Yes.. Melo was amazing in the playoffs. Everyone stands around to watch one guy do it his way. Now lets lavish that guy for his epic efforts.
Whose team it is???...Where are u getting all this crap from...I like Amare a lot..But personally I'm tired of hearing all the off season chest thumping he has been doing the last two years...It's time for him to shut the FK up and show up for a full season...Give us a chance to hold Melo accountable in the playoffs...Jesus..U guys pick sides and just ride it into the ground beyond reason...

gunsnewing wrote:Fair points. Amare needs to finish the season on a good note in his third year. The first two years were EPIC failures. $100MIL FAILURES. RIGHT NOW I AM DOWN ON THE WHOLE TEAM. I CANT PLAY FAVORITES NOT WITH this team. Not until they accomplish something and maybe win me over. Lin and shump are the two guys i could get behind but both are missing
The first year was not a failure at all- sheesh, what standard are people holding him to? He was a beast in his first year, re-established the Knicks from the joke that it had become, and made it an attractive destination for Melo (and in turn Tyson). Second year was a disaster, but the first year wasn't at all. Really did people think Amar'e should have taken us o the championship in his first year?! Watch what Lin does with the Rockets in his first year- does that mean he sucks when they only win 20 games?

There is no need to bring your anti melo, pro mda (therefore pro amare) into this. This is about comments that Amare made about his defense (I can't even write that without laughing).
There is no need for you to derail this with your MDA nut sack excursion.
mrKnickShot wrote:As hilarious as this Headline is, does anyone remember any players who became a good defensive player after being in the league for as long as Amare?I will settle for OK - but I know that I am probably in dreamland.
Here is another example of Amare saying a lot "stuff" - we need to see it on the court, Amare! Not just to the media in pre-season.
He's not a bad one on one defender, his help defense (besides the occasional block) is really bad, like dumb founded bad..
Now Nash who has never ever been known for his defense, is a two time MVP under the same coach who knows very little about defensive schemes.
But like some have pointed out (LJ and Houston) under a defensive minded coach who has a much better understanding, your not going to see the absent minded mistakes that poor defenders make because you will be practicing defensive rotations, instead of switching every time the ball moves from player to player..
You won't see Amare guarding his man, then as soon as the ball moves, he's some how guarding a PG, or amare letting his man (who can't shoot from deep) drag him way out on the baseline and opening up the paint, or amare playing defense with his back turn from the ball handler..
EnySpree wrote:AnubisADL wrote:Amare should shut up at this point. Guy does too much talking with little to back it up.I totally agree.....vets need to step in and tell him to shut the fuck up.
+1
You can't possibly believe all this coaches including Woody just failed to show him where he needed to be on the floor or what rotation or posture he should have!!!
Hiss defense is downright embarrassing. Constantly losing his man, rarely boxing out and not hustling to get back into plays.
He's one of the guys who often speaks his mind and talks about championships, leadership, defense, deflecting blame away from everyone put himself.
This team needs to accomplish before it opens it's mouth
nixluva wrote:Sometimes I really wonder if fans know what they're watching. Woody uses the SAME switching defense as MDA. The key is that when you have good defensive players they don't have to switch as much and when they do switch they do it correctly and they get help from the rest of the team. It's still about TEAM D more than anything else. Amare fails because he is not focused nor mentally sound in what he should do on D. This is not because he played for MDA! Amare also played for Eddie Johnson, Terry Porter and Alvin Gentry. Amare also had several defensive assistant coaches and many good defensive teammates. His poor D is all his own fault. You can't possibly believe all this coaches including Woody just failed to show him where he needed to be on the floor or what rotation or posture he should have!!!
He played better defense for Woody after MDA left - he certainly gave more effort.
If MDA was a good defensive coach then Steve Kerr would not have asked/wanted/needed to bring in a defensive coach - lets forget about the knicks needing to bring in Woody since the Knicks brass are a bunch of tools so what would they know.

Speak for yourself....The thread was focused on a recent comment by Stat which was in the news. If you take off the black-n-white shades, you'd realize that a thread that knocks on Amare doesn't always equate to being pro-Melo....

But the problem is we fans think they lack motivation or ability.
Reality I fear is these guys just can't do it on both ends for 38 minutes a nite and "entertain" the fans.
Fans want to see points scored.
Fans want hustle and effort! NY loved Oakley because he cared and had a set of balls - he didn't score many points and was not athletic. I think that you grossly underestimate or misrepresent the NY fans.
The defense bothers me less then the complete lack of effort on the boards.
I have completely overestimated NY knick fans.
They are just as bandwagon riders than any other. Dolan has most of your number.
"Real fans" seem to be devout supporters all things good and bad.
ONly thing is the last thing many pay attention to is the actual wins and loses.

If a fan was not sold on Lin after a roller coaster 25 games that they are a devout supporter of good and bad?
What kind of fan am I?
Pro Melo trade but I think that we overpaid
Anti signing Amare since we overpaid by 40 million (that was the second best offer)
Love Tyson but wish we could have saved the amnesty just in case Amare breaks down (mixed feelings), wish he had any offensive game
JR is a talented dope but he is from my home town so I root for him - hopefully Woody gets to him
Liked that we brought in vets since a winning team usually has a mix and we can use their leadership
Not crazy about Felton - his shot selection when he was here was very spotty - we often lived and died by his shooting. His defense is ok and he can pass. 4 million per - I can deal with.
Dont hate Woody but pined for PJax - dumb move to no call him
Oh ... and I don't like IT lurking in the shadows
I think that Dolan is a GREAT GUITARIST

I have no problem if the Nets win as long as the Knicks are better (if they are pitted against each other). It is good for NY basketball. I feel the same way about the Jets and the Mets. That is how I feel now but it is probably just pity.
Met fans hate the Yankees but I don't find that to be the case the other way around. Probably because of jealousy (which is understandable)
I watch many Net games in the Kidd era and I rooted for them in the playoffs. Lately, they have been un watchable.
