Lin has played pretty well thus far although his shooting has been suspect. I really want to see how he plays against legit western conference teams though like OKC, LAC, SAS and the bunch.

Pretty much. I expect him to do around 15 and 6 or so with bad % and high TO. His rebounding has exceeded my expectations. Let's see how he holds up for the season.

It's funny because I have updated the thread after each game thus far this season. LoL!
The point of this thread was not to track Lin on a game by game status, just point out what he was doing during the preseason. Dont feel obligated to constantly bump this thread after every game, if so this will extend a thousand pages and as someone said, will get quite boring updating his game stats after each and every game.
The same people calling you out are the same ones who will have very few posts in game threads of Knick wins or wont even bother to jump in positive threads about Knick wins (See Holfresh's thread). If they do, it will be to place a magnifying glass over something negative despite the win. But when the Knicks lose, believe they will be all over the game thread and will be quick to start new ones to point out more negativity.

6 assists seems too low. He may or may not have a low FG% but based on his career #s, I expect that his scoring efficiency will be average or slightly above average (look at TS% or points per shot). What do you expect in terms of steals and rebounds? Those are areas he excels in.

Not sure about his rebounding numbers since he still has a small sample size and to be honest I never have paid attention to his rebounding. If he can keep rebounds at 4 to 5 per game that is a good amount for a pg. His steals will be in the range of 1.5 to 2 a game which is very good. My concerns are his TO and FG%. He seems to run the HOU offense fine otherwise.

Lin TOs and FG% is associated with him not getting any respect from the refs. A bunch of his TOs are from him getting whacked and no call. McHale needs to do a better job of working the refs.

The rbs sound reasonable. For his career he's averaged closer to 3 steals per 36 minutes. FG% is not an important stat - look at TS% or PPS. Overall there's nothing to worry about in terms of his offensive efficiency.

I think FG% is a very important stat. We can agree to disagree on that. I think Lin will do a shade over 2 steals a game at best which is excellent.

Scoring efficiency is very important. FG% is a poor indicator of it though. There's no logical explanation for counting 2s and 3s equally or for ignoring FTs when evaluating someone's scoring efficiency. If you have access to a player's TS% (and you can get it at a number of sites, including http://www.basketball-reference.com/), then you are better off using that and putting the FG% info. in the garbage can.

Lin did a little of everything but generally not a good game due to terrible shooting, again. The steals are great though.
Reg. Season Average (through 4 games):
13 points, 5.5 rebounds, 7.0 assists, 3.3 steals, 3.0 TO, 36% FG%, 23% 3PT%, 92.7% FT%
On the times that Lin actually initiated the offense, he made some great passes for open shots. Last night, Lin should have at least 10 assists again but Parsons and even Delfino missed open shots. Lin's 3 pt shooting was horrible. He seems to shoot it a little to high.

GIve me an app for my phone also. I never want to miss a moment where my favorite ex knicks mess up.
Knicks are 3-0 and it don't matter what any of these guys are doing.
Funny, the ones telling us to "Move forward" are the ones that keep bring them up.
Here is my fearless prediction: "they will have good games, some unremarkable games, and some bad games and the stats don't always tell the tale".
If the Knicks succeed, they can be all stars and I"d be happy. If the Knicks falter then the knicks are open to being critisized for its play and roster construction. Thus, the knicks control thier own destiny and public opinion.
How is that?
Its about the games man, the games!

I have seen every game so far, and last night the rockets didn't play well from Harden down to lin.. Asik has been pretty consistent as he is just a terror on the boards, very active... Although not shooting well, lin is very active and doing a lot of other things, last night just wasn't a good game for him although he did fill the stat sheet.. one thing I see, both he and harden are not getting a lot of calls and they are getting clobbered.. they now have to adjust, I expect harden to adjust faster, and hopefully lin follows...

I agree. I would also make sure one of them is on the floor at all times. When they are together, make sure Lin initiates the offense. When he is out then Harden can initiate the offense. I think McHale fell in love with what Harden did in the first 2 games and is too stupid to correct it. You let Lin play to his strength and you will see Harden flourish even more as a pure shooting guard.
