Carmelo Anthony is doing what MVPs do. Trust teammates.

Not sure Im ready to crown him MVP in 6 games as we know he is capable of carrying the team in stretches, but I'll give him credit tonite as he passed nice, Made picks, Rebounds and was a "good teamate"!!!!

Im more impressed with him tonite than if he scored 45 and we lost!

The kid earned his stars tonite!!!!!

In the past, Melo would've bulldozed or try to draw a foul on the game turning sequence.

But that hockey assist to JR for that huge 3...man, I'm proud of our boy.

That close out on Kawhi Leonard to force the 24 second violation. Awesome.

MVP's and accolades will sort themselves at the end of the season. I'm just glad he's playing winning basketball, even when the shots don't drop.

Melo has definately taken a step forward. When he made the crossover and started towards the rim I was expecting him to go straight in for a layup attempt. I know it's only been 6 games but Melo has been doing what he said he would do before the season started.

Nalod, the purpose of this thread was to just state that he will be in contention for it all year if the team sustains this kind of play for 82 games. I'm not crowning him anything, just saying that he's capable of hanging with the big boys.

Well said Cash. Melo's rebounding in traffic was huge. He took several hard hits and never stopped competing. The Spurs threw everything at him defensively and he did the intelligent thing, he kept his head up. By the time Melo hit Felton, who hit JR Smith, the Spurs were too exhausted to keep up with the ball.

“Today was a true test for us as far as us sticking together as a team, doing it as a unit on both ends. Today was a great way to show how together we are as a unit. We did it as one. The guys we have definitely know how to win basketball games."

The guys we have know how to win.

We can promote positive knick play not by the failure of others but by the accomplishment of our team.

Fair enough! He is capable!

last night was great. I finally see a role for MElo that I can fully embrace... decoy. Perfect. Pretend your going to jack shots and let the real men do the work

...

+1. This is so true. The Spurs gameplan was to take Melo out of the game. They threw multiple players at him, collapsed on him. The old Melo would've started forcing things to get his points. Instead, he found an easier way to score by trusting/enabling his teammates. Scoring nine points in a win feels much better than 39 points in a loss. Go Melo!

Fishmike thinks we'd be 6-0 under D'antoni and Gallo right now lol.

it was a bad shot, i was screaming at the TV, but it happens, he will learn, denver will be fine.. Keep trying to validate the carmelo trade.... I am sure you were saying carmelo just shot 3-12....but........ " he was a great decoy"..

The season is long... comments like this tend to haunt people...

IrishKnickFan @ 11/16/2012 10:18 AM
Melo played a good game last night. Jackson did a great job on him so instead of looking for tough shots he made some great passes and grabbed about 12 boards
Nalod @ 11/16/2012 10:19 AM
Chuck don't understand sarcasm and can't feel when his leg is being pulled.

But often thinks his chain gets yanked!

I am wondering if lebron or any other player shot 3-12 and got his shot blocked all night if people would be big upping them for getting 12 boards and saying "use me as a decoy".. I mean come on now... How is anyone going to use him as decoy when he couldn't buy a basket, again, the guy is begging for attention even when not relevant to the outcome of the game.... he was brutal last night plain and simple, and if not for the late heroics of kidd, it would have been their first loss... Kudos to jason kidd, I am a fan of his for sure, have been for some time.. Good team win.. not going to let anyone steal the team shine for one joker craving for attention..

sorry...
