Its a good pickup.

Every guy on the roster is a good defender, and the 2 guys who arent good defenders are our primary scorers which is fine. Seems like they are creating an identity which I 100% endorse.

Novak and A'mare are our worst defenders....melo was vastly improved since joining the knicks...

I didn't realize it but Ronnie Brewer actually averaged 12 & 13 points a game while sitting over 50% two years while in Utah playing with Deron Williams. He didn't show that in Chicago. Knicks don't need him to drop 13 a night but if he has the threat to score like that the knicks are getting a bonus.

Fields is close to 50% too. Both guys are slashers who cant shoot. Brewer will never play with a guy like deron again. What Brewer has over fields is he actually plays defense. But having a shooting guard in the starting lineup who cant shoot will hurt melo and amare because we will be playing 3 on 5 on offense

You're not gonna get a perfect player for the vet min. Like you said, Brewer is a great 2 point scorer. Like Fields, he's also a very good passer. Other than the handling of the Lin situation, I think Grunwald/Dolan have done a very good job this summer.

Thats true unlike fields he can pass and dribble without turning the ball over eveery time

I definitely would not call Fields a turnover machine.

If you look at his turnover stats it may seem like an exageration but when you watch the games and you see that in the very few times he touched the ball he usually turned it over

So we pick up ronnie, a shooting guard who can't shoot. This looks like a similar issue we had at the pg position last season..

A point guard who can't direct, waiting on baron to get healthy

now we have a shooting guard who can't shoot and waiting on shump to get healthy..

gunsnewing @ 7/25/2012 12:12 PM
Shumpert needs to work on his shot too and getting it down consistently. Difference is he is a rookie and was shsowing improvement late in the year. Ronnie is entering his 7th year and didnt fair well starting in chicago last year. Gotta hope his passing and defense will offset the fact that we will be playing 3 on 5 til shump returns

Yup. As Houston and Novak demonstrated with how great of a shooter they turned Fields into

Fields was to busy with Lin to hang with those two.[:D]

On the real Brewer I believe had an injury to his arm the restricts him from being able to bring his elbow in.
I would send him to a person Like Tom House, a motion specialist, he works with athletes from different sports to help there motion. I think Brewer needs someone who can perfect a shooting motion around his condition.

Really? I think Fields was busy, but not from hanging with Jeremy Lin.

Yeah hard to blame Fields for not working on his shot. Well at least not his basketball shot.

his backdoor play should be vastly improved

Difference this year, is Brewer is an upgrade over Fields in that he actually isn't a human turnstile. Also, we now have 3 point guards that can direct.

He was pretty bad last yr, and this isn't mda system were 3s get inflated..this particular position requires a you to shoot, come off of screens, spot up and slash...he's equivilent to fields IMO

Brewer has a role here... run the floor and defend. Fields is a nice fill out the stat sheet guy if your running an open offense. With iso-joe Melo pounding the rock and Fields just standing around he was useless here
mrKnickShot @ 7/25/2012 1:18 PM
The question is, does brewer have any glue?

Because of his never ending flatulations - he farts on everything and does not stop. Ask him, he actually said this in an interview.

I don't know about that. I think they have different skill sets. Scoring, yea Corey's got the edge, but Corey can't bang with big SG's and SF's like Ronnie can. He can't post up and muscle to the rim like Ronnie can. This is a good pickup and a better fit than Corey would have been. I like this
