Knicks · Melo getting McGrady'd (page 1)

AnubisADL @ 10/21/2012 6:53 PM
Carmelo in his prime and came to NYC to play with Amare. Instead he gets to play with an constantly injured former allstar.

Same thing happened to McGrady with Grant Hill.

Same complaints about both guys not getting their team deep in the playoffs.

Sad indeed.

He could have waited to sign in the summer and may have had a little more help. It's not like Amar'e didn't have history and he's played a lot of basketball considering his health issues. Dudes start breaking down at 30 look at Wade look at Kobe from their shoulders to their knees.

I don't feel sorry for Melo, I feel sorry for us having to suffer once again through this mess which much could have been avoided.

AnubisADL @ 10/21/2012 7:40 PM
We all know how this story is going to end.

I don't think Amare or Grant Hill are lazy players but realistically they lead to their co-star breaking down prematurely.

Melo will break down due to min-milage/style of play/age...He's on a more natural progression of breaking down and it will have little to do with Amar'e's absence.

yellowboy90 @ 10/21/2012 8:08 PM
There is one big difference Melo has a future spot when he gets older at the 4. As e gets a step slower he will still be faster than most 4s.

life is strange indeed. ego and hubris attract funky karma and make for a heady mix.

maybe macgrady should have stayed in toronto and worked it out with his cousin carter-- ego attracts bad karma sometimes.

maybe melo should have waited for free agency. his is a case of ego and greed, and he has attracted bad karma too.

Worst case scenario Knicks deal Stoudemire in the last year of his contract and find a suitable replacement. Melo will still only be 30 and he will still have Chandler, Felton, Shumpert, etc. Still a good team he can get deep into the playoffs.
gunsnewing @ 10/21/2012 8:46 PM
Teams that get deep in the playoffs have 2, 3 sometimes 4 superstars. We don't have 1

Melo relies on his jumper a lot. He's not a reckless attacker like Wade. I think he's got plenty of years left.

He goes to the line less and less every year. Wade hasn't changed his playstyle until last year where he lacked his usual explosiveness. Wade's never shot as many jumpers as Melo has either. They have completely different approaches to the game.

he has averaged 7.8 FT attempts for his career. That is excellent. PP is at 7.4.

Don't compare him to Wade. Wade is a slashing GUARD and is of course a better player.

I thought Melo plays Bully Ball?

gunsnewing @ 10/21/2012 9:50 PM
My goodness the Lakers are stacked. on NBATV now D12 is playing
jazz74 @ 10/21/2012 11:01 PM

And Pierce is what? 35? And still effective. Where is this going? I was talking about injuries hampering Melo's game and his durability, which they won't since he relies on a lot of jumpers. When did this turn into a Pro/Anti Melo argument about how effective he is??? lol you are proving my argument...

Melo always relied to much on jumpers as does/did kobe. Can't argue with that. And, the still attack the rim enough to shoot may FT's. Nobody is perfect.

Compared Melo to PP for they careers.

No, No, NO! Compare him to Wade, to Kobe, to Lebron...compare him to Jordan, for godsakes! He relies on his jumper, yeah, that's terrible. Maybe he should rely on his ability to take opposing SG's off the dribble, or maybe, just maybe, he should be playing the 5! Yeah, that's it, Melo's post moves don't compare to Shaq or Tim Duncan!

What a fuhuckin bum.

Hate knows no logic.

Please, someone start the regular season early.
