Knicks · Hey Let's Discuss Jeremy Lin's not being up to his game in Houston. He claims lingering injury?? (page 7)

earthmansurfer @ 10/13/2012 2:57 PM
In two preseason games Lin got 6 and 7 assists in 20 and 23 minutes respectfully. Didn't shoot great but those assist numbers are nice, especially considering the team he has. Oh, both were wins but I know it's only pre-season.
Will be interesting to see what, if anything, he can do with that team. It is pretty much accepted he has a bad team around him. So, let the miracle continue

he didn't say he agreed, he was pretty much stating why he thought the knicks didn't match and that was because we were already loaded with huge deals with amare, carmelo and chandler....

Pretty much why Houston's poison pill third year made the contract almost impossible to match.

Face it!! Melo and Lin cannot coexist. One or the other had to go. If Lin would have remain here we would have had a major problem. First of all I don't think Lin's body would be able to take the punishment he would get from other teams. Now he is in Houston and even if he gets the numbers he got in New York it wouldn't matter because he would be off the big stage. I think also that New York Knicks new something that Houston didn't about Lin's dourability .

There's almost no evidence that they couldn't have worked together. They didn't play together during Linsanity and then Melo wasn't trying after he came back from injury under MDA. I still can't believe that there are people who believe the Lin decision was based on anything other than Dolan's ego.

The fact of the matter is that Dolan didn't want to PAY Lin.

It's over with, can we all move on?

The amount he had to pay because of the new cba and the restrictions that would be on the team made it a very tough contract to match. It was probably the smart business decision. It may have been an emotional decision reaction on Dolan's part but it also may have just been business.

Which would be the first time in Dolan's tenure that he gave a shit how much money he was spending. He spent a hell of a lot more money for a team that went 23-59 under Larry Brown than he would have if we matched Lin's contract.

Patently false Papabear. There is no evidence of what you are claiming. None.

First, Lin will attract the same amount of attention from opposing teams in Houston. The size of the stage is irrelevant.

Second, Lin's "dourability" had nothing to do with Mike Woodson wanting Lin to be his starter. Their dinner meeting was an important part of Woodson's Summer itenerary as he kept close tabsl on players. The second time Lin went back to Houston was the killer. Dolan felt if Lin did not wan to be in New York, he was not worth the hassle - or the backloaded deal. Carmelo Anthony was NEVER a consideration - unless you can cite valid evidence - it is a bogus and silly claim.

I can agree that it was personal but the Knicks told him to get a deal and they would match anything (essentially). The Knicks didn't even offer him what they could. Lin went back to Houston because they asked him to, not because Lin was doing something diabolical. The way it was handled was stupid on Dolans part. Anyway, the Knicks are looking good so far, let's hope that continues when Stat and Melo are both out there. That is the question on all of our minds...

Nalod @ 10/14/2012 4:48 PM

Knicks handled it bad. They did not get their man.

If they did not want him I don't think Woody goes on record to say he is the starter or we don't some how orchestrate some type of sign and trade.

They guy never started in the NBA and that will shock anyones body and wear it down. He has to build it up.

Can he sustain for 82 games?

Tune in and find out. Why argue it? The games will tell the tale.

Lin struggled today shot 1-10 and hasn't found his shot thus far but I think he'll figure it out.

Not to go without saying the Rockets have a find in Scott Machado the guys had a very nice pre-season if I recall correctly.

Like I have been saying the last few months, Lin needs to work on his fg%, to, ball handling and left. It is just pre-season and I am sure he will do somewhat better than today's showing during the season, however, all these people calling Lin a "gift" and predicting 20 and 10 have grotesquely overvalued Lin and Linsanity.

I can Lin doing something like 15 & 6 in HOU with high to and bad fg%.

Tough times for everybody’s favorite point guard. Everybody but James Dolan, that is.

