I think he's back with Boston

I think Shawne Williams is the perfect pickup for that last spot they got. He defended LBJ well, he can defend from the 2 to the 5 and can hit from 3.

I agree 100%. We have won one game out of seven against the Heat after his departure. Meanwhile, with him here we split the season series 2-2.

Yeah, Wilcox had heart surgery or something, and resigned with Celtics for 1year vet minimum.
He was doing great before he was forced to sit out last year with Boston.

Shawnee, while he was a Knick was a great player to have, but last year he was horrible and barely was able to play.
He had surgery on his ankle or something, and didn't look even 30% of the player that he was while he was a Knick.
That is why Portland bought his 3.4-3.5m contract out for 3.1m or so....

If Shawnee is near the player he was while a Knick, I think it would be a no brainer with his ability to play 3/4, and spread the floor.
I have Anthony Tolliver, Terrence Williams, and Carlos Delfino over him.

Also with only 1 player that can penetrate off the dribble in Felton, I think Nate Robinson could be a great option to have.
We simply need players that can have the speed/quickness, ability to penetrate, handle the ball, and spread the floor while playing off the ball at the same time.

Problem is we don't have much youth/versatility on our roster, with too many old players, lack of legit PF's, and a lot of waste of roster spots.

Ronnie Brewer is our only legit SG/SF, JR Smith is closer to PG/SG that cannot facilitate/penetrate off the dribble in traffic than defending big G/Fs.
James White also does not have the size to defend the bigger SFs.

While we do not have a shot blocking, post up, or/and a defensive PF/C that can block shots and play with Tyson/Camby.
Whether Camby and Tyson can coexist together while not being a liability on both ends, especially when opponents use a stretch 4 like Durant/Ilyasova/Ryan Anderson/Lebron, will be a question.

I do not know where you got this from but Smith and Brewer are nearly identical with Smith probably slightly bigger and longer (if he grew from when he was drafted at 18) than Brewer. Smith can guard every SF not name Lebron and he did as well as job as most do on him by fronting him and moving him off his desired position.

Anyway, SGs and PGs are more than likely done until Dec or Jan. when those wasted roster spots will be traded to teams looking to dump a player mid year. Those expiring and non guaranteed contracts will come in handy. The position of need is another big man because Campy likes to rest himself and Tyson needs less minutes too plus he is prone to picking up stupid fouls. I hope they take a run at Blatche but Tolliver is more likely. I would definitely pick up Terrence Williams and cut Copeland though but maybe they see something.

Totally forgot about Nate. He might actually be a good fit on this team for some instant offense and energy...sort of like what JJ Barrea brought to the Mavs

Also MelO can slide over to the 4 and Stat to the 5 when needed

Ira @ 7/28/2012 1:50 PM
Somehow I find it hard see Nate playing under Mike Woodson.

Somebody gotsta be in Woody's doghouse

DJ White is still available with James Singleton both being realistic veteran minimum targets.
I think I would prefer James Singleton, or a "Lebron stopper" with our final roster spot.

Even players like Matt Barnes/Pietrus who have aged much, don't want to play for the veterans minimum.

There seems to be a lot of interest in Anthony Tolliver, so I don't see him being realistic at this point with all the interest and our lack of roster spots making it less attractive.
At least with Brewer, he knew he would have a very good shot at starting or playing many minutes at SG/SF, with his only competition being

JR Smith
Kidd
Flight

and at SF, he would be out best defender as well. I think Brewer is the only one that has the size/strength to stop Wade from posting up.
JR Smith just doesn't have the size/strength needed to.

Which is why, I would target Brandon Rush with the 1st round pick 2016 pick, if he stays on Golden State for the qualifying offer.
Brandon Rush can improve our defense, rebounding, 3point shooting, and ability to finish on the break very much.
Whether paired with Iman or Brewer, he has the ability to be a good lock down defender role, spread the floor, and has LEGIT size to defend the athletic SGs/SFs

But we don't have a player we can put to defend their #1 option in Lebron.

I really liked the center the Knicks had on their summer league team, art..., and I also thought copeland looked good. Also, I don't think Kurt has a big role but his size and Davy are the kind of thing a vet playoff team needs.

I like Art as a big body who can rebound. I also wouldn't mind someone like Al Thorton,Louis Amdunson and Carl Landry. Those guys can play the 3 and 4. Crazy Ivan Johnson would also be an awesome signing. Blatche is the most talented guy left, but he is a head case.

unstopaball12 @ 7/29/2012 6:58 AM
I really like DJ White, young and good shooter from the outside

I'd look at:
1. Kenyon Marin
2. DJ white
3. Al thornton
4. Daniel Orton
5. Denzel Bowles
6. Shawne Williams

We still need depth at the4/5 position

callmened @ 7/29/2012 7:44 AM
Ive always liked dj white...im biased against kmart simply cuz i dont like his antics...but hed be a good pickup

I agree wih b.rush...talented just surprised that he still hasnt fit in anywhere

This DJ White? He's only attempted three 3-pointers in his career. Off of your list I'd look at Kenyon, Bowles, and Extra E. But really, I think I'd prefer if we just signed our big man Art off of the Summer League team.

DJ white is a PF not a 3pt shooter...I didnt see "Art" play...in fact i dont know who ur talking about...but im sure DJ is a better player

Yep, he definitely makes sense- he's played with us before, was friends with Amar'e, played with Felton and can play SG, SF, PF and C. Also won't grumble at lack of playing time. Obviously there's the worry he's slipped into bad habits after last seasons disaster (conditioning was a problem til he signed with us), so I'd check to see if he's in shape first.

Why was last season so bad for him? No idea- he had foot surgery to remove a bone fragment- aparantly they fixed an old foot fracture too.

Update, here may be why he sucked last season- remember it was the lockout, then he was I'll with flu the first week of training camp, and then:

On the first day of practice and fresh off signing a $6.15 million, two year deal, Shawne Williams hurt his ankle and by over compensating to ease the pain is now in a situation where he knows he won't ever be 100 per cent this season. In fact he may have to undergo surgery in mid-season
.
