David Lee is not getting us over the hump. Healthy Amare is a difference maker. Healthy Lee is a role player.

Whats better? David Lee playing or Amare on IR?
David Lee is not a worse defender as is a far far far better rebounder. He also moves the ball much better. He might fit better on this team.

No way this is just 2-3weeks. I'm thinking more like 6weeks and then it will take a long time for him to get in game shape. Then by year 3 of his contract he might see some resemblance of chemistry with Melo and Tyson.
Team isn't going to compete without guys who can produce in the playoffs.
David Lee is not a difference maker. Sadly he is the best we are going to get.

You keep saying he isn't a difference maker, how much more of difference are expecting than a PF that plays every game, grabs you 10 boards, get's 20 points in his sleep and can you start the offense threw him in the high post because he is a great passer???
What is a difference maker to you, because Lee is all-star production on any team he plays on.

Did you examine his knee?!?!
i'm not trading amare for more contracts..besides, you get nothing in return for his contract as his value just took a nose dive, he'll have a good stretch run, and thats when you listen to offers..
Right now you will ened up getting a Ewing type trade and no one wants to go down that road once more

play josh at pf, martin at sf and chandler at center.. I can roll with that..

For how long?? Until you get mad at them and then you will want them to be traded also? Neither are going anywhere until we see what we have.

It's odd that TKF hates Melo but would like K-Mart who plays less defense than Melo, passes less than Melo, rebounds less than Melo and shoots an inferior fg% to Melo.
I don't even understand how a thread about Amar'e being injured spins off into a discussion re. trading Melo. LoL!

Lee would fit very well between melo and chandler.

Lee has improved every year, one of the most under rated efficient offensive players in the league with FG%, FT% and attempts, and has a post game/high IQ/good mid range shot/ ability to penetrate/pass/ facilitate and finish. His all round skills and ability to handle the ball allows his team mates to play off the ball and does not need the ball to be effective.
As a forward with some guard skills, he would compliment this team much better than Amare while Amare will have the edge on Center with his size. With Chandler able to help Lee and patrol the paint, Lee's DEF at PF fits much better than Amare. Problem is Lee's contract is 1 year longer than Amare's, in 3 years when Chandler/Amare/Melo's *although he can opt out 1 year earlier*, the Knick's would lose the flexibility at retooling with all the FA's that would be in the market with many PG's and PF/C.
FA's
Dragic *player option*, Lin, Love, Aldridge, *Irving is highly unlikely to be available as he would get a max extension, under rookie contract*
The Knick's would have to ability to spend their salary cap wisely, creating a much more balanced roster, while not over paying for 2 max FA's that do not have holes to their games.
With Kidd/Camby retired, they would still have the ability to create S&T's with Melo, Amare, Tyson, as assets like what the Nets did, and decide who would be staying.
I was thinking more about it and the only way to get value for Amare is to package him with Tyson Chandler.
I'm not opposed to losing Chandler if we get the right pieces back.
Stat is untradable.
The only way to get read of his contract is to amnesty him.

No team is taking back $35mil in Salary giving back value. You're nuts. It's not Chandler is exactly a player you want to be anchored with either health wise. He's liable to crumble himself.
Packing Amar'e with Shumpert may get us some value.

Amare and Chandler give a mediocre team a solid front court. Knicks are going to have to rebuild on the fly around Melo.
Isn't Stat from down south???
I think knicks could get a deal of Ben Gordon and Tyrus Thomas at best and go from there.
TC/Camby
TT/Novack/Copeland
Melo/Brewer/Shumps
JR/Gordon/Shumps
Felton/Kidd/PP

LOL and a NixLuva defending Amare about his POST game and All Star status....
Josh Smith and David Lee are 2 players that I think just fit much better than Amare in the starting lineup, next choice would be Aldridge.
With Smith and Lee, our rebounding, defense, and spacing would improve much better with their all round games/mobility and would fit much better.
However, I do not see us able to trade for those players.
No way Atlanta gives us Josh Smith. David Lee maybe but I wouldn't count on it.
AnubisADL wrote:Anji wrote:David Lee and Andris Biedrens would be a serious win for the knicks, noway we ever get that for Amare......
David Lee has 4 years left making more than Tyson Chandler.
Biedrens is GARBAGE and makes 9 million per.
Deal is pretty terrible considering David Lee plays zero defense.
And Amare play zero defense and doesn't rebound. If he can't stay healthy on top of that getting D Lee certainly isn't terrible, although I'd explore other options.

He's a great complementary offensive player who can rebound. I've never seen his post game develop but he has a consistent jumper, can put it on the floor, finish inside. He's very solid. I'm still hoping Amare actually stays healthy because 2010 Amare was a real playmaker who could create his own offense and add another element to keep defenses off balance.
I'm just hoping Knicks management retools on the fly.
Andrew Bogut, David Lee, and Jefferson/Biedrens
For
Amare and Chandler
Knicks would have cap space for summer 2014. Knicks going nowhere with Chandler and Amare up front.
