Orange on orange is a terrible idea from any design point. OMG, that Bulls jersey Rose is wearing is freaking atrocious. It looks like he's wearing Silk PJ's in the shape of Jerseys. Please stop this madness. Who the heck are designing these things? FIRE THEM.
I've always figured that the Knicks would get around to having an orange alternate jersey.
I dig it, but the letters need a heavier blue trim in order for them to stand out better. The "New York" is almost invisible; it should be much more prominent on the uni.
Merchandising Can Wait
"...the NBA unveiled their Christmas Day jerseys yesterday. These had previously been leaked via video game, of course, but it’s nice to see better views of them. Would’ve been nicer still if they’d put uni numbers on most of the jerseys, but whaddaya gonna do.
There’s absolutely zero reason for these jerseys to exist (well, unless you count merchandising as a valid reason), so they’re stupid by definition. But from a strictly aesthetic standpoint, I have no problem with them — they’re nice. Well, except maybe for the Knicks’ design, but I’ll wait to see it on the court before saying for sure."

The main problem with the Knicks X unis is they are a lazy design without much thought. If there was any respect for the brand the "New York" would not "fade to Bolivian". It would be lettered (and numbered) in silver or the same shade of grey in Shump's adidas.
There would be a secondary color, preferably the gray from the new palette, as blue and white are too harsh in combination. Orange as a primary color is simply too garish to be associated with the artistic history and style traditions of New York. May as well have given the design to a graffiti artist.
At least the result would have been authentic. As it stands, our uni is just a glob of melted candy corn.
I call it the NBA "EUROLOOK"

Used to love those orange reverse jerseys you used to see in the stands.

Matt4281 - excellent research. At least yours has some contrast.
The all orange is an insult to the Knicks tradition of celebrating New York. The alternate could have employed the "Subway Token" logo on the front, not unlike the classic San Francisco Warriors jersey with "The City" and Golden Gate Bridge.
Just blinding us with all orange is creatively lazy and hurts the eyes.
agree 100%
I have one of these classics orange Allan Houston #20
these would be best choice for orange alternate jerseys if ..I were knickerbocker mgmt
