It isn't Lin's fault that Linsanity hasn't surfaced. At least not when Harden is acting like the team's PG. I believe, truly believe, if anyone wants to see Linsanity return, ship him out to the new Showtime Lakers.

You'll see some beautiful basketball being played out there in Tinsel town instead of the boring "Pass to Harden and run off to the corner and park" strategy that Sampson has employed on him.

Linsanity can only happen once. He struck like lightning. Then it was over. Poof.

Linsanity can only happen in New York. Broadway gave extra life to the excitement and the New York press loved writing the headlines. Linsanity cannot happen in Houston, Los Angeles, Capetown or Rio deJaneiro. Linsanity cannot happen in London and it absolutely cannot happen in Houston.

Linsanity was a neon bright, 25 game, moment that came and went. jeremy Lin may become an all star ahead of Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, Tony Parker and Steve Nash... but you can hear The Answer Man now and believe him later...

Linsanity ain't coming back. Ever.

RIP.

Lin is an average player, glad he's gone.

Houston is gonna want him gone soon too.

Harden is the man there now, and I honestly don't care for him either.

Can't happen in Los Angeles? It's Hollywood. New York and L.A are the only two places.

Some reactions from the Rockets boards Clutch City after the Airball fiasco(The UltimateKnicks equivalent in Houston Rocketland):

Thread title: Jeremy Lin is a joke!!!!(About 50 pages long)

I've been silent on him not putting up the same stats Kyle and Goran were last season for a longer stretch. Lin's coming off an injury they said. But THIS! THIS IS A JOKE! NO EXCUSE NOW! JEREMY LIN IS A JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still can't believe he airballed that shot...what. da. fuq

i agree. there's a reason he got cut. I've never seen a player get cut and then get a 24 mil the next year

Rafer Alston would have made that.

toney douglas and carlos defino gave us the lead and jeremy lin and james harden came in and blew it

He choked, and he deserved it!

Jeremy Lin is the most inconsistent shooter I've ever seen. Swishes two threes perfectly, and then airballs the next two.

LIN IS A SCRUB

he is atrocious.. Sad sad day when a player financial potential for the owner outweighs his performance on the court.. That's why the NBA lost me as a fan.

Well that didn't take long! The Houston natives grow restless with the "Gifted One"!

P.S. - I'm pretty sure Kevin McHale and Kelvin Sampson for whatever reason "don't trust" Lin with the rock, which is why you see the "Pass and Park" offense so much, relegating Lin to be a corner 3 pt shooter.

GustavBahler @ 11/13/2012 6:01 PM
Saw that clip of the airball, that was rough. Harden coming back down to earth, the pressure looks like its getting to Lin. They need to bring in a good veteran PG to help Lin out.
misterearl @ 11/13/2012 6:26 PM
Negatory

Syniko wrote:Can't happen in Los Angeles? It's Hollywood. New York and L.A are the only two places.

Wrong. Los Angeles is a complacent consumer market for sports. New York has the energy of being in the advertising hub.

In Los Angeles, everyone is headed for the next posh pool party in a limo. New Yorkers ride The Subway to the Garden. More energy around the games.

New Yorkers have a much better appreciation for what Lin actually accomplished. In LA's fantasyland, everyone thinks Lin's story is just another ordinary Disney story.

Hollywood is fake people acting like someone they are not. New York is a supermodel in a baseball cap, trying not to be noticed.

Jeremy Lin in LA is instantly compared to Magic Johnson. Jeremy Lin in New York is a sneeze from being cut.

Big diference.

yea because we know out of 130+ pages of game thread it was all bad for lin.. right?

I just told you it took Lowry 5-6 years to get to where he is today and you respond with "Lin must have hit his peak, i don't see anything new in 30 games"

His combine agility/speed numbers were on par or even better than most point guards who are still in the league today. He didnt look slow when he dropped 21-10-7 in Detroit did he?

If this guy can't be anointed a star based on 25 games why is it ok to label him a bust based on 7? Once he gets the green light to become more assertive he'll be fine.

Lin got the 21-10-7 stat line against Atlanta, but everything you said is spot on.

Lin had 8 FTA against the Hawks, which was how he was able to score so many points. That's the key to his game. He's neither a sharp shooter nor a volume shooter. He's a slasher who is money from the FT line.

Agree. Prior to the game, I was expecting a massacre. With the Heat losing big the night before, they will be very eager to regroup. It shows exactly that in the first quarter. But in the 2nd half, our team showed its potential.

So even though it's a loss, I am a happy camper.

Nope not angry at all. Frankly that was the most fun I have had watching a NBA game in a while. To be honest guys on this site are killing my post game buzz with there knee jerking lol. I was dying of laughter in the 4th quarter when I saw some boneheaded plays by Lin & Harden. Not even worried they will figure it out. Scott Brooks told his young OKC team "we aren't losing games we are learning how to win games". That is what the Rockets are trying to do now. Frankly the fact that we have yet to have been blown out by Memphis Nuggets Heat is remarkable. Never been more impressed by such a young team. The future is promising.