More than six months after undergoing surgery to repair a torn meniscus, not exactly a catastrophic injury by any stretch, Jeremy Lin continues to cite problems with his left knee for his early struggles with the Rockets.

“My speed and my explosiveness and my agility (are not) there yet,” Lin said the other day.

So it was hardly ideal circumstances when the ex-Knick made his Houston debut against the Thunder’s Russell Westbrook. even if Lin had two completely healthy knees, that’s a mismatch, going up against one of the NBA’s top athletes.

Predictably, in his first action since injuring his knee last March against Detroit at the Garden, it got ugly in a hurry. Lin made only one shot and couldn’t stay with the fleet Westbrook, who went for 19 points in 16 first-half minutes.

While some Rockets coaches have confided that Lin needs to work harder to improve his play, he points to his knee as the chief problem.
“I’m still trying to recover from knee surgery and get to where I was pre-surgery,’’ Lin said.

Perhaps wisely, he didn’t venture a guess as to what percentage his knee is feeling, at this point.

Lin didn’t have microfracture surgery or tear his ACL, so we can now safely assume that he’s one of the world’s slowest healers. But let’s also remember that even before his storybook career in New York effectively ended against the Pistons, he was anything but a premier athlete. Any problem he might have because of the knee in the future is going to make the Rockets’ $25 million investment look even more ridiculous than it did last July. When you consider that his old team was able to spend that amount of money to go with Raymond Felton ($15 million) and Jason Kidd ($9.3 mil) at his old position, you can see that the Rockets overpaid.

But what’s done is done. This past week, the Rockets might have gotten a preview of what could be in store for the face of their franchise.

“More than a problem with his knee, what I saw again from Lin is that he is limited as an athlete,’’ was how one person with years of NBA experience put it after seeing Lin’s debut. “Offensively, he should be fine. But when he has to guard opposing point guards, especially guys with speed like Russell Westbrook, he is going to really struggle.’’

Sounds like more tough times ahead for Jeremy Lin.

Jeremy Lin versus SA this morning: 25 min., 1-10, 1 assist, 2 TOs, 4 pts.

I like Lin but how is a MCL taking so long to heal? Hope it does.

I checked the box score and saw that Eddy Curry played 19 minutes for San Antonio. I beleive he was 5-5 from the field.

Curry I believe has played every game for them thus far and has contributed nicely. He's shooting like 70%fg 21-30fg. Two teams with high standards Heat and Spurs managed to take a chance on him, he remains in shape for both teams and although the Heat didn't retain him.... probably due to style of play the Spurs take a chance on him and incorporate him into what they do. Now he's logging as many minutes as any other role player in Pre-Season. Meanwhile we couldn't get through to him as a player or person.

He's playing about 17min/gm

He's had games outside of scoring with

3reb/1ast//2stl/2blk
4reb/1ast/1blk
8reb/1stl

ESPN doesn't even have a pic for his player profile that's how much of a forgotten memory he is. I don't like Curry at all but I do find this disturbing to an extent. It's like I wonder what our support system is like within the organization. I do believe efforts were made to reach Curry but what it done with the right execution/approach. Oh well he's no longer here but appears he will be a part of the Spurs roster who would of thunk.

I think Walsh tried to get something out of him. Remember he had him working with a trainer and not practicing with the team. Curry physically looked very good after working with the trainer Walsh had him with but he never got a chance to play with D'Ant. Not sure that it would have made a difference with Curry but it appeared to me at the time that Walsh thought if he got into shape he might get to play.
Nalod @ 10/14/2012 11:45 PM
Regarding Curry, I don't think his exile is the Knicks fault. Since the 07-08 seasons (3) he has only played 24 games. Last year he got into 14 games with Miami.

The less money he has the harder he plays. He will be 30 this year!

Spurs might be able to get it out of him.

This is not on the knicks failure, this guy did not come to play since he was 25!

I's going to be a long season for the Rockets , Lin is going to get exposed now that he is not in Dantoni's system and the league knows his tendencies
