Curry I believe has played every game for them thus far and has contributed nicely. He's shooting like 70%fg 21-30fg. Two teams with high standards Heat and Spurs managed to take a chance on him, he remains in shape for both teams and although the Heat didn't retain him.... probably due to style of play the Spurs take a chance on him and incorporate him into what they do. Now he's logging as many minutes as any other role player in Pre-Season. Meanwhile we couldn't get through to him as a player or person. He's playing about 17min/gm

ESPN doesn't even have a pic for his player profile that's how much of a forgotten memory he is. I don't like Curry at all but I do find this disturbing to an extent. It's like I wonder what our support system is like within the organization. I do believe efforts were made to reach Curry but what it done with the right execution/approach. Oh well he's no longer here but appears he will be a part of the Spurs roster who would of thunk.
Walsh did try to give him a shot but, he kept coming up with small nagging injuries. Hamstring one month, strained calf another. There was a plethora of following injures that kept him on the shelf.I watched the San Antonio game and was like, wtf, that's Eddy Curry from his 2nd season in NY. Dude was looking light on his feet and even "tried" on defense.
Playing for Pop, dude is going to be in shape and play the right way or Pop will tear him a brand new bunghole. Also, he has to realize that this might be his last chance at reviving his career. No one every doubted Eddy's ability, we just doubted his commitment.
This must speak volumes to the crack medical staff we have. He kept getting hurt here, yet he manages to keep a good bill of health and shape for 2 teams over a season and a half? You make mention of the effort well he was coming to the end of his contract with us he wasn't HUNGRY enough to try?
I think it doesn't help when you consider our media too. We always have to publicize every little detail about what these players are doing or aren't doing. I do recall when he was getting in shape his agent took it personal in the media we tried to get Curry under 300lbs. He specifically said it's not going to happen.
Hahaha it's the Knicks medical staff and media's fault that Eddie Curry almost ate himself out of the league and has a sucky heart...

Ah Bs.... go ask the nets and the raptors whom he did very well against twice... it is funny how you pick and choose two games in which he didn't do so well the second game, and you then draw a conclusion.... how many bad games did felton have last year? felton had more back, to back to back bad games than he had good games.. heck we can say the same for this entire knicks roster..... this is so typical.... Well, we will see how things pan out with Lin. He clearly has proven he belongs in the NBA. The question is whether he will be a star/superstar as some here believe or a role player at best. Right now, he is definitely not a star and grossly overpaid, imo. He has potential to be really good but has several glaring deficiencies the main ones being running an offense and excessive turnovers. If he can improve on those two things then he should be a good pg in the long run.
My opinion on the Rockets is that they clearly dropped the ball in letting Dragic and Lowry get away then signing Lin who is inferior to Dragic and Lowry in just about every way possible.
I hope he does well and more importantly Felton do well here. If felton gets the job done its immaterial waht Lin does.

LIN HAS a ways to go to prove himself, I look at him like I do most rookies..
as far as being overpaid.. AS knicks fans we can't talk.. we have a team full of them..
Thought this was an even handed look at Lin's game. Only preseason so its way too soon to write his obit.

No, not really. Multiple teams were lining up to pay Melo. Chandler is worth every penny. Novak and JR are paid probably below their market value. Felton signed for cheap. Amar'e has averaged 22 and 8 and over a block as a Knick and is earning his contract. Shump. is on a rookie deal.
Who exactly is being overpaid on the Knicks?!?! How many teams were lining up to give Lin a contract like the one he got from the Rockets?!?!

Lin can score. That I agree with. However, he is a pg so his inability to handle the ball with both hands and avoid turnovers is extremely problematic. I think he will put up around 15 to 18 ppg in Hou with bad fg% and high to.
earthmansurfer wrote:Anyone see what Scott Machado did in that same game that Lin threw up a stinker? He had like 7 assists in 20 minutes, 3/8 fg's. I really don't know why we didn't pick this kid up as a future pg like many of us wanted. Or how about that other rookie pg that articles a couple of months ago said we were hot on? I know we only have a 3 year window, but why not bring in some youth at the pg position, especially when there were a few promising prospects.
Amar'e, Melo and Chandler are all vets and older. I think the Knicks decided to get experienced vets rather than a young player that would need to be groomed and learn from their mistakes the next few seasons. It is a sound strategy. I do like that the Knicks refused to trade Shumpert who should develop into a very good combo guard.

Multiple teams lining up to pay and/or trade for Melo have little to do with being overpaid. Overpaid has more to do with productivity and results.
Amar'e and Melo are essentially the 5th and 6th highest paid players this season if you eliminate Gilbert Arenas who is not on an NBA roster at the moment. I'd qualify that as overpaid as it gets.

I've been concerned with his turnovers as well. A part of the problem with his turnovers IMO is he has trouble knowing when to abort a drive to the rim and reset. Its one of the reasons why Nash is so good.
With all the youth and inexperience on the Rockets, they should consider bringing in a seasoned vet who would be willing to mentor Lin like Kidd would have or hire an assistant who used to be a quality PG, if they don't have one on the staff already.
In the end its up to Lin to recognize his weaknesses and work diligently on making them his strengths. Lin has acknowledged that he hasn't played well (which is good) but at some point he has to stop talking about his knee. It may very well be limiting his explosiveness but coaches don't want to hear that for the most part and after a while his teammates will feel the same way.

Definitely was a fun ride. If Lin wants to be on Nash's level he can never be satisfied with his game and work on it as long as he is in the league. Its what the great ones do.

Lin may get better. As for Nash, he was never deficient in regards to ball handling and ball control.
Per 36 rookie year (combined Lins first two years):
Nash: 65 games- 11.2 pts, 7.3 assist, 3.3 TOV
Lin: 64 games- 17.3 pts, 7.6 assist, 4.2 TOV
Nash was not exactly projecting to be a 2 time MVP was he?
Conclusion?
None!!!!! Lets come back in 5-6 years. Nash was an allstar in his 5th year at age 27.
I doubt he is as good as Nash but lets be real. It was about money.
