You are right, it wont. But MVP candidates usually get doubled. Some here are convinced that the opposition never game plans for Melo. It was clear that Dallas' intentions were to take him out of the game with doubles....He did a good job of moving the ball early and had a number of hockey assists. Got a few non-calls aswell.

I don't think anyone said that. The opposition will always game plan for the player who touches the ball the most - whether it's Eddy Curry or Michael Jordan.

I think some people want to believe Melo is chucking with three defenders on him. Untrue... look at the *win* against the SAS. Two turnovers, nine points, on 12 attempts. but if you remember that game, the Spurs completely game planned against him, which allowed Raymond Felton to go off

I don't think anyone ever said that he is a high volume chucker in 100% of the games that he plays in.

It's hardly outrageous to call 3 for 12 inefficient!

There were more than several posts from a few posters who said as much.

Actually, now I remember what you're talking about.

Actually every since the other thread was started stating he was MVP after 4gms he's regressed in this area of MP candidacy. The 1 thing keeping him in the discussion and what will is our record if we keep winning.

There are a few more candidates creeping into the discussion

Melo was played straight up for the majority of the Dallas game by Marion/Crowder/Jones. He may have been met at the rim but he clearly wasn't constantly doubled yesterday.

Matter of fact the PNR with Felton proved to be more abusive on their defense yesterday hence Chandler finish several AND 1s because of trapping Felton early in it.

tkf @ 11/22/2012 1:43 PM
THERE are a few mvp candidates....we can list them all I ma sure, but honestly there are about 3 guys that have a legit chance of winning it..
Durant, lebron and chris paul...... durant is not only super efficient, but he may average a double double....

yea, marion single covered him, so did crowder....I think guys see the help defense come over when the player drives and think he is being doubled... I don't know bro... carmelo started off the game shooting bad... dallas didn't have to do much..... and again with the hockey assist.. LOL jeez, this is just going overboard...

I coach as well, so I pay very close attention to the details on the defensive end of the floor, looking for things to steal and use for my teams. Trust, Dallas was sending double teams his way, particularly in the first half of the game. No so much in the second half after Knicks were lighting them up from behind the arc in the 1st half. Basically, when Melo received the ball in his sweet spots, elbow and in, they would send another player at him. Again, this was mainly in the first half.

Hockey Assist? Yes, anything that gives Melo a little bit of credit is overboard in your eyes.

Its not like people are desperately scrambling to compliment Melo. Hes been bashed by a lot for not moving the ball and now hes doing that. It just doesnt show up in the assist numbers because the person he kicks it out to doesnt always take the shot.

dude, it seems like the main agenda of most of this board is to give melo credit, even where it is not due..... chandler had a very good game and kidd was very good, although I didn't like that all of his shots were three pointers....

carmelo forced the issue, wasn't any more of a factor than felton..... that is the truth...

I mean, the knicks win, and carmelo plays average ball and the knicks won because of the "carmelo effect"..

the knicks lose and carmelo plays bad, we lost not because he played bad, but because he is not getting star calls, but we must notice his hockey assist...

it doesn't have to be all about carmelo.... win or lose..
