Knicks · Stat out through November now? (page 5)

He won't be back for a while. Amar'e probably has more lose, scarred, torn tissue than most NBAers having to go through such a procedure for the first time.

Hmpf!

I was thinking that. He is such a proud guy. He wants to be the best and trained to be that. Too bad his reality is that he needs to rest his broken down body and be more of a role player.

The risks were pretty clear when they signed him. Walsh needed to come away with something after shedding assets and picks for his first two years.

The best case scenario we can hope for IMO is that we get back Camby and JR and this team gels with Melo as the big gun and not having to worry about getting Stat and Melo to mesh. If they do better than expected, Woodson will be able to make a case to Stat that he would be needed more as instant offense off the bench and to be a stand up guy and take one for the team, so to speak.

Of course that is contigent on the team playing better than expected. With the upgrade in guard play its a possibility. Not saying its likely, but Im not ready to call the season just yet. That would be too damned depressing.

I guess the one positive is that both shump/stat will come back at the same time and give us a boost in the second half. Hopefully we can hold it together teh first half of the season. I think we can beat teh nets beacuse te nets are very overrated and have no depth. The heat game might not be pretty especially if jr and camby are out

Its depressing. Allan Houston 2.0

Plus with the new restrictive CBA we are dead in the water until he expires.

What's the big f'n deal? Lots of players get their knees cleaned out after some damage was done. He hadn't complained of any issues before the Knee Bruise and was moving well so it seems to me that it was part of the cause of the problem unless someone has proof that he was not moving well before the injury. Everything I saw of STAT was that he was moving great before the injury.

I'm hopeful that this was a smart time to do maintenance on the knee early in the season rather than try to push thru it and have it keep cropping up during the season. I must emphasize that getting your knee cleaned out after a decade of playing on it doesn't mean it's damaged beyond repair. LOTS of players get their knees scoped. This isn't even the knee he had the Microfracture done on. I look at it as a fortunate thing that this didn't happen late in the season. We may have dodge a bullet here.

I am hopeful also. I think its a big deal because its the knee he had micro fracture surgery on and it wasn't insureable. Also, his previous team would not resign him to a lengthy contract because of that knee.

I think it's been reported that it's not the same knee, but the concern is with Amir and his history of injury.

This was n honest possibility when the contract was signed so no excuses

I guess I got bad info. I thought it was the other knee. I still wouldn't make too many assumptions that the knee has all on it's own deteriorated. He hadn't shown any issues with the Knee before banging knees. I could be wrong, but until I hear that his problem is a bone on bone i'm not going to be too defeatist about his knees just yet.

It makes you wonder if they would ever be truthful about his knee if it did show he had bone on bone?

When news broke Monday night that Amar'e Stoudemire would be out another six to eight weeks, it sparked a lot of speculation as to the root of his left knee problem.

But one renowned orthopedist strongly believes that Stoudemire's recovery from the ruptured popliteal cyst isn't the only thing he's facing.

"Something else is going on in his knee besides the Baker's cyst," said Stephen E. Blythe, a Miami surgeon who's been practicing for more than 40 years and has experience treating pro athletes. "It's unusual to rest someone that long. I'd be looking at really what's wrong with the inside of his knee that causes a Baker's cyst, and how is that going to affect things?"

The doctor said that because Stoudemire is a patient of microfracture surgery in 2005, he already has some damaged bone in his knee. Therefore, some degenerative changes could have been giving him trouble lately, resulting in the popliteal cyst. While the doctor said that many regular people have asymptomatic Baker's cysts, Stoudemire's was likely larger and more symptomatic.

But even if it ruptured, and may have required a surgical procedure to clean up the inside of his knee, it wouldn't take up to eight weeks for Stoudemire to return.

"The cyst doesn't add any stability or instability to the knee at all," Blythe said. "It just bulges out in the back of your knee, and most of the time, it's symptomatic when it gets large enough that it causes mechanical symptoms in the back of the knee. But when it ruptures, the inflammation, bleeding and so forth usually go away fairly quickly."

The doctor said there is likely more knowledge on Stoudemire's knee that is yet to be released.

"There's information there that you don't know about," he said. "It sounds to me like (the Knicks) are just giving some information, but not full information about what's going in the knee. The only way you'll know if there's more to it than what they say is if the team or the surgeons are willing to give that info to you."

What we do know, however, is that Stoudemire's left knee will never be 100 percent again. In fact, another orthopedist surgeon who currently works for a championship-contending team said, "Stoudemire's knees, at this point in his career, are like a 70-year-old's." (His right knee has also been operated on.)

Knicks fans may have to deal with the reality that STAT's minutes could be curtailed, but he can still be effective in the time he plays. Perhaps that's more with the second unit?

2 to 3 days turned into 2 to 3 wks, turned into 4 to 6 wks, now 6 to 8wks, by friday it will be 8 to 10 wks, then allstar break, then playoffs..

We get more accurate news out of the white house..I bet you they have STATS xrays in a locked safe, anyone who takes it out uses a handcuff brief case and walks through out the building with security up the ass..smh..

Also we were 14-5 without Amare

He miss most of the 18-6 run, and just about all of linsanity..Copeland may turned into the new lin..he has a little fairy tale story if he can elevate his game..

Im so over Amare, when ever he's ready so-be-it..Until then why are we worried? We had a broken down JJ, a inconsistant josh and did pretty decent..

we'll be running lots of PnR and shooting just as many 3's has if MDA was at the helm..that MID RANGE jumper is going to be there all day for KT, pray he can knock down 50% of them..

wallace is even a better fit cause he an stretch a Pnr from the arc.

The only thing we really miss from Amare is his abilty to get to the line and being a 80% FT shooter, thats tough..

Other than that, he's probably going to miss the 1st 26 games, in which we will be 17-9..

I would Love to Trade Amar'e bitchass for josh Smith

"Stat" ain't shit and that's the truth.

Even healthy the guy will have another crap year, and I can officailly say he is overated as hell ..on his own I mean not comparing.

So with that said ..prove me wrong. Have a Great season without being a sofie and getting injured or injuring yourself somehow like punching a cement wall or sumthin or bumping your knee against somebody.

I still say Trade the bitch. But who's gonna swallow that contract?

There is some question about which knee it was but I think it was the one he had microfracture surgery on. Berman has said that the micro fracture surgery was on the right knee. Every other reporter that I have read has said it was the left knee that had the micro fracture surgery and had the cyst.

Hate to say it but the Nets are looking better and better ...

It's over Knicks will win 44 games and be bounced in the first round and Stat will be out for the season, the curse lives smdh

I know it was pre-season but we kind of handed it to them.

yes, the season is finally here.

Go support them then, ultimatenets is calling you. Heck, if your only interested in following the team that looks more likely to win, why don't you become a Heat fan?
