Knicks · Facebook responds to Lin with tons of hate (page 1)

ChuckBuck @ 7/18/2012 1:23 PM

Ouch! I hated Lin leaving, but some of these people are taking it way way harder. Guess there's alot of "battered wives" out there.

crzymdups @ 7/18/2012 1:23 PM
Real classy. The Stephen A Smith school of fandom.
CashMoney @ 7/18/2012 1:27 PM
Some of those people 100% went over the line. If those people are NYK fans, I don't want to be associated with any of them.
BasketballJones @ 7/18/2012 1:31 PM
Is that for real? What a bunch of low-lifes.
Vmart @ 7/18/2012 1:33 PM
People are ridiculous.
Voltron @ 7/18/2012 1:35 PM
Is this real? Last I checked he was a restricted free agent and it was up to NY to match the offer. The Knicks also signed two other point guards for gigantic money. I'm not seeing how this is Lin's fault. I would've thought Knick fans knowledgable enough to be mad at the Knicks not Lin. In their fantasy world, did these Knick fans actually expect Lin to reject Houston's $24 million offer to play for $700,000 in New York to be a 3rd stringer?
Hippo @ 7/18/2012 1:37 PM
Racism is alive and well. Good to see.
CrushAlot @ 7/18/2012 1:39 PM
Crazy. I thought the world was a better place and society had evolved.
MinsHeartsReezy @ 7/18/2012 1:42 PM
Seriously, this is what's wrong with the world. It's ok to be upset, but why do people feel it's ok to use a racial slur or degrade someone just because it's over a computer. It's never ok.
crzymdups @ 7/18/2012 1:53 PM
This is why I respect this board a lot. We may all disagree every freaking day about every little Knick thing, but I know you guys would never say any crap like that.
JamesLin @ 7/18/2012 1:56 PM
What's the point of this topic? So yes, lots of racists out there. I get it. Lots of illiterate folks out there, I get that too. He had no obligations to be loyal to the Knicks. The Knicks did not give him 'a chance'. They had no choice but put Jeremy out there because there's literally nobody else that can play those days. Every PG was hurt. He was not even on rotation. If you said Knicks was created by god, he would've stayed and take less pay to do the right thing I bet. He's just going for the maximum he can get financially before the possibilities of not making anymore. He turned down lucrative deals. I'm serious, lucrative deals comparable to Michael Jordan, etc. He was not even a Knicks a full year! On the other hand, our Knicks STATED PUBLICLY they will match anything. Did they? No. What's wrong with these degrading Knicks fans??? Seriously, we're already getting mocked by fans of other teams already. We already sunk so low and now thanks to this post, I'm gonna go get some buffet and stuff myself to death.
RicanHavok @ 7/18/2012 1:57 PM
Real ugly but I couldn't help but laugh at the very last one.
smackeddog @ 7/18/2012 2:13 PM
I think he pulled a d*** move, and i don't buy his 'humble' act, but man, why do people think its alright to send such venom to players over the Internet? And the dumb offensive racism too.
GustavBahler @ 7/18/2012 3:04 PM
Those are some f'ed up comments. Lin did not deserve them, no one does.
subzero0 @ 7/18/2012 3:41 PM
Those are the latest generation of Knick fans? Wow.
jrodmc @ 7/18/2012 3:47 PM
The fact the planet is still able to keep spinning with the weight of all this stupidity is mind boggling.

Agreed, that last comment was a bit funny. I was called a n once. Considering I'm as pasty white as grandma's socks, I considered it an honor.

Well, at least we didn't give up any draft picks or half the starting team to Houston.

And here I was hoping right up until the deadline that Dolan the Moron would match, if for no other reason than to prove the NY Times wrong and make them look stupid. Instead, I'm left with nothing and the spectre of IT hazing everything over again.

Silly me.

Since Usenet the Internet has been used for hate. Just amazed at the vile things people say on the Internet these days under their real name.

blackisblack @ 7/18/2012 3:52 PM
I will not post like that using my Facebook account. You could seriously get into trouble with those posts. Remember, your Facebook posts and your pics and even your account can be visible to a lot of people, including your employers and the government. Many of those posts are downright racist.
Knicksfan @ 7/18/2012 4:16 PM
Was that edited? I mean, every single one of them is extremely offensive. Thought there would be at least a positive one. Man, talk about the darkest side of fandom. Embarrassing.
OasisBU @ 7/18/2012 4:31 PM
See - psychos came out of the woodwork because of Lin. Its really a shame. He does not deserve this - I wish him luck and am sad to see him go but Knicks life goes on.
blkexec @ 7/18/2012 4:52 PM
If you look past the racism and vulgar....You can see the message.

Everybody is upset at Lin, with his secret last minute renegotiation where Houston added the poison pill.

Honestly, I think the problem is not Lin, but his agent. Yes, Lin switched agents to protect him. Unfortunately, high profile agents are good at obtaining the most out of nba teams.

But a non-knick fan / friend said Lin is now under the radar with all teams and nba players. They will guard him and attack him like white on rice. Eventually, he will break down again, and spend most of his nba playing time on the side line with injuries.

I can see that happening.

Also, I think with all this media coverage and hype, Lin was in a loss...loss situation. If he stayed in NY, the media and fans would've been all over him, criticizing every fault. He would not be able to play up to his potential in NY, under that type of internal team and external / NBA pressure.

Going to Houston, he will get the same criticism, especially if they have a losing record and miss the playoffs.

The smart thing for Lin would've been to get an agent that good with managing his image. Instead of getting the most $ per contract, which always comes with loads of pressure and high expectations. He should've said he only wants to play for NY, and privately named his own price, based on feedback from other NBA contracts with similar historical stats.

Then use his Linsanity popularity to gain additional $ that would've equaled or doubled his entire contract. Now that’s a win...win for Lin.

But like the old saying goes....Money is the root of all evil. This facebook attachment is only the beginning.
