When Melo was born, a star rose above Brooklyn.
Melo's 45pts had a deeper meaning then just beating the Nets. He actually stopped the world from ending on 12-12-12. His game was so great that the world ending is on hold in order to continue to watch him play basketball.

“Carmelo is starting to make that next step. The step is that he knows he can get it done when he needs to, and he trusts guys around him. Now, when he's double teamed, and it's not his [shot], he's got to get the ball to other people and trust that they make the play. That's a deadly combination.
That is also one giant step for man. One giant leap for mankind.”

“He’ll be back out here shortly. It shows what kind of team we have [winning without him]. We did it before when he went down, with the lacerated finger. It brings us together more to know somewhere in the back of our mind we can’t let him down and we can’t have a lot of people think we’re all Carmelo, all Carmelo."

His sweat appears in the periodic table of elements.
He graciously disappears in order to allow the saviour of the Taiwanese people to have the limelight in what was otherwise a hum drum season so far.
He manages to allow the teams somehow connected to him to remain at or even above .500 as a token of his magniminity.
