MOst insurance can pay up to 80% of a salary if a player sits 1 year.
He is a 100million dollor investment. They made the playoffs and perhaps he can advance them one more round if he was in great shape.
Use his return to sell season tix for next year. Bulls do very well at the gate.
there was little incentive for them to play him this year. their bench is crap and they still made playoffs. If Noah really can't go, then what is their upside?
Or, if you can't explain it there must be a sinister plot.

It's ridiculous when Noah is out there with severe plantar fascitis after being driven into the ground all season, Lou Deng has played ridiculous minutes all season, and Taj Gibson is playing through injury, meanwhile Rose has hasn't bothered to play a single minute despite being cleared months ago. Those other bulls player must be getting resentful by now- why do they have to battle through everything while Rose gets a pass because he might not look fantastic?

I think the insurance money is a huge part of it. Also, Noah needs to sit for awhile and maybe out for the playoffs. He was barely able to jog at the start of the second half. Guys seem to have different time tables for recovering from plantar fascia but even Lawson took about three weeks. The Bulls will have lost to the Nets without Noah by then and if he isn't able to play versus the Heat I doubt the Bulls have a chance even with a healthy rose.

He is really good. He should have been the Knicks pick in the Gallo draft. I am pretty sure that at the time I didn't think he was the right pick but I didn't think Gallo was either. Bropez, Jennings, Chandler and Lee as teammates heading into the summer of 2010. I wonder if Walsh would have handled things differently.

Wow. I had read some articles that the Lakers would amnesty Metta. Now there is speculation that they will amnesty Pau.
Pau Gasol on the other hand… the Lakers probably wouldn’t amnesty him either. But they have to consider it writes Mike Bresnahan at the Los Angeles Times.
Waiving Gasol via the “amnesty” provision in July could potentially save them more than $60 million in luxury taxes. They would still have to pay his $19.3-million salary, though he could be snapped up by a bidding team that would owe the Lakers millions to help with that cost.
The Lakers also could try to trade Gasol, but his hefty salary next season could be difficult to move and they would likely have to take back salaries totaling at least $15 million, which wouldn’t really help a goal to avoid ridiculous luxury taxes.
