Never in my life did i think id see someone ask for a nets subforum. never thought id say this but maybe im better off with the children at realgm.
I have made friends here, lifelong friends and those will remain forever. But the place we met is being ruined.
This place has degenerated, badly. what a shame.
I just wish someone would do something about it.

Looks like true Knicks fans are based in Europe these days, so many New Yorkers turning their back to the orange and blue for the glam of Jay-Z and his Nyets 
I agree that things are pretty bad. Did someone really ask for a nets sub forum? The sad thing is the Knicks have Put together the best knick team in more than a decade.

I was just going to respond with the same point, jrod. Knowing how you post, I don't know how anyone could read it other than a facetious request.
I don't understand all the kvetching. Yes, the board is different. Many posters I used to love reading don't come around here anymore. We may be beyond the point where the board will have 554 visitors finding out about the Zach Randolph trade. Facebook and site comment threads have taken a lot of that load, I reckon.
But I do for the most part dig what posters like Bonn, Nalod, misterearl's idiosyncratic Q-and-A posting style, EnySpree, crzymdups, Frenchy, akrud's phonetic spelling, etc... even jrod's hyperbolic, dripping wet sarcasm, even when he doesn't include emoticons for us touchy-feeling pablum puking hypersensitive liberal types.
It's the bloody offseason, folks! Last offseason it was me and jrod debating Occupy Wall Street. Who wants to read that crap? But y'all indulged us, and actually the discussion was interesting to me! Usually we'd be deep into the second round of an Alba draft, but without TMS, that would feel a bit hollow.
So folks want to talk Lin and Nets. I don't see the big deal, if it's just a reminder to use the Off-Topic forum or "OT" your post. People post in the Knicks forum because it's the forum people always check. The OT board's last post is an update to jrod's Follow Gallinari's Career Thread from July, for God's sake.

I think things have picked up a bit the past week or two- even Bonn1997 has had a few positive things to say. I don't have a problem with critical Knick fans or cynical knick fans, my only issue is people who refuse to post anything but bile 100% of the time and root for other teams to beat us. Since Lin left, I think a few of those have gone and only one or two remain.
I wouldn't want the boards to be 100% blind praise, but there is a difference between being critical and being a hater. A lot of posters are happy that we're going back to proper Knicks basketball, the Lin and Nets obsessions will die down if we start the season well- though even now the Lin obsession is less than the Gallo one.

Dolan should have seen this coming. If the team performs above expectations, then I think all will be well. The Brooklyn owner said the cap didn't matter and he was right as it's a special time. If there was a 3 year period to stack talent and go over the cap, it was now. To go all out and show fans you mean it, also a bit of an investment in the future and securing the fan base. And yeah, I am alluding to Lin as well. I mean what a time to let a talent go for nothing, a talent the city loved. We'll see if Dolans experiment pans out, as well as Brooklyns with the high salaries for aging players.
its still the best forum on the net. Just agree that Melo is the 2nd best player in the NBA behind Lebron and your golden.

This forum is still fun. The optimist in me says that the posters that infuriate me share the same love of the Knicks that I have. This leads to them going a little crazy because we were so bad for so long, waited until summer of 2010 to make the suffering end and now we feature a team which may or may not be contender caliber. Truth is, only LeBron could've put us in automatic contender mode. Heck, I think he's the only player in the NBA that makes someone an instant contender. And since Melo is not LeBron and never will be (no one will be in this generation) he gets crapped on.
I understand Melo is the face of the franchise and he deserves crtiticism for the product as a whole if it's a bust. And I too agree that letting Lin walk was foolish no matter how it's spun. But the fact is that we have a very good looking roster. Aside from LAL and Miami we may have the best roster in the league.
But our history over the last decade and our ownership overshadows EVERYTHING and it leads to regurgitating the Lin scenario, arguments about Melo being a selfish diva, etc. Again, my opinion is that almost everyone here LOVES the Knicks...maybe even Bonn whose opinions and statistical based analysis I have my issues with. And that passion and love for the team goes both ways. It leads to blind optimism and pessimism. Not enough intelligent, logical and reasonable discusison. But I still believe everyone here desperately wants the Knicks to win a title.
Then again, it's a message board. This gives people an outlet to be idiots sometimes.
I think that’s right that they send Lin packing. We are not taking the gifts from the Karma.
Dolan and Co need the team success to be theirs achievement not the byproduct of some silly Asian boy.

Great Post. Hopefully everyone on here is rooting for the Knicks to succeed and not hoping they fail so they can go "I told you so"...that's the big difference.
I don't think anyone predicting bad outcomes takes happiness from being proven right. We've already had ten years of that.
