Knicks · What is it about the Rockets and Bulls that are such a problem for the Knicks? (page 1)

grillco @ 12/21/2012 9:31 PM
Is it just dumb luck and timing (being "due" for a loss or a two). Is it just the match ups?

I could see them getting overly worked up when playing against Lin and it's not like the Bulls are a bad team. You'd just expect the Knicks to at the least be massively more competitive against these teams that so far aren't on their level.

MSG3 @ 12/21/2012 9:41 PM
2 different sets of problems. Houston has quick backcourt players. That causes problems for us.

Chicagos D is just exceptional and they play crazy physical. Doesn't help that the refs tonight are horrible.

gunsnewing @ 12/21/2012 9:41 PM
Bulls play great defense and we play right into their hands with iso-ball and chucking 3's

Bulls best at defending 3

As for the Rockets they have Lin we have Felton

CrushAlot @ 12/21/2012 9:59 PM
Bulls are so well coached, play great d and don't let the Knicks do what they are good at on offense. Rockets controled the tempo. Knicks also played like ish both games against the rockets.
IrishKnickFan @ 12/21/2012 10:17 PM
the rockets just run our asses into the ground they're so young and fast. also they can rebound and hit three's. the bulls are just too tough defensively for us and they outrebound us by a lot. The Knicks better get better at rebounding otherwise that will kill us in may. i do not want to face the bulls in the playoffs
playa2 @ 12/21/2012 10:28 PM

This is the difference

yellowboy90 @ 12/21/2012 10:37 PM
There big man can take away the lob.
VCoug @ 12/21/2012 10:57 PM
Chicago and Memphis are good defensive teams that have a lot size. Teams like that are probably going to give us problems all season and I'm curious what happens when we play OKC and Boston later this season. Houston is a little different. They have good size but their not very good defensively. I think our problem with Houston is a combination of their size up front, especially Asik, and certain players on our team pressing really hard because of Lin.
3G4G @ 12/21/2012 11:06 PM
DAT 3-BALL ISH AIN'T GONNA CUT IT...

Not against speed teams and teams committed to playing D for 4qrts chasing us off the line. Just think what would happen in a playoff series when a team has a game plan in affect and you have to play them every other night.

We get rattled very easily too when teams get physical

we got run against these teams and woodson has to put in the correct players once you routine starts getting expose..Pnr shuts down, and the 3 ball ain't falling..We have to be able have a fast unit to to counter..we resort to half court Jr and Melo iso's..Novak was 0 for 3 in 31 minutes..wtf

Knicks have great size if Sheed, camby and amare are healthy.

markvmc @ 12/21/2012 11:25 PM
Yeah, if all of our gimpy old guys avoid injury...

That's why you don't sign and/or sign and trade for a bunch of old dudes. We knew this prior to acquiring them.

I would never debate about the amare signing. I don't know how anyone can complain about signing Sheed. The camby contract bothers me now that he isn't playing. I don't have an issue with sny of the guys that got traded being moved and I do t sweat the second round pick.

What we really need is for them to be reasonably healthy for the playoffs. In Anji's thread I wrote that once we're healthy Camby and Sheed should be getting everty 3rd or 4th game off and Amare and probably Tyson should be getting games off on a semi-regular basis. If we do that I believe we can grab a top-2 seed while also being rested in healthy for a hopefully long playoff run

they are a terrific defending team.

felton is just incapable of orchestrating. at least lin has the potential to become an orchestrator.

39 yr old kidd is always looking to run, melo always trails him for the 3ball, it's a old MDA play, you'll always get melo at either elbow of the 3. but when a team like the bulls press, and the pnr ain't there we get melo on the block going one on one.

we do move the ball well most nights, but there's just not enough cutting and slashing (paging wilson chandler), which is key against big teams, and good defensive teams..Woodson has to recognize that..You don't have to make it a track meet, you just got run when you can..were the slowest team in the league and we don't turn the ball over as a result. but you play right in to the bulls hand with that half court sht...especially if were not knocking down with 3's at a high rate.
