Knicks · Are you a believer? (page 1)

People Ask Me All The Time, "What Does The Answer Man Believe?" Well, he believes...

- you play one game at a time. (13-4 looks mighty tasty)

- Mike Woodson knows that Red Holzman was correct. "On offense you do what you want... on defense you do what I want."

- if you take an open shot in rhythm, a pro is supposed to make that shot, even from outside the arc

- kvetching over speed bumps in a Game Thread, like its the end of the world, is for kids

- tomorrow is not guaranteed. Go hug your friends/ kids/ family today. Tell them you love them. TODAY. Not tomorrow.

- Chris Copeland is the badass who makes Amar'e think about extra rehab reps because minutes are not guaranteed.

- JKidd, Stevie Novak, Ray, Ronnie B, JR Smith, Pablo, Sheed and yes... even "The most interesting four in the world", all have license to take that open shot

- the goal on offense is 25 team assists and under ten turnovers

- You Suck. You Sit. (Our entire roster is poised to play in critical situations. Not many teams can say that.)

I'm a believer... those that actually posted here when the Knicks were bad know that I'm a harsh critic too. I don't see how any legitimate Knicks could be anything but pleased with the direction of the franchise and the franchise's future prospects
IronWillGiroud @ 12/4/2012 8:52 AM
I don't believe in jacking up treys like D'Antoni is still coaching. At the same time, I believe in Carmelo and his talents and the leadership he was born with.

It can go really good, or it can go nowhere at all, but I believe it will be more good than nowhere.

fishmike @ 12/4/2012 8:57 AM
im a believer. All of Dolan's minions on this board have opened my eyes to Melo's greatness. All hail king JAMES!
IronWillGiroud @ 12/4/2012 9:05 AM
Hahaha, yea, if the question is if I am a believer in Melo Anthony, then yea, you got me! I believe in the guy!

I think Melo himself put it best when he said,

"I'm a classical type of guy. Whatever's out at that point in time, I like it. I just put my own twist on it, and we go from there."

By golly, I think Melo likes what's out at this time, the way this team is coming together and meshing.

Realize you are being sarcastic. However the tiring and common misconception on this board is that if you are optimistic about the Knicks and Melo, you are somehow aligned with Dolan or think he has done a good to great job. He mostly has not. But perhaps Dolan is finally learning to stay out of the way with a good GM/coach combo.

I'm a believer since the beginning of this year as Woodson stresses D.......and good D keeps you in games even if your O is not running smoothly. Did not think the record would be this good at this point however.

I totally didn't read that as sarcasm, maybe you understand some history here that I don't.

At the end of the day, 12-4 is a fine result and it's a results-driven business. Now, 72-10 don't mean a thing without the ring, but I can't fast-forward to the future, we have to play the season first and then we'll hope for the best when the time comes.

jacking up three's means shooting them with the defense all over you, taking wide open 3's means the ball is finding the open man..which good ball movement and penetration will do every time

Yea they're hitting at 42% and shooting 28 a game. Hey, if they can keep that up, that's great. It's still a lot of threes and I wonder if they can keep it up as the season goes on, as the legs start to wear and the gunners are not as fresh and springy as in the start of the season. Our depth should help stave off fatigue-induced ill-effects on shooting %, but I wonder when that one game will be when we go 1 for 30. I just hope that 1-30 game is not very important or critical, and you know how in the playoffs it's a different game, teams clamp down on those open shots, especially the good teams.

+1
martin, I would ask that this please be stickied at the top of the home page until further notice.

- Shump is coming. And man, he's gonna have his full-on, Spree pissed mode on. Woody, channeling Phil: let the doberman loose.

misterearl @ 12/4/2012 10:31 AM
Let's This Party Started

“I’m just proud of our team,” Woodson said. “We’re giving our fans something to root for. When we step on our floor our fans expect us to win. That’s where you want to be when you talk about building a team. It’s been a good run, but we’ve got a long way to go.” - Mike Woodson

Mike Woodson has done the unexpected. He has cultivated and motivated:

- his detached enigmatic star, apparently coasting and boasting, to play on both ends with passion

- a tempermental and talented prodigal son to finally take responsibility, everywhere he goes.

- a 40 year old with impaired judgement, a DUI, to show for the week he signs. Who does that?

- a Chicago castaway, with a deformed forearm, to take the shot... and make the shot.

- a rusty, retired and crazy forward who many people doubted would even make the roster.

- a 35 year old rookie with no streetball/ summer league/ college or NBA exposure whatsoever

- a promising yoot, also in rehab, through visits to the barber for touchups

- his number one three point artist to diversify his game, and embrace his skill set.

- a 28 year old migrant worker, fresh from the Belgian League

- his starting four, in rehab, through another unguaranteed comeback

- his captain to do the thankless dirty work reserved for Charles Oakley

- his third string center to be ready for the playoffs, when he will be needed most. "'Sup Hartford?"

- a new culture of great expectations, grounded in traditional ("DEE-FENSE") Knicks values.

Unsure. Just waiting for a season ending injury to derail everything #past12years
3G4G @ 12/4/2012 10:42 AM
Everything will balance itself out in about another month across the league. I think there's even more parity regular season wise than thought of in yrs past.

The hatred of Melo and what he represents (or doesn't represent) runs deep for some on thses boards. I suspect that even a championship would not diminish the hatred...as there might still be a sour taste and lament that the large quantity of homegrown middling talent that was given up in the Melo deal was not on hand.

WTF is Lebron got to do with this thread?

Seriously, if I'm a Dolan minion, where the heck is my check? Don't we all get checks?

Note: Melo = player of the week.

Melo = glad we're playing as a team!

Melo = 12-4. If you think otherwise, you are JKidding yourself.

Nalod @ 12/4/2012 11:38 AM

Im unsure.

Why?

This is not some sort of "faith" statement or religion. Im watching games, the record is nice. Long way to go.

If we continue we get as a reward a nice seeding. Maybe we have a nice run., maybe we fall back.

I do believe I am enjoying the season. The weekly or monthly rewards don't mean anyting going forward. Its just a confirmaiton of past.

Im happy they winning games and awards.

Progress is great!

"believe"? Its not that I don't, its just not tangable for me to measure.

I do believe I am enjoying the games! Thats enough.

Or maybe he's finally just gotten lucky, and rolling with it. Fine with me, as long as he stays out of the way except when its time to write checks.
