I can't argue that we got some very good talent. But if some people are complaining cause Lin got banged up and missed some games, what are the chances it doesn't happen with the following?
Kidd - late 30's
Camby - late 30's
Kurt Thomas - late 30's
Prigioni - 35
In two years we are going to have 2 or 3 players that are 40 years old. I know we are in win now mode, but it was ridiculous to let Lin walk with everything coming off our books shortly. We needed youth, that fire. We have some very good defensive players but they are also very old and declining every year. I'm really not expecting much from the new guys, not anywhere near what I knew Lin would have given us. Yeah, I'm all for experience, but I do wonder how that helps us against über athletic teams like Miami.

Pretty much. The same guys crying about Lin are the same guys that wept when Gallo was taken from their warm embrace.
Wrong. If im crying about Lin its because it is justified. I can usually make a case for losing a beloved player like lee and even ewing. Losing Lin is just inexplicabke
Can't see how a small sample size(25 starts) can justify a $25 million payday. That's like paying Jerome James $30million for 1 great first round playoff series he had with the Seattle Sonics.
Oh no! You pulled out the "Jerome James" card?
Ouch!
KNicks historically we got a whole deck of cards to play with!
KNicks paid Larry Brown 18mm for ONE SEASON!
Paid Marbury 20mm to go home! And we took Penny's contract to get this guy! Add Penny's 30 mil to Marbury's!
Paid Jailin Rose's last money.
And we can't fine the Money to pay for Lin?
Exactly great points Nalod! Thanks for backing my post. Now the Knicks actually are making good basketball moves.
So after squandering almost 200mm paying Lin a good contract to block any poisen pill before it becomes an issue is a good move.
Its like a crack addict who also drinks a quart of gin each day and smokes 2 packs of cigeretts refuse a Diet Coke because "suger subsitutes are not good for you".
Right. It's a new era of "Responsible" management. Who wants to see the same pattern of that last decade(Layden and IT overspending, trading, and flipping bad contract for bad contract) over and over again. Now you're seeing what I'm seeing. Everyone's signed up for the same time frame. All the big contracts are main players on the team, and the role players are easily moveable. If we don't succeed, 3 years from now we can blow it up no problem. All I know is the roster currently constructed actually makes sense. First time in awhile, we can say that about he Knicks. Lin only thrived really under D'Antoni's system. He was average under Woodson's system, and is probably average for the rest of his career. Don't think you can give Rondo money in year 3 to an average point guard.
One more time:
It never should have gotten to the point where a Poison Pill is presented. Don't leave ourselves volunerable.
Once we let Lin free to get offers we lost control. We would not have had to pay him "rondo" money.
Believe someone stated under this CBA we could only offer Lin a meager contract, some would say would be considered a "lowball" offer. Hiring that Shark agency, would be doubtful we'd get a reasonable contract offer from Houston, especially the 2nd reneged one. We actually hooked Lin up by letting him set the market.

Pretty sure Kidd and Felton are known for their durability. Prigioni seems like a freak of nature in incredible shape that just keeps playing at a high level at the highest tier of Euro ball outside of the NBA. Pretty sure Felton, Kidd, and Prigioni will not get stripped in the backcourt by the likes of Mario Chalmers and Norris Cole. If you've watched any of the Olympics, Prigioni simply doesn't turn the ball over. Kidd we all know about(Dallas '11 run). Felton, hopefully can rekindle that magic he had with Amare.

100% correct.

I LOVE kid and camby, especially when they were in their primes.. but lets be real, those guys are nearing 40, prigioni is a mystery, and brewer is garbage...
we did get more experienced, but we also got old.. don't forget, we also let fields go as well..

True, but none of them will be expected to take on primary roles with the team.
In reduced capacity all should do fine.
Just curious, why don't you like Brewer?

not only that nalod, but don't we pay lottery picks millions of dollars before they play one NBA game. at least with lin we got to see him play 25, at a high level..

and I am pretty sure none of them will be beating chalmers or anyone off the dribble the way lin did.. you guys are funny, you take one game in which lin struggled and oh by the way, carmelo and the other vets got housed by miami as well..
Lin has served up every team he played against.... kidd, no longer drives...prigioni? really? what does this guy do? who knows... I mean how many 35 year old euro players come to the nba? and do well? felton? he was horrible last year...
say what you want.. lin brought a dynamic most teams kill for..
no team is going to game plan for our backcourt.... the fact that miami game planned for lin, speaks voulumes!!!

That's fine, but just because a players role is small doesn't mean they won't have value.
Camby is a solid choice for when tyson gets in foul trouble or needs a breather, and the team shouldn't lose their reboounding and post defense with him out....improvement.
Kidd as a backup at worst is an improvement over Bibby who played every three games, and toney douglas...improvement.
Brewer has always been viewed at a solid defender, yes his offense is crap, but he does move well without the ball, and considering what fields gave last year, Brewer is an improvement there as well.
Kurts role...be ready to plays and soak up some hard fouls, and likely wouldn't be here except to get felton a couple more dollars.
Don't know how Pablo will adjust to the nba, he is an unknown for sure.
Overall I like the moves, considering we're cash strapped.
Which he didn't.
They let Mario chalmers of all people shut him down, that was embarassing to watch.

Linsanity died against the Hornets, buried against the Heat.

This is more than likely what was happening in practice with the Warriors and Rockets which is why both teams cut him but nobody wants to believe that. Linsanity was a nice story but lets not act like it was a a full season , Don't know if there are any Yankee fans here but I remember Joba Chamberlain for 2 months in 2007 was lights out , people were calling him the next Roger Clemens and after that sucked, remember Shane Spencer hitting 10 home runs in September 3 of which were grand slams , next season sucked, anyone remember Shelley Duncan came up and was on fire and then trash the next season, and don't give me oh baseball is a different sport the pitchers figure you out and batters , the point is 25 games IS A SMALL SAMPLE!!

Last time I checked, Woodson nor Melo have the authority to write checks to players. It was Dolan's call not to open up his wallet for Lin. Your hatred for Melo will not allow you to believe that their is some good in him. There are 2 articles in this thread, one I posted and another one by Chuck where Lin himself vouches for Melo, yet you brush it off as PR rhetoric. You are letting your emotions get in the way of logical posts.
