I like this. Love it when players get together during the offseason. It can only help chemistry though, I'd rather see Felton working out with Amare and Chandler.
Also another positive report on his conditioning for all you guys stuck on stupid with the fat jokes.
Thanks for posting that link. I have been really impressed with the knicksjournal stories. They were a great addition to the blogs.
Good stuff Durzo, thanks. I love hearing about all the things the Knicks are doing in the offseason. They really sound hungry from reading these articles. Bet they were watching the NBA finals and thinking "I want some of that". Won't be easy to say the least, but it looks like they've got the right attitude form the get go. Really looking forward to this season.
Great news. I expect good things to come of this.
welcome guys. yeah, these type of updates help get me through these slow times
Happy to read they're working out together - even happier to read Steve say Felton is in great shape.
Can't wait for the season!
All novak needs is someone to set a good screen and he's $ all day..Im still amaze this guy was never in the 3 point contest

Even money he will be next year.
Standing in the corner and watching Melo doing his thing. Cool life!!!
With the Lin thing in the past, i am very excited about Felton. I didn't watch him at all last season, so i just picture him as a Knick. I think he can get his game back in that direction.

When Felton was in shape he had good speed and could get to the basket. If he's truly committed to his conditioning there's no reason he can't be really good this season. The 17/9 he put up was real!!! He doesn't even have to get those numbers now, just be efficient and make solid passes. If his D improves along with being in shape we'll be in great position to win big.
Just think, he's got Melo and Tyson now along with Amar'e. That's a major upgrade from what he had last time!

As long as woody doesn't make the game predictable with too many post plays and ISO's..
I think Kidd is more important then Felton, he's the one that will be playing more with Novak and JR..
Why is it that everyone paints Woodson as a guy who runs iso's and lets his guys go to work? Seems like he's being confused with Mike Brown (circa Cavs & Lebron) a lot.
Atlanta didn't have truly dominant isolation guys (Horford, Smith, Johnson)...
The Knicks have one of the best one-man offensive forces in the league (in Carmelo) which allows us to play that game for stretches - which at least gives us a default game plan when defenses tighten up. However, the Knicks got a lot of guys involved on offense when he took over. We saw the golden age of JR Smith and Novak, with those guys taking over games from behind the arc, with assists free-flowing.
I'd like to think that Woodson will keep some elements of D'Antoni's offense, with a summer to plan and a training camp to test out his own ideas.
Ball movement isn't MDA's system, it's everyone's system...Every coach wants to move the ball including Woodson...LB preached it when he was here...The fact is, most our starters got hurt at the end of the season and in the playoffs, so relying on Melo became a necessity...So now the coach is painted as an isolationist...The key to the Knicks competing will be Felton and Amare getting back to their play of two years ago and integration Melo's skills...I'm sure that's the reason Felton is here and why Kidd is here...That with some tough defense....I can't wait...

Woody got his nickname of "Iso Joe" because his lack offensive variety or creativity! We haven't just made up this stuff. Also as we saw in the playoffs Woody didn't really show much creativity. IMO there's a reason he has his rep.
Felton benefitted from playing in MDA's system which is PG centric. Woody's offense was never PG centric but more like the old Piston offense where the PG stays up top and they run curls and cuts and look to feed the post. It's not a PnR heavy offense. This is Woody's chance to show his own growth as a coach. I'm sure spending time under MDA did open his eyes to other options but he has his own preferences that fit his philosophy and so I expect we'll see him return to the style he's most comfortable coaching.
Glen knows what Woody wants to do, which is why he brought in Felton, Kidd and Priggy.

I disagree. Pablo and Kidd were brought in to mentor Lin. Grunwald brought Woodson in because he knew what he had in mike, knew the d had to improve, and that after struggling for 3 years if mike wasn't working out he had his guy in place. Woodson wasn't asked to bring in an offensive assistant. Let's give him a training camp before assuming he needs players to help him because he is so inept offensively.

An offense doesn't have to be point guard centric for there to be ball movement...I recalled an interview from last year where Woody was saying he wanted to stress ball movement...He said he came into the league with a great ball movement coach in Red Holtzman, he was an assistant under another great ball movement coach in Larry Brown when they won a Championship...He also said he would run some of MDA offensive sets but it would also be silly not to incorporate what Melo does well...Last year in the playoffs, 4 starters weren't playing or were 100% healthy...Woody had no choice but to be heavily reliant on Melo like MDA was the year before in the playoffs...Woody will be fine, i'm not worried...

Lin was never in plans. And MSG is not some kind of youth farm. We do not need "mentors". Our playesr already know what to do.
And Woody also knows what to do. He should do whatever Jimmy likes to do. And he will be cool in this role, he knows the business.

I think Woodson has the job because he won at a high rate and was able to salvage the season. Lin was definitely in the plans. The only question is was his not being resigned business or personal. There is a lot of info in regards to the new cba that indicates it might have been the right business move.

I think Woodson has the job because he fired his agent at Dolan's request and Dolan could never have handled having a personality like Phil Jackson be the center of attention.
