Knicks · Phuch it, lets just do this and get it over with! (page 1)
Does that mean I am a Net fan? I have stated my history goes back to the ABA years and ends when they moved to Jersey.
I find with some respect and business acumen the job they are doing to reboot the franchise. A big investment has been made in the team and arena!
I sat down and looked at the starting roster and considered knicks and Nets and what each team is paying and if the nets may be as out of whack as some Knick fans propose. Especially Mr InfinitiLove100.

Tyson and Amare had problems with spacing. Its pretty well documented. He is far from a perfect fit. Tyson needs a very small mid range jumper or jump hook because he is only a threat under the basket.
Tysons games missed http://www.nba.com/playerfile/tyson_chan... and perhaps you'll see something. He has been paid a lot of money in his last contracts and missed a lot of games in his career.
Bropez is an underachiever in rebounds He played 5 games last year on a broken foot. The season before it was closer to 8 per. Will he rebound more this year? Block few shots? We have to watch the games. I think his contract is justifiable. Not many 20 pt 5's in the league. http://www.nba.com/playerfile/brook_lope.... He gets to 10 rebs a game he is a top 7 center or higher.
Tyson has been paid very well for a long time. Im not sure he played up to his contract HISTORICALLY. Don't worry, I liked the signing and thought two he was a perfect compliment to Amare. Boy was we wrong! Woodson got some work to do!
Contractually BroPez was a free agent. He is not a complete player but in a league short on quality 5's, thats the market. Look at this stat: http://www.nba.com/statistics/player/Sco... This before he got hurt last season. Guy grabs two more rebounds a game he is well worth his contract. He Stays healthy he gets traded to ORL for a package for Dwight. Will he rebound better than 8per game and on a better team? We'll see. Infinitilove, you can't just state infactically what you want to happen. You can but you look childish.
Nets got Joe Johnson http://www.nba.com/playerfile/joe_johnso...cheap because of his crazy contract that ATL wanted to shed. Parallel with Amare. Sometimes you over pay to get them. Another smilar contract. I call this one a draw. Both the same age, very very good at their positions but not quite franchise talents. Both Overpaid. DOn't worry, Amare is like my favorite Knick, but Im not stupid about his knee, eye or back. OR the fit he has with Tyson or Melo. But Im rooting for Woodson to figure it out also.
Deron and Melo. Both max at peak of powers. Similar. Both top 5 at their postions. Both justifiable contracts.
12 mil for Humphries! Dude is a double-Double machine. 13.8 pts per game, 11 Reb. He was Number 2 in the NBA in rebounding. He may be a Net and a Kardasian whore but 12 mil is the rate for a 26 year old double double guy who puts up better stats each year. Just a two year deal. Guy is dumber than a bag of rocks. He had a full ride to Indiana and on his visit they recinded it because he was such an asshole while there.
Gerald Wallace. They gave up the 6th pick for him. Your looking at a career 15 and 6 SF with a defensive edge. He did this also in Portland. IM not sure at age 30 (Just turned 30 three weeks ago) if he can play all 4 years up to that level but he played most of last year that average. $10 mil a year is not quite a max contract. Not sure they could have drafted a player of that caliber.
objectively I'd say the Nets are not overpaying too much. They are taking on risk with BroPez but Knicks have also with Amre. Joe Johnsons contract is a bear but he came real cheap via trade.
Im not defending the Nets nor showing love. for the first time I sat down and looked at some of thier numbers and try to understand BroPez a little more than the negative hype I have read from Knick Fans. IM not comparing the rosters or predicting who will be better. Im trying to be objective when evaluating their salaries compared to the Knicks. Its hard to be a knick fan and call out other teams spending when we have been the NBA joke for some time.
I really have no idea how the knicks will put it all together and overcome the problems we have putting our very very good "on paper" roster into a viable cohesive unit. Until we do I won't be bashing other teams.
I am really looking forward to opening night!
I think some credit has to go to Woody for actually putting the idea in the head of his 2 big men to improve their games by adding post moves. With the both being more PnR finishers than all around big men, it was a really smart move to look to get them to be more capable in other ways than just what they've been successful doing all along. To whatever degree they actually can improve it will help a lot. This when you consider how the team is going to look to play style wise it will help to space the floor better if they aren't both in the same space at the same time. If when Tyson sets a pick STAT can drop into the low post that helps.
The guys that have to step up in terms of their perimeter shooting will be Brewer and Shump when he gets back. They MUST be able to stretch the floor with more reliable shooting. They don't have to be as good as Novak, but just hit a decent %. The Nets have a lot of shooting and will not have a problem spreading the floor. The Knicks will have to augment their scoring with easy baskets off of TO's. That's where the Knicks will edge out other teams despite not being the best shooting team. I anticipate the Knicks being a very good team in terms of creating TO's. The Knicks will also have great depth and so they'll be able to really play a high level of D for 48 minutes.
gunsnewing wrote:Knicks have a big 2. They lack a third scorer. We'll see how they fair in the playoffs against Boston & Miami
That could be JR and hopefully will be Iman.
Jason Terry is way more efficient than JR. You live and die by JR's jumpshot
I don't think the Nets will be anywhere near as tough on D as the Knicks, so both teams will be somewhat polar opposites of each other. The Nets have the scoring punch and the Knicks have more defensive strength. It's gonna be a heck of a battle for years with these 2 teams.

If the Knicks can stay healthy this coming season, haters will be disappointed. Amar'e, learn all the moves from Hakeem Olajuwon and be sure to learn the Dream Shake so we can shut some people up. Chandler, keep doing a great job and being one of the best Centers in the NBA. Camby, thanks for coming back with great defense. You will be the 10 rebs, shot blocker that fits perfectly backing up Chandler. Thanks for coming Back Felton and we know that you are going shut some people up. Brewer, thanks for coming here and bringing great defense for cheap. J.R. you did it as well. We know you made sacrifice to come back to NY and want to be here like the others. Melo, 37 points in 14 mins? You will bring it Melo. Copeland is a poor man's Melo. Shump! We're glad you stayed and get well soon. Prigioni, you may be older but you dish like a young player. Kidd and the rest, welcome. Oh wait..how can I forget Novacane. He's lethal. We will win it all!
I'm really looking forward to opening night and I can't wait!

Stoudemire didn't work with Chandler because Stoudemire lost his jumper last season. If he gets it back to 2010/11 form then it will work. Training camp and preseason will allow them to learn to play together. You can say he's not a good fit because he has no outside game, but i would rather have a strong defensive big with no jumper then a stretch-5 with no defensive game to offset Stoudemire. I think the balance of each of their skillsets will allow them to play well together. They just need to work at it.
we did not have the right point guards for these guys to be able to play at their highest level last season plus all the injuries. Now that Felton's back and has proven that he could play well with Amar'e, Jason Kidd and Prigioni can still dish like just about anybody. Watch out! I'm telling you, it will be different now because of the point guards that we now have.