The short memory thing around here just irks me. Harden and Lin played well for most of the game, of course the Heat were going to out execute these guys in the final minutes. It would have taken a bit of luck to win against these guys and obviously we did not have it tonight as evidenced by that lame call on Morris that gave the Heat the ball and took him out of the game

No point blaming the loss on Harden or Lin. Basketball is won/lost because of one play. They both played a solid game but also had some boneheaded plays in the 4th quarter.
ChuckBuck @ 11/13/2012 10:10 PM
It's pretty apparent the Rockets coaching staff doesn't trust Lin with the ball, thus the "Pass and Park" offense.

Harden's usage rate is through the roof, and not only that he's playing 40 minutes a game. Could see him break down at some point this season due to all the use and minutes.

Surprisingly, besides the bricks and airball Lin launches, it's more the coaching staff holding Lin back.

So, are the people on this board predicting 20 and 10 for Lin this reg. season sticking with that?!?!?!?!

We all know if Felton were stinking it up this bad during the pre-season he'd be getting killed on this board....

agreed

I've said less worst than this (fact) about Jeremy 'ex knick' Lin
and I get my post 'LOCKED UP'

You cannot talk too bad about Jeremy Lin on this board
*cannot figure it out, 21 games and Jeremy Linsanity is a messiah around here or something.

I aint dumb to figure out what Lin really meant for our Knicks and what he done for NewYork, save MDA job awhile

I'll leave it at that with these stats you posted on Lin, all in all Lin could have been back as a Knick if he really chose
NY over $$$ needs and his career financial goals. Power to all the Jeremy Lin's of the world!

So Linsanity died because of Melo and now it's not returning cause of Harden??? LMAO , he had a good run it's over he's an average player at best people need to stop giving this guy excuses.

Can't even blame Harden either.

Lin barely had the ball in preseason and that was before Harden got traded for.

NO WAY!!!! Lin is well on his way to being a top 5 PG in the league. He's explosive and gets to the rim. Ray Felton isn't even close to Lin. He's good for 17 Points 10 Assists 7 Rebounds and will keep his turovers way down. It's too bad that Dolan preferred bringing back Ray Felton over Lin and let his personal feelings get in the way in what will turn out as one of the dumbest moves in the HISTORY of our franchise. Just wait and see, Lin will be killing CP3, Parker, Westbrook and the others in the Western Conference. He's just that good.

Yea, right, TKF. Just like you spent two-three years explaining to us all how you'd also take your favorite basketball player in the whole wide world in Danilo Gallinari over Carmelo Anthony. Now, you're doing it again. But this time, it's Jeremy Lin over Raymond Felton. Nothing changes with you.

The Knicks really got murded during that trade, right TKF? An MVP contender in Melo replaced a below average Gallo. Felton has since returned to New York (a big piece to that Melo trade). J.R Smith has replaced Wilson Chandler. Tyson Chandler has replaced Timofey Mozgov. Etc, etc. But yet, you spent year(s) trying to tell us Knick fans just how wrong we really were for supporting that trade. We're now stronger than ever with Melo as our center-piece. The deepest team in the NBA without question. But yet, you went on and on in regards to how Denver got the "better end of the deal" and/or why Denver had a "better future" when compared to our Knicks. Now... You're doing it again, but this time? It's Lin over Felton.

The bottom line is this, Raymond Felton's Knicks are 5-0. Jeremy Lin's Rockets are 3-4. Lets not blame it on the team that surrounds Felton/Lin either, because you've been the same fan who stated that our future was "doomed" due to the Melo trade. Now, we've built the deepest team in the league around Melo. But yeah, "drunk" Felton is 5-0. Overrated Jeremy Lin? Not so much.

Felton over Lin and it's not even close. Lin played 26 games with the Knicks (during Linsanity), got hurt, sat out the final 17-19 regular season games and also sat out the entire postseason. Felton's numbers of 2010-2011 (54 games) were better numbers than what Lin put up during Linsanity. Felton averaged 17 points and 9 assists during his first run in N.Y. Now, here in 2012-2013? Felton's numbers are once again, better than Lin's. The funny thing is this, Jeremy Lin is making more than double of what Felton's getting. It's a laughing stock joke. And if numbers don't mean anything in regards to Felton's numbers being more productive than Lin's? Well, then, wins and loses do. Felton's Knicks (our starting PG) are 5-0. The Rockets under Lin? Try 3-4.

Linsanity is dead and gone. It's no longer. It's something that happened in New York City, inside of the World's most famous arena. The underdog who had a nice little run. Lasted for all of 26 games (at the very most). The Rockets made a big time mistake. Houston fell for the ESPN Media hype. Linsanity is long gone. It's dead. It's something that'll never happen in Houston, not for the Rockets and Jeremy Lin it won't.

Lin is paid to be an average player and is looking like average player. His annual salary is slightly above the average but his contract is short in duration.

He was not paid to be avg. He might have an avg salary but he was not paid to be an avg player. Anyway, it's still early people need to at least give him half a season. Not you but in general.

There's a salary cap. Salary dictates what the performance you need from players. If the Rockets needed a well-above average PG, they should have spent more than $8 mil for 3 years.

Doesn't that mean he's paid to be a slightly above average player???

And I don't agree, there are point guards that were expected to be borderline allstars would made/make 8 million dollars.
