Knicks · Amare knee? (page 2)

Woodson said it's a just a bruised knee. With this minor injury, if it was a regular season game Amar'e would play but since its preseason he won't allow him to play.

I don't care if he's out now, as long as, he's in the lineup starting Nov 1st logging in 30 minutes a game without issues.

Thats the most important thing. The first preseason game isnt a big deal i dont think

gunsnewing @ 10/11/2012 2:35 PM
it isnt until he starts using it as another excuse as to why he is struggling or injured
3G4G @ 10/11/2012 2:37 PM
Here's hoping Melo makes that sacrifice and plays POWER FORWARD tonight since Amar'e has an oweee

Since the games are here FULL TRAINING CAMP is now under everyone's belt.

I wonder what Anibus thinks of this?

Little early for: "Keep him fresh for the playoffs!"

Got another excuse: "Knicks only played 5 preseason games!"

Most teams are playing 8!

Do they count? Nope.

Are they important? Yep!

Last I checked Nowitzki, Wade, Kobe and a host of other major players are missing time this preseason. Good effort as always Nalod!

Last I checked you popped in a thread yesterday quick to clown a former Knick for not being back to 100%. The difference though he actually played in his first pre-season game.

Otoh Amar'e will sit because of a "bruised knee". Not a good look but I'll support the team exercising on the side of caution.

Speaking of calling people out from other threads, I see you haven't responded to Smacks post in the "Vegas thread....."

Knicks fans used to be proud, non whiners and now too many are ready to cry, moan and b**ch about the smallest thing. NBA players get small injuries all the time. How can anyone avoid banging knees with another player or twisting his ankle. It's just the odds. There has to be some sense reason in the Knicks fanbase. Are we gonna do this all year with every little nick and scrape?

Can you offer your profound wisdom as to why other Knick fans joked about a former Knick player discussing not being fully healthy? Just curious

We do finally agree on something I don't feel Amar'e's knee hurting is that big a deal and felt this as soon as the story broke.

Amare has been injured most of his career. Whether it's a minor injury or not, nobody should be surprised if he misses time this year with some type of injury. He is 30 in November and the body of an athlete doesn't improve after that age. This is really his last season where we can maybe expect something close to All-Star play out of him. With his injury history, age and years in the league it is simply asking too much to expect him to play at a high level for much longer.

Actually Amare only really misses time due to major injuries. Look at his career stats. Most seasons if it wasn't for a major injury, he was playing a full season, or nearly full. Look at guys like Bosh and Wade. They are guaranteed to miss 10-20 games per year no matter what, mostly because of minor injuries. When you look at Amare however, that is not the case. Unless he has a major injury like knee, back, eye, etc, he will be relatively durable. He does not miss time due to minor injuries.

A back injury like LJ played with does not necessarily cause him to miss time. It just causes him to be less of a player.

Thats true LJ didnt miss much time from what i remember. However he wasnt the same player as he was in Charlotte

Plus people go on about Amar'e declining physically, but the truth is a lot of players actually become better overall in their 30s as wisdom and experience kick in- look at Paul Pierce, heck look at LJ. Sure Amar'e needs to develop his game, but he's working on it. I don't get where this idea has kicked in that players in their 30s are past it just because their athleticism isn't what it used to be.

seems to me the concern is he has used his strength to do a bit of his work rather than skills that can be used outside of being fast/strong/jump high. he needs to do things differently as he losses his physical attributes, the issue is can he... thats the dilemma i would figure most pro players face as they age...

I agree, it only becomes a problem IMO when a player acts like he's still in his prime and doesn't try to change his game to better fit his declining athleticism. I don't see Stat as being that kind of player.

agreed. Him working with Hakeem on his post up moves proves that. I mean if he didnt care he wouldnt have bothered. Also i heard it cost him 100000

while he came out of high school and probably never had to learn some basics, he probably should have been trying to do this a bit sooner. maybe he did and it wasnt public info, still ill believe it when i see him work this into some games effectively.
