Here u go Bonn..U need to be led ....Indy series percentages...

The Boston series doesn't count? Why are we not counting the reserves? They play with Melo too since he's on the court so much.
Thanks for the link. You may not realize it but it actually shows that Pablo too shot better than Melo did in the Indy series.

I think I get it now - it's just like Sir Charles. I need to be more supportive and incorrect in order to get credit from you.

Bonn..U aren't a guy looking for solutions...U are more interested in perpetuating a blind argument...Why would u look at reserves when they don't play...Your original point was that since Melo wasn't shooting well he should allow someone else with a higher percentage shoot..Novak has a higher percentage but he isn't playing is he..

Solutions aren't your goal...Anti-Melo rants are...

The solution is to share the ball better - it's not complicated.

Actually that is 43.7% shooting...Melo shot poorly at 45% for the series...So who is crisp?.

And if Melo blew a defensive assignment and let Lebron walk in for a lay up all the good stats would be erased and the war of words would continue. Until the Knicks win a title the battle will continue.

if melo was on the pacers in paul george's place the miami heat would have blown them out by 25 points.

haha, you beat me to it...

melo shot 42.8%FG against indiana.

game 1 35.7
game 2 50.0
game 3 37.5
game 4 39.1
game 5 42.9
game 6 51.7

you add these 6 figures together to get

256.9

and then you divide this number by the number of games he played which was 6

256.9 divided by 6 = 42.8 paCENT

he had a 51.1%TS

paul george last night against the nba champs had a 64.8%TS and he had 5 assists. his usg/ast ratio was 1.33:1 which is a superior number for the small forward position.

oh and he was guarding lebron james one on one all night.

Or if you count each shot rather than going by game, it's 43.3%. Either way, it's not 45. You're right that TS% is more important than FG% and that George moves the ball much better than Melo does.

So who is shooting a better percentage regardless of what the percentage is??

Do you not realize that the column indicating the shooting percentage is labeled "FG%"?

So what is the game of the individual Melo should be giving up shots for???

No one. I already said Melo should be averaging 60 shots and -0.5 assists per game.

U can't say because it makes your argument look silly...

Oh, it was a serious question? He should be sharing the ball better with everyone on the roster. The names of the players don't even matter. If you've made it to the NBA, you can hit open shots at a higher percentage than Melo (or most players) hits contested shots. How did Durant manage to average over 6 assists a game this post-season?

exactly, I forgot what player said this, but he said, it is your job as a player to play the right way and hit the open guy for the shot, not to refuse to pass to him because you think he will miss.. if that player is missing, it is up to the coach to take him out, not for you to freeze him out.... and when you are shooting as poorly as carmelo, you should pass the ball to the open man... period!

BRIGGS @ 5/23/2013 1:42 PM
That was a terrible coaching move taking out Hibbert--why exactly do you have Hibbert--to anchor your defense. So why in Gods green earth would you sit him at the most crucial defensive time? Worst case scenario with Hibbert is Chris Bosh moving outside for an 18 foot catch dn shoot with 2 seconds left.

Exactly what I was thinking. Let's see which is the lessor of 2 evils? A lefty layup by Lebron or a contested fadeaway 18-20 footer by Bosh at the buzzer...hmmm?

Vogel outcoached himself on that last play. Overanalyzed the situation.

Woody should have listened to me and pulled Hibbert away from the basket. That's why you play Amare and Copeland. Knicks had some poor shooting but Woody just didn't know how to exploit Indians weakness.

Tell me about it, that was a no brainer and we would be playing Miami not the Pacers.

Bosh/Battier>Cope/Amare. I guess Woodson lost the series when he cut Amare from 18 minutes to 7.

u mean no more staring at LeBron. Also, Andersen is an amazing cutter he really knows how to find the open spaces. Very similar to Amar'e in that ability.

Anybody can cut to the basket if Hibbert is supposed to be guarding them. He wants to guard the guy driving to the basket.

As a shooter Cope is the best and its something you have to try. Also, he didn't even try it against Mahimi for much of the series.

I do think Woodson should have played Cope more especially the way other guys were struggling. That being said, I don't think you can kill him for going more with the guys that got him there. His desperation move was game 4 and it backfired. I think most coaches tighten their rotation and go with their vets in the playoffs. Woodson seemed to lose some faith in Cope after game 1 of the Celtics series and never totally got it back. In my opinion playing cope more made sense but I don't think it swings the series.

To me Cope actually help get him there. Woody is weird with his faith in players. It was Cope first ever game and he started. I get losing faith for a game but to just go away from a player who does things you need is crazy. Woody was hypnotized by the lack of rebounds. It is what it is now. Hopefully he learns.
