Not to single you out Nalod (because there were lots of over the top and/or ridiculous knee jerk types of reactions during this thread); but you sure do have a bad habit of calling others out as being "homers". You've called me out as being a "homer" time and time again. You calling me out as being a homer on 11/23/2012 was only one example. Even during a time in which our Knicks were 8-3 overall, you were still throwing out the 'homer fable-ism' types of remarks and/or insults towards others (not just myself).
It's now 12/12/2012 and I've since seen you use that same remark of "homer fable-ism" time and time again. In all honesty, you shouldn't blame others as being homers Nalod, but instead blame yourself for being a negative nancy and/or the type of sports fan in which didn't (or doesn't) have the ability and/or overall knowledge of the game to basketball in order to see/envision something elite before it's "already happened". Because hindsight is always 20/20.
Have you ever thought that maybe, just maybe, fans such as myself (and lots of others around here) could (and can) see something special in the making and/or something very impressive when we seen it? Because I myself personally seen a New York machine during our offseason before we ever stepped foot on the basketball court. I've been a die hard basketball fan for well over 20 years but yet have never seen a Knicks team as deep as our current one. Ever.
Even went as far as creating a thread on another Knicks forum comparing this Knicks team of 2012-2013 to our old school Knicks team of 1993-1994. Also explained why as well. Come to find out, there were also fans (such as yourself) who couldn't envision the overall potential and/or ability that this current Knicks team truthfully possessed (during the offseason). Words such as "homer" and/or "homer fable-ism" were dropped left and right during a thread comparing this current Knicks team to our throwback Knicks team of 93-94. Come to find out? We're 16-5 for the first time since, well, you guessed it... 1993-1994. The same exact team in which I compared our current squad to during our offseason. Coincidence? I think not. It's called being able to use your overall basketball knowledge of well over 20 years while being able to envision something in which hasn't (already) happened yet. That's why being a sports fan is all about. The ability to think outside the box. Simple minded fans consider that as being "homer fable-ism".
I created this thread during a time in which we were on a two game losing streak (Dallas/Houston). Was excited for this team during the offseason. Was pumped after beating the likes of Miami, Philly (during a home/away series), Dallas, Orlando, San Antonio, Indiana and New Orleans along with being proud of our Knicks, even after dropping two consecutive ball games. Why be proud of a team after two loses? Because A.) I'm not a love you while you're up/kick you when you're down type of fan. B.) Understand that loses happen (even the Bulls of 1996 lost 10 games) and C.) Had enough knowledge to understand that this team wasn't only good enough to respond against the likes of the lowly Pistons... But also bounce back in full force moving forward. 8-2 since our two game losing streak doesn't lie either. Victories over the Pistons, Bucks, Wizards, Suns, Bobcats, Heat, Denver and Brooklyn. That's why I was proud of these guys.
In closing, this team is something very special in the making. The best has yet to come and we've yet to see our finished product (Shumpert, Stoudemire and Camby). Our franchise is currently featuring the type of team in which all die hard Knick fans should be proud of, confident in and/or excited for. There shouldn't be a single Knicks fan dropping the "Homer fable-ism" bombshell towards fellow posters (fans). Let's be honest here, we're 16-5 for the first time since the 1993-1994 season. 19 years to be exact. Something to be proud of (personally speaking). We're currently in first place of our Atlantic Division by 4 full games (haven't won the Atlantic since 1994). Last but most definitely not least; we're currently first place of the Eastern Conference (plus a tiebreaker over Miami) by one full game.
A very long winded post but the moral of this story wasn't to say I told you so and/or to tute my own horn Nalod but instead, for you to understand that you've been very nasty and/or disrespectful towards lots of very knowledgeable Knick fans around here. Your homer and/or homer fable-ism remarks/insults have been played out (old) since the moment this current Knicks team stepped foot on the court. Don't blame others all because you (yourself personally) lacked the overall insight, knowledge and/or envision to spot, notice and/or see something special in the making... Before it actually happened that is. Hindsight is always 20/20. Remeber that. It's the journey that matters most. Maybe you can soak all of this up, and actually think about it before accusing someone as being a "homer".
