Knicks · #NBA Rank from ESPN (page 1)

I know we don't really follow this stuff much because of the ESPN/NY bias, but it's always interesting to see the outcome of these rankings. They are now in the top 100 with all Knicks accounted for except the Big 3 of Melo, Stoudemire, and Chandler, which is expected. The remaining of the Knicks expected rotation was in the the 100-200 range which is good. I think when your top 9 players in the the top 200 then it shows pretty good depth. While neither Shumpert or Felton were in the top 100, i expect both of them to be there this time next year. I believe at this point in time, our starting 5 is made up of top 100 players.

Where do you see Anthony, Stoudemire, and Chandler landing in the rankings this year? They were at 12, 13, and 37 last season. I believe Anthony should be in the top 10, but i think they will have him in the 10-15 range like last year. I think Stoudemire goes from 13 gets knocked down somewhere into the 30s. I think he will regain his top-25, all-star status this year, but after last season he barely deserves a top-40 ranking. I believe Chandler deserves a top-25 ranking this season as i definitely believe he is top-25 in terms of dominating the game, but defensive oriented players rank lower. I believe he lands somewhere around 30 in the rankings. So i think they put Melo 10-15 range, Chandler 28-33 range, and Stoudemire 35-40 range. Does that sound right? Am i off-base?

Can't disagree with that. Melo if he plays close to what he did in April, should be around the top 10-15. Amare with a bounce back year, top 25-30. Chandler because he doesn't score often, but serves as the defensive anchor, top 30-35.

I think that 10-15 overall is a fair expectation. He does have to show it consistently this year. Lots of pressure for him this year.

Where do you rank Amare?

Amare last year? Maybe top 150

That's one off year where he had a back injury. I don't think it's fair to question his contract based off of that. He actually looked good once he got his back taken care of. I'm just hoping he can have a bounce back year and get thru the season healthy. It should be easier with the team having better depth.

I think Anthony is top 10. He is coming off a summer as an olympian so conditioning shouldn't be an issue. He is playing for Woodson so I think his strengths will be emphasized/utilitized on offense. I think Amare has a big bounce back year and is in the 10-15 range. Not sure where to rate Tyson.

I certainly hope you're right, because Amare may be the biggest key this season, but seeing him in the 10-15 range is pretty optimistic thinking.

Ex-Knick and heartthrob of many here, Jeremy Lin clocks in at 78!
Nalod @ 9/13/2012 12:34 PM
replace "I think" with "I hope" and the intangable belief is better defined. "I think" introduces the tangable knowlege.

"I hope" Melo is top ten based on his summer. "I Think" once we have tangable evidence in the wins and losses there will be statistical date to support that.

"I hope" Amare returns as an improved player. "I think" if he is healthy and I think if his time with Hakeem is usable he could be even better!

I think on paper we should be better for the reasons mentioned. I hope I am right!

ChuckBuck @ 9/13/2012 12:58 PM
YIKES! That bonehead Javale McGee just overtook Jeremy Lin by 1 spot at 77.

You had a good run at 78, Jeremy, better luck next year! (upper 100s maybe?)

Stoudemire drops to 43 from 13... Wow. Completely fair given the year he had last year in my opinion

Yeah i thought his reputation might keep him just inside the top 40, but 43 is more than fair. I am really curious to see where the last 2 rank. Chandler was 37 last season, and given his dramatic impact he had this season transforming the Knicks defense, winning DPOY, and starting on the Olympic team, he absolutely deserves top-25 recognition. Anthony will be interesting too. If he is judged on his overall year, which statistically was a down-year, he probably lands 15-20. But if they judge him on his last season dominance and Olympics play, he definitely gets top-10. My guess is he finishes somewhere in between at 10-15 but he is definitely top 10.

Knixkik @ 9/20/2012 3:36 PM
Chandler is a lock for top 25. Glad he is getting that star respect.
Nalod @ 9/20/2012 4:41 PM

They can increase their own rankings by winning.

Thats the only rank I care about.

ChuckBuck @ 9/24/2012 10:04 AM
Nice Tyson at 23! Congrats big man.

Looks like Melo will coming up soon in the top 20.

ChuckBuck @ 9/24/2012 3:16 PM
Melo at 17, can't hate on that based on his awful, injury riddled first half of the lockout season.

No excuses left for this season, offseason Olympics to stay in shape, pre pre training camp before the actual training camp, everyone pretty much healthy around him...time to show and prove Melo!

On CBS.com NBA Player Rankings Melo turns up 21....

Hey it's not an uncommon opinion about him as a player.

http://www.cbssports.com/nba/blog/eye-on...

Knixkik @ 9/28/2012 7:26 PM
It's not uncommon as a ranking because it is based on success of the team, not the individual player. Only real exception seems to be Kevin Love for some reason. A guy like Tony Parker climbs up because his team was good this year. Same with Westbrook. I feel like Knicks also get lower ratings because of media attention and scrutany is magnified. If you look at any player ratings from previous seasons, you won't see Anthony this low at all. It just has to do with the market attention. If Melo is in any other uniform, he is top 10 or 12.
