JR should start over Brewer until Shump is ready to start Brewer is giving the Knicks absolutely nothing , Knicks are playing 4 against 5 on offense at the start of the 1st quarter and 3rd quarter when he starts and his defense has not been good either.

Kidd and Shump is a great backcourt off bench..talk about defense.

I'm with you , JR is too good all around , even when he's off he still rebounds , defends , passes and plays with energy , it doesn't make sense anymore that he should have to wait 4 minutes to come into the game .

Yes but whats the big difference you ask? Well I will tell you:

Kidd took 3 shots

Felton TOOK 15!

How do the Knicks win games without scoring, you guys kill me. 0 points is 0 points no matter how effient (lol), kidd isn't a scorer and he can't run the offense.

Felton needs to shoot less, but knicks need his points, specially we guys are putting up donuts or 4 points or less.

How are you going to watch this stinker and still be crying about Felton????

and have brewer come off the bench to do what? brick shots and play suspect defense... I thought the idea of a 6th man was to bring energy and scoring..Leave JR righ where he's @

Sometimes 3..lol.it's getting to the point where the teams seems to wait til Brewer gets off the court to start playing. You can almost feel a relief in MSG once JR replaces Brew.

How is that any different than what he is doing now? the team is falling behind now when Brewer starts why have to play catch up , Knicks just have to make sure either Melo or JR is on the court most of the time they don't always have to play together but they should at least start together it's all about managing mintues and lineups

JR to me seems to be the teams third best rebounder(we need rebounding help), when know he is the second best Iso guy, he runs the pick and roll great and can hit open shots. Looks like he had another game saving block too in crunch time (I don't know if he got credit). Might be the best perimeter defender when he is focused.

Gotta start this guy to help Melo, second best all around player on the knicks IMO.

Kidd and Shump is a great backcourt off bench..talk about defense.

Maybe not at the beginning when he comes back, but when he's good to go Shump should start.

I'd like to see:

C - Chandler
PF - Melo
SF - Shumpert
SG - Kidd
PG - Felton

Bench: Wallace, Camby, Thomas (atleast 1 of them presumably out), Amare, Copeland, Novak, Brewer, Smith, White, Prigioni.

or:

C - Chandler
PF - Wallace
SF - Melo
SG - Shumpert
PG - Felton

Bench: Camby, Thomas, Amare, Copeland, Novak, Brewer, Smith, White, Kidd, Prigioni.

until Amare eventualy is healthy enough to really get going and hit his stride and start games at the PF position again (presumably under Woodson they could make it work).

On a sidenote: I'd love it if JR got to start, and he deserves to, but the main and only reason he's not is because a team needs a solid scorer off the bench, especially with Amare with still out I don't see it happening, even though Brewer doesn't deserve to start based on his last couple of performances.

The only way I could see that working is if you switched Copeland's minutes with Brewer's and made him (Copeland) the designated scorer off the bench, for some reason though Woodson seems reluctant to rely on Copeland much, even though he's playing well.

So Shump starts when he gets back right away?? There is no point in that logic if we are bringing in Jr 3/4 minutes into game

I saw the end of the first half and was out with family. I was sure this was a loss. Awesome that they pulled off another win.

Brewer will do better with a unit who passes the ball until someone is open or who looks for guys cutting to the basket. He doesn't bode well with guys who hold the ball, remember he excelled in Utah with the ball movement not iso ball.

Melo: Sub par game, but 19 points in the fourth??? That's the difference between big boy pants and DaniloTrainer pants.

TC: Big 16 points, but the DPOY can't be getting destroyed by Nikola Pekovic. He had no help either with Love out, though TC came up big when it counted so you can't hate at all.

Felton: Big 15 points, shoots 2-3 too many shots a game but we needed every point from him. Picked up the pick and roll D late, but better late than never.

JR Smith: Best player behind Melo, third best Rebounder, second best playmaker, could be the best all around player we have maybe second next to Melo. How does this guy not start when Amare get's back?

Novack: I don't see the point of him playing, getting destroyed by Cunningham on the boards or killing our rotations for 4 pts doesn't seem like a fair trade off. Come on Woodson, we got a better all around Novack on the bench name Copeland. 20 wasted minutes IMO.

Kidd: 0 points and 0 assists. I don't think he should start, even though he is a great leader, he can't penetrate or get his own shot and his defense has been looking slow of late. There's a reason why Felton has the ball 90 percent of the game, if the D isn't off balance from Felton/JR/Melo/loose balls Kidd can't get those assists. (MVP my ass)

Brewer: 0 points and 0 shots: Just bad, can't cover for a guy like this unless he is grabbing Rodman like rebounds. He's defense is sub par and finishing around the rim is Felton like right now. Might as well sit him down and let him recover, he is way better than this. Could start Copeland or White to help space the floor for the paltry 15 minutes or so Brewer is playing.

Knicks are short bodies, Camby and Amare are coming back, hopefully we go into the New Year with a win streak after stealing this game.
