Knicks · Does Anyone Appreciate How Well Raymond Felton Is Playing? (page 19)

Raymond Felton has a significant role for a NYKnicks team that is 19-6. Think about that a moment. Felton and Chandler lead the entire NBA on Alleys and Oops. The entire league.
We are good because of Felton. Not in spite of him.
alley oops are what inferior point guards resort to when they cannot dribble or pass in traffic, or maintain their dribble. you will note that this is what baron davis relied upon.
the alley oop has been an effective play but it not a substitute for orchestrating and distributing the ball. the point guard's main job is to get everyone involved and make others better.
Well in that case...How are JKidd open looks, he looks like he has a second life in NY... Brewer from the corner, Chandler under the basket when everyone in the gym knows it coming..A few more games of this and Chandler will be an all star..That inferior PG helped us to 19-6 and counting...Winning my man...Winning is all that matters...He is running the team that has the best record in the East...
that is the result of team ball movement not felton's playmaking skills. when have you see felton make a pass from the top of the key or from the lane to hit brewer in the corner? you haven't because he doesn't. chandler doesn't catch a bounce pass in traffic because felton doesn't make that kind of pass. all the alley oop is a back door play above the rim. great but so what? kidd takes up a huge amount of slack for the backcourt.
Then u need to start watching the games...U seem to be missing a huge part of the game...Quick, JKidd's game winning shot against the Nets, assist whom???...In the beginning of the season, how many bounce passes did you see Chandler miss??...How many times have u seen me call Chandler out for having bad hands??..Mostly off bounce passes in the lane from Felton...Watch the games, then expound...I agree there is good ball movement at times but how, for the life of me do u miss the attention Felton is drawing when he gets in the lane..Man are u blind or just another dude doing the spin of the facts to illustrate a slanted opinion??..Clyde is saying Felton is having a better season than DWill...He must be doing something right...All that don't matter tho...19-6 is all that matters...

VCoug - you could be missing an essential point. You play to get the ball in the basket. Tyson was close to the basket last season and we had no one to get him the ball inside on the regular.
Raymond Felton does not make Tyson Chandler better. He makes Chandler's post dunk shouts louder.
Feel good. Why? We are that good as a team.
19-6 is kinda sexy, yes?

Actually Tyson points per possession is higher this year.

What's that you say? ... our starting PG is running an offensive in which is on pace to set an all-time NBA record for fewest turnovers committed per game?
At the rate they are running wind sprints, the Knicks coaches will be the best conditioned in the league.
We went from giving the ball away last season at an alarming rate, to being the best in ball security. Worst to first.
Sounds so beautiful, don't you agree?

You're missing an essential point. You, nor anyone else, has been able to show that he's playing appreciably better this year than last or that the slight improvement this year offensively is due to Felton. If Felton is so much better than the combination of TD/Lin/Bibby/crippled-BD wouldn't he have significantly better numbers this year, similar to the improvement when he left Felton and the Bobcats for Dallas?

LoL!
I think Felton is in the mist of a shooting slump that has lasted maybe the last week or so. Other than that, Felton has been solid enough to be referred to as a possible all star by Fraizer.
Real talk

people were just waiting for him to have a slump lol. JR Smith had a similar slump for like 5 games and is out of it now. It's a long season.
At the end of the day, 19-6 don't lie, ball don't lie. I don't really care if a guy that works for me smells bad or doesn't have any teeth, if my organization is successful with this guy in the fold then there is no problem. Felton might not have any teeth, but the organization is working.

i watch the games. missed the laker game and the cavs game but i have seen all the rest. instead of your insult how about answering the question i asked without misdirection: when have you seen felton-- in traffic-- make a pass to brewer or anybody else in the corner? does felton do the alley oop to chandler more often than a bounce pass in traffic or not?
but to give you a chance to enlighten me since i so sorely need enlightening: why not make note of the time in the game where felton makes a bounce pass to chandler in traffic. it's a simple and easy task and i'll be happy to acknowledge my blindness and i mean that. "3:28 of the 3rd quarter" and the like.

Are we winning because of Felton or in spite of him? In hierarchy of importance I'd place Felton 5th behind Melo, Tyson, Kidd, and JR. Once Amare and Shump are back hopefully he'll be around 7th. I believe based on how he plays, his usage%, and his FGA/game Felton sees himself as 1st or 2nd.

Waiting? I've been saying this since the Summer. And it's not like it's been a couple of games he's slumped. In 15 November games he took 14.2 shots/games and only hit 41.8% of them. Through the first 10 games of December he's taking 19.2 shots/game while hitting only 37.5% of them. His 3-point shooting has also fallen from 40.3% in November to 34.8% in December. This is not a recipe for longterm success.

Felton has been on a slump for a week or two at most. Lin has finally began to play well within the last week after literally being terrible for most of the season, imo. Feel free to sugar coat, if you like, however reality is not lost on me.
