Knicks · Does Lakers lack of success so far put things into perspective. (page 1)

I mean Melo was blamed for everything last season and was downgraded as a player. Yet with Dwight Howard, Paul Gasol, Kobe Bryant (which is Melo, Amare and Chandler on steroids) the Lakers have been failing miserably. Meanwhile Carmelo seems to be thriving.
Bonn1997 @ 12/3/2012 9:37 AM
Why? They look better (or less bad) with MDA than with Mike Brown. Before MDA, it looked like this was a group of players whose time has passed.
knickscity @ 12/3/2012 9:43 AM
D'antoni shouldn't have to encourage these dudes to play defense.

There is two players on that team that has won DPOY, and another that is usually 1st or 2nd team.

No excuses for that mess out there.

They just lost to the Orlando Magic and have some bad losses to the Kings, Pacers, and now Orlando over the last 8 games.

NUPE @ 12/3/2012 9:57 AM
Mike Brown should have not been fired in the first place. The Laker's should improve but right now they are a total mess and Dantoni won't be stressing defense anytime soon.

I guess the Lakers didn't learn much from the Knicks.

That doesn't contradict anything I wrote

I will die laughing if Howard goes to the Atlanta Hawks this summer.

Lakers will so screwed. Oh man.

Sure it does.

You posted as if Mike D'antoni has righted the ship.

He's officially sunken it now.

Calling things "less bad" means the ship is righted?

Y is this acceptable to you. Shouldn't you be calling MDA Mr.500 right now? Then again I'm not even looking to blame MDA. We all know who he is and what his system is. if they moved around some pieces that fit his system then I have no doubt that he would be doing very wel right now though it would still be questionable if his system can win it all.

I am more talking about the players. It was argued that the players and the system didn't fit together with the Knicks. Yet many people didn't want to hear that and just wanted to blame one specific person. Yet players that are viewed as even better then Melo are in the same situation as him and are producing similar results while he is excelling when put in a position to succeed.

Silverfuel @ 12/3/2012 10:18 AM
I actually supported D'Antoni but what Woodson has done with this team minus Amare and Shump and what D'Antoni is doing in LA makes it very hard to make a case for him.

Did you miss what happened with Brown? This group seems to need a new coach every 5 games.

The following are 2 statements that I believe to be true:

1) You cannot judge D'Antoni on the Lakers until he has Nash back for a few weeks
2) D'Antoni has not had success in this league without Nash. Nash made him. It's not a coincidence that our record was so much better right after D'Antoni left. To not admit this is foolish.

yellowboy90 @ 12/3/2012 10:24 AM
They looked better with Bernie. All this means nothing. MDA hasn't been there that long wait until after the trading deadline to get a little clearer picture. Also, Woodson was around the Knicks players unlike MDA.
playa2 @ 12/3/2012 10:25 AM
I want to hear Nalod's perspective on this matter.
knicks1248 @ 12/3/2012 10:27 AM
Its the little things thats killing that team..howards FT's have been brutal..the other night he miss 12 last night 8..turnovers are also a problem..

With no real perimeter players other then kobe, forgetaboutit..

Brown has nothing to do with Lakers losing to the Pacers or Orlando in the last 2 of 3 games.

An alternative way of phrasing that is that he's always had success when he had a competent PG. Two sides to every coin
gunsnewing @ 12/3/2012 10:30 AM
Right. As much as I hate Dantoni's coaching philosophy I think you have to wait to see what the team looks like with Nash and once Pau is traded for complimentary pieces before callig this a failure what 5 games in? There is too much talent on the team not to figure it out themselves

"Just as bad" or "even worse" is probably more appropriate.
