Knicks · Melo was a "True Supporter" of Lin..... (page 3)

Carmelo is also a true supporter of his country.

While Jeremy Lin is counting his new extra cash and plotting marketing strategy with his high-end law firm in Washington DC, Carmelo is working hard, practicing his craft against the best basketball players on the planet.

You do the math.

But Lin didn't have a contract yet. Why should he risk himself to being exposed I mean injured before he has a contract?

Same philosophy, different target different sports

WHAT?!?

What does Sandusky have to do with any of this?

Dottie made a statement in denial. Carmelo made one too. Both statement are just publicity to keep their image not-tainted. I'm just saying, all this smells like crap statement.

But it wouldn't be if Melo said what you and many others would like to read/hear....right?

Just saying, public statements are things you listen to if you're clueless about life and truth. Doesn't really matter what he says about himself. All polished. JR Smith was the only one believable when he said there might be chemistry problems if Lin's contract was matched. Amare says he's going to make Knicks win again, Carmelo says he supports Lin, etc, etc. In Joey's term, it's all a moo point.

I agree it is a moo point.

If we are at the point that we take idiot players comments to use and take seriously then we are all a bunch of idiots.

There is spinning on both sides of everything and who ever buys into any of it is a bone head.

Then what would we argue about?

And he thought the Houston contract was "ridiculous" as well.

“It can be looked at as a ridiculous contract in the sense that it’s a $5 [million], a $5 [million] and a $15 [million over the first three years],” Novak told SNY.tv Wednesday at the Steve Novak Basketball Camp at Sleepy Hollow High School.

“It is kind of ridiculous in terms of the structure. I don’t think in terms of Jeremy’s value that it’s ridiculous. I think everybody knows that. He’s very valuable….I wasn’t there when Carmelo said it but ‘ridiculous contract,’ I think probably means more the fact that there’s a max offer being offered in the third year when the first two was a five.”

Where is the outrage over Steve Novak?

The outrage isn't there because Novak isn't the player who played lazy for a coach so they could get fired. Steve Novak's old coach didn't say their team was better off without him. Steve Novak doesn't have many coaches, players and media talking about how he is not well matched with his other superstar because of his ISO game, and basically shuts down the offense the second he touches the ball. Steve Novak didn't contribute to the Lin leaving because of his ego.

That is why there is no outrage over what Steve Novak said.

Nonsense like this is why I created this thread. Since when did Melo become the GM of the Knicks?
Also, he must be a silent partner of the Rockets helped them negotiate the poison pill contract to force Lin to the Rockets. Melo is very diabolical son-of-a-gun....

No one from Lin's camp ever said Melo didn't like him, and neither did anyone from Melo's camp, and neither did any other member of the team. In fact there was never any source what so ever that was cited in any of the articles that liked to push this BS story. And yet so many people seem to believe it! It was always 100% BS made up by a couple of beat writers, who always make up BS in the hope that people will read their c**p!

It's like the old saying goes, if you repeat a lie often enough, people will start to believe it.

smackeddog wrote:Lin fans seemed to want to believe that Melo didn't like him and was jealous of his 15 game achievements, and I have no idea why.

news media won't admit the exist of global warming, wouldn't george bush or obama acknowledge global warming if it were real? it's clearly not real then. some people will just make stuff up, i guess. lol go knicks!

mitt romney says this is going to be an american century and he's better than obama. glad that's settled.

boy, reading quotes has really made life simpler. i'm glad no one ever lies or tries to make themselves look better in quotes to news media outlets! life sure is swell.

Not saying you have to believe the quote, but I am curious why you believe Melo hated Lin in the absence of any actual source or proof- what are you basing the belief on? The look in Melo's eyes?!

basing it on what i saw on the court with my own eyes and published reports from writers i respect from NY Times, CBS, Yahoo and ESPN.

just curious: why do people believe what those same reporters (Berger, Wojo, Beck) say about dwight howard and lebron james but when it comes to melo they need a QUOTE.

i'm not going to ignore what i saw and was reported by people i respect based on a story from marc berman from the new york post and a 10 second sound bite from melo who has absolutely nothing to gain from admitting that he wanted lin out and a lot to gain from the fan base by saying he wanted lin back and it just didn't work out.

if it was all about the contract offer lin got from houston why didn't the knicks make an offer first? just to let him know they wanted him. maybe they didn't want him. or maybe a very powerful faction in the organization didn't want him. maybe it was the same faction that made mike woodson fire his long-time agent and hire them? QUOTE from woodson's old agent: “Mike Woodson deserves the job,” Keith Glass said on the phone Friday night. “I’m trying to take the high road, and I’m certainly not going to be asking anybody at the Garden for directions.”

i'm sorry, i saw the way melo bristled when he was on the court with lin and lin was scoring. sure, melo cheered for lin when he was on the bench injured. but when melo shared the court with lin it was another story.

CAA's job is to represent Melo and make him the star of the Knicks. Lin threw a wrench in that plan since he was WAAAAAY more popular than Melo (and also better at winning basketball games). So CAA got rid of him. They made sure they'd have sway over the head coach by making him fire his agent and sign up with them so they could make sure they had him in their pocket.

People can say conspiracy conspiracy it's all about winning, but look at the Garden. hell, look at sports. this is about hundreds of millions of dollars and the biggest egos in the world. did Lin want to leave? maybe. maybe he wanted to get away from Melo's CAA attack dogs.

the melo fans can keep saying he can do no wrong while ignoring the fact that his old coach (george karl) looked like the happiest man on the planet when melo was traded. they can ignore the fact that denver soared to a 20-5 record after melo was traded. they can ignore that the best and most exciting and most successful stretch of basketball the knicks have played in the melo era (9-1) happened with melo on the bench. they can ignore that when melo came back, 6 games later d'antoni, who had looked like the happiest man on the planet under linsanity, quit. they can ignore melo's playoffs record. they can ignore his shooting percentage. they can ignore whatever success jeremy lin goes on to. they can start taking marc berman stories in the nypost as gospel.

hey, at least we'll always have LaLa.

knickscity wrote:When Melo was on the court with Lin, they were blowing teams out the building.

(once d'antoni was fired and melo started trying)... but overall i agree. i was really excited to see what the team could do with Lin and Melo over a full season.

that's a good argument not to bring Lin back then.

the knicks absolutely dominated the pacers two games in a row with Lin and Melo. Melo didn't score a lot, because it was pure 5 on 5 basketball.

two weeks later, lin is down, melo scores 39pts 10rebs against the pacers and the knicks lose ugly.

Knicks were better with Lin and Melo.

Melo didn't want to share the spotlight and especially didn't want to be nudged out of the spot light by Lin. Hence, despite all basketball logic, Lin is gone and it's Melo's team.

Let's see how far he can take the Knicks. History shows it will be the first round.

When the team was healthy when Woodson took over, everyone contributed, and the results were ridiculous.

there was no who's better or spotlight, both guys got to sit most of the fourth quarters while their team mates kept piling it on.
