Knicks · Melo was a "True Supporter" of Lin..... (page 2)
If Melo said that Lin wasn't a good fit here and he wishes him well with a team that better suits his style of play, the haters would be like.....See I told you all!
Funny

See, this is the speculative BS that I'm talking about. Wheres the proof?
Bonn1997 wrote:Uptown wrote:Here's what Tyson Chandler had to sayTyson Chandler, is appearing in his first Olympics and on Friday the veteran center said that the idea that Anthony didn't want Lin is "nonsense."
"Carmelo was always supportive of Jeremy," Chandler said.
I'm pretty sure the Melo detractors will ignore Melo's actual words and will instead believe Beck and Wojo's speculative, opinionated columns.
Melo also gave full support to MDA many times. Do you place full confidence in those statements of his too?
That is true more than vice-versa (MDA support of melo)
Fact in matter is Melo is correct he'll get blamed 150% for all things in Knickland, All cause of big Trade & Melo mistake for $$contract causing Dolan to give up the ship
when City fans & board was burying Melo prior to MDA departing the mecca, Neither coach (mda) nor high level teammates (aka Amare Stoudemire) none supported Melo in headlines and ya know what ? throughout the boos and catcalls vs Melo whether occasional win OR loss during losing streak, MELO was always in front of Microphone win, lose or
draw.
Now going back to others, when MDA slide began during crucial "Boston Garden Game" D'Antoni single handily bl_ew game by allowing Paul Pierce to tie with/3pt to force OT
Knicks lost 9 of next 10 then, Melo was 1st in newspapers to Support vocally MDA twice & then and only then did the low quiet Amare Stoudemire echo mda support remarks also
Same Amare whom is critical of MDA defense in Phoenix & before MDA hired in NY BUT Loves MDA Cause D'antoni wont hold any superstar to playing defense, not a MDA niche.
All in all Melo says he's used to it & it doesnt bother him so he moves on.
Whether Melo was high on LIN or not they didnt play long enough together, but when LIN ran show Anthony then hurt often applauded and high five teammates like Lin
during Knicks MDA win streak prior to Knicks huge slide losing, and then M.Dantoni leaving NewYork cold without trying to finish season.
No one more than Melo anything can't win in appeal here regardless, its a lose-lose situation but he accepts it and tries to play & go on to improve to help team
win under Mike Woodson.

You got some other plausible interpretation other than that we should always take everything everyone says at face value?
To be clear, I'm not using this comment against Melo either, and I suspect some of you think I am. I just don't give the comment any validity.

He's been traveling Europe getting ready for the Olympics. Highly doubt Lin has been that high on the agenda of late, not to mention, who knows the accessibility of the players to NY media in the mist of travel and Olympic preparation.

You got the phone number or email of Melo's spin doctor or PR Coach? I need to spin as good as Melo does to my wife when I come home with a hundred singles in my pocket. ![]()
I'd sure like to look and sound as natural he does without a hint of spite towards Jeremy Lin. For Tyson Chandler to say Carmelo was 100% in support of Jeremy, I mean does that mean Tyson Chandler is a stone faced liar too?

enough of this bullshit already....
My point was just that there's no point in taking seriously the comments players give to the media, especially the well-planned out comments, as opposed to when they have to answer questions on the spot.
How about comments like "I never worked as hard as I am working for Woodson"? Should we take that at face value? Should we paraphrase that comment as "I quit on MDA"? Or, should it just be ignored?

Put it this way, I'd give more weight to self-incriminating comments than to comments that just tell fans what the player knows they want to hear.

And I'd say that's especially true if it confirms what's completely blatant - Melo played much harder for Woodson than for MDA.

Isn't that a great thing now since, you know, Woodson is the permanent coach now?

Well even the guy I was replying to thinks our team of oldies will have at best a 2nd round exit. Hard for me to consider that great. What do you think?

So, in essence, we haven't been great since '73.

We haven't made it past the 2nd round since '73? Really?

Whats great so that I'm clear? 3rd round exit? Finals and lose?

That's a good question. It's probably just the well-planned out, damage-control, PR comments that should be disvalued.
morning having gotten 8 hours of sleep the night before. Pressed you suit for the next day and rehearsed what you were going to do for 3 hours the night before? Do you ask everyone there for extra responsabilities? Get the office coffee and doughnuts every morning? WOrk untill 9 PM every night? If not, we can infer that you're dogging it and suck.

Dogging it isn't a phrase I used. But it is remarkably rare to see a player's effort and energy level change as dramatically as it did overnight like it did with Melo last year.
Carmelo is also a true supporter of his country.
While Jeremy Lin is counting his new extra cash and plotting marketing strategy with his high-end law firm in Washington DC, Carmelo is working hard, practicing his craft against the best basketball players on the planet.
You do the math.
