBA.

Well - he is not a bad guy and said all the right things but it WAS ALL ABOUT HIM. Melo started feeling like Jennifer Hudson in Dreamgirls.

That's a nice analogy but Lin really showed NO signs of an inflated ego. He was the consummate professional and said all the right things. Now if you want to take issue with him not stepping up and playing in the playoffs I can agree with you.

Beyonce was a professional too but that does not make everyone else feel better.

oh, i agree. Lin seems pretty grounded. but the media was not. the media crush was undeniable. and part of that was the asian media. but a BIG part of it was the US media into the whole cinderella idea. Lin is the only person EVER to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated two weeks in a row. I have a friend who works at SI who pointed this out to me. surely the amount of response Lin got ruffled some feathers in the Knicks organization.
I just hope they can see past it to sign a bluechip prospect. but my hope is dimming. I think they'll let him go.

HugeKnick4 wrote:Lin does not "owe" the Knick diddly squat. Loyalty? Seriously? It is all about business when the Knicks wait to see what the Market is willing to bear, so they don't overpay for Lin, but when Lin trys to get his coin, he is not loyal? It is a business and players need to take their money when they can, since there is no guarantee how their careers will pan out. Corporate Loyalty died about 20 years ago.
This is true. Knicks should have made him a standing offer for the max they could offer and said "test the market if you need to, but we're going to match anything."
Except, this organization is in disarray and probably had about ten different agendas regarding the Lin free agency from Day 1.
