I see the media talking about Amare coming off the bench like its inevitable. Woodson will not bring him off the bench. You have sheed camby and kurt and you are going to add amare to the 2nd unit? There wont be enough minutes to go around. You want to keep each of those guys fresh so when there is an injury they step right in. Nothing points to Amare starting more than Melo playing the 4 versus every opponent big and small. Sheed or kurt would be starting from the beginning if Amare was going to come off the bench. Woody is clealy having melo hold down the fort for Amare. Regardless it will be Amare and Melo on the court together in the 4th.
Knicks also need to limit Brewers minutes and protect his fragile knee

when both amare and shump come back, some guys will not be playing at all.. can't play all of those guys and not all will be deserving of minutes I guess once stat and shump are in game shape....
if the knicks keep playing this way, amare and iman will have to earn their minutes back. no need to rush them into big minutes.
the reason why people want him off the bench is because their record with melo at the 4 and without amare is very good. Now maybe it will finally work but for 2 years amare/melo havent fit well together
Clearly you have to keep Amare's minutes down at around 25mins. Start him and pull him after 6mins. Who starts is not a big deal. The key is to use guys like sheed, camby and kurt to keep Amare fresh

Melo at the 4 is fools gold come playoff time. Knicks don't have their first playoff win in a dozen years without Amare dominating game 4 against Miami with half a hand

Its not like he is gonna be benched the whole game he is still an important player i just said when he first comes back he should come off the bench at first

That makes no sense. If the plan all along was to start Amare at the 4 and Melo at the 3 then Melo would have been starting at the 3 and either Kurt or Sheed would have been starting at the 4 until Amare was healthy.

Kurt was starting at the four in the preseason and while Kurt looked good the team was struggling. Sheed wasn't ready to play yet so the Knicks were thin at the four at the start of the season. Melo at the 4 worked.
what im saying is that if you bench Amare not only does Kurt ride the pine but Sheed or Camby as well. I don't see Woodson going that route at all

That stat to me is foolish...it's also the same time period that we didn't have a Point Guard and we had D'Antoni coaching. What's Melo/Stat combo record under Woodson?
The team itself had a bad record under D'Antoni..might have nothing to do Melo/Stat combo

STAT, Melo & Lin under Woodson were 6-1 before they went down to injuries. Back to Back wins over Indy who were the better team

It's like someone says something on ESPN and everyone just runs with the notion. All of a sudden Amare is a bum. SMH. Amare with one hand in the game 4 last year even did work on the Heat. He is a HUGE TALENT upgrade for this team.
Fans are even worse considering they supposedly watch the games

Fragile knee ?
Ronnie Brewer ? over Amare issues ?
I'd take shaky knees Brewer with no offense over any reliability you'd get from nice guy Amare Stout.
Just the way it is!
First, let's see Amare come back (healthy). When/if he does, for a sustained period, then and only then is this a discussion.
He needs to come back healthy (big if!), and, he needs to earn his minutes - we don't owe him anything!
If he is playing well he plays.
Hahn saying around christmas. Healthy or not is the question i agree
The Media and some fans love to talk these things up and almost will the bad to happen. It was talked about so much when Melo was out almost setting up the story before it happens. There was no guarantee that Melo was gonna struggle when he came back. My guess is that if Melo was stroking it when he came back the team would've continued to win and nothing else would've been said. He was slumping before he went down and Melo was still slumping when he came back. That happens sometimes and it doesn't prove anything. Later as was pointed out, the team won with both STAT and Melo played. The one playoff win was with both players!!! We have PG's now and Woody has a solid plan on how he wants this team to play. He'll figure it out.

It will be interesting to see how the guard minutes get broken up if Shump comes back and can play at the level he left off at.U will have Kidd,JR Smith,Iman Shumpert,Ronnie Brewer all fighting for minutes at the 2.Maybe they trade someone for a draft pick. I think Amare will end up killing this teams defensive mentality. If he wont play defense they need to glue him to the bench.
Amare will start once he's healthy, this small ball is a temporary solution Melo cannot play the 4 position for 82 games taking the beating he is. I never understood why Amare wasn't a good defender throughout his career he had size speed and athleticism .
I dont understand why everyone is questioning this some much.. actually i do understand it. Yes, they stuggled last year playing together. I agree. This year is completely different. We have Kidd, Felton, and Prigs. These are all seasoned point guards that can all run a team effectively. They will find a way to intergrate both of them on the offensive side at least. The only question at this point is if Melo will be as effective guarding the 3, and if Stat will learn to play defense. but i am not concerned on the offensive side.
