JR is ridiculously good, even when he is bad.
21-8 is kinda great
JR so bad that he's good!
You expect his bad shots to go in now.

I'm a lot more confident in his bad shots going in than Brewer wide open def!

One of the few poor set plays out of timeouts for Woody.
That is my question --- Woody is a master out of timeouts --- there is no way that was the play drawn up.....could it ?? Did a reporter ask him after the game.
For the crazy people saying I an not a big Knicks fan or maybe confused--- LOL -- I watch every game on the NBA League pass and coached womens college basketball for 9 years.
At that stage of the game--we don't even need a 3 --- we could/should attack the rim ,if something isn't there ---then kick it out for an OPEN look--- not a back to the basket spinning turning 35 foot 3 . I love JR and he played a hell of a game but I just someone could answer the question... WHY ? Was it the play Woody caled?
Pretty sure it was a misdirection play for JR. Don't know why we needed a 3 with (40 seconds?) so much time left though.
It was not just this play call.
How about the end of the half with JR. Awful! Why all this one on one stuff and the end of halfs and quarters? Why can't we actually run a real play?
I agree. Woody's great with in game set plays out of timeouts, but during crucial stretches or near end of quarter or halves, there's some questionable play calling.
And worse case, how does Melo not touch the ball the last couple of minutes of the game? I don't know the exact time, but it seemed like forever Melo didn't seem involved, besides the questionable lob passes by Marcus(Why is a center playing point guard?)
I'm overall pleased with Woody, just miffed a little with questionable play calls, his inability to free up Novak, maybe try switching White for Brewer to allow Brewer to reset, and his opposition to sitting Felton for Prigioni to allow him to heal his hands and/or brain.
Otherwise I'm peachy at 20-8.
For some reason Melo only took 3 shots in the 4th quarter compared to 6 for JR and 4 for Felton. And this is after he was completely on fire in the 3rd quarter.
This. Melo needs to initiate our ball movement more. But we could use more "called" plays down the strech, with Melo being involved.

Something I've noticed a couple of times now, just recently again, but probably most notably against the Nets (the loss). We couldn't get a shot in edgewise at a point in OT, yet instead of trying to get the ball over to Melo, Felton just decided to shoot or drive for a bad shot like 4 out of 5 times. Therefore we lost, Melo never really had a chance to try and get us back in the game due to Felton "taking over".

I can discuss that Jr.shouldnt have even been in the game after that undercut on the layup. What a joke this game was, joke officiating.
Undercut when guy is in the air.is ridiculous and should be immediate ejection. Knicks bailed out by officials from god
misterearl@ 12/27/2012 7:57 AM
“It was premeditated. When I was walking on the court, I was like, ‘you’re going to make it, you’re going to make it.’ I was trying to get my form ready and go through my mechanics in my head and let it fly.’’
“I didn’t see anyone panicking. That’s the beauty of this team. Guys accept the challenge. He was up for it tonight. He’s been up for it all season.’’
-Jason Kidd

Charlie Hustle
Smith was hustling all over the place. He stole a pass and drove ahead of the field for a breakaway, two-handed stuff to tie the score at 90 with 4:30 left. Smith again knocked away an entry pass as the Knicks took control. After Smith missed a jumper Chandler saved the possession, knocking it back out. Smith fed Kidd, who nailed a 3-pointer for a 93-90 lead with 4:09 left.

Dragic was not undercut. There was contact but as the Phoenix announcers related accurately, "only JR Smith knows what his intent was." There was minimal contact and Dragic landed off balance. That play happens all the time. JR was slowing down within range. He did not contest the shot.
IronWill - losing your mind as if JR had evil intent only speaks to your perception of things. The commissioner will review the tape and decide. If needed, he will interview the player.
JR ran back on defense. If he does not, he is lazy.

You say.tomato I say turnips,
As an adult league basketball player, I say.that the layup undercut is the most dangerous play in basketball. It's the type of play that ends seasons and, at worst, careers.
It has been a great season so far but that play makes knicks look ugly.
Sad day for hoops.
IronWillGiroud@ 12/27/2012 8:14 AM
Let's talk about your perception of things earl,
A flagrant foul is one with "violent or excessive contact" which can injure a player and you are playing it down as minimal contact. Obviously the officials saw it differently
misterearl@ 12/27/2012 8:21 AM
IronW - The contact was absolutely NOT violent. The excessive part can be debated.
The rule book reference is cute. Was Carmelo's technical foul rescinded? Absolutely.
Refs can make mistakes too.
David Stern is on the clock.
misterearl@ 12/27/2012 8:40 AM
One more thing Iron
For some perspective on hard fouls, take a look at Dwight Howard last night.
JR walked over to Dragic, expressed concern and displayed remorse. His expression appeared more puzzled than aggressive. Those acts, in the flow of the action, hint that the contact was not malicious.
But that's just me looking at the video details, attempting to piece together the evidence.
What evidence do you have from the video that supports a suspension?
misterearl@ 12/27/2012 8:49 AM
Meanwhile, back in the states...
First, let us applaud Kidd for serving Smith with a perfectly placed pass that-- even after Smith slipped momentarily while cutting-- arrived right on time and past J.R. in such a way that he had few degrees left to turn.
Smith caught the ball facing the sideline, propelled himself upward, outward, backward, and clockwise, then hung in mid-air just long enough to calibrate a clean look at the rim. Tucker may have even touched Smith's elbow, just to add another layer of difficulty. From pass to splash, that's about as much remarkable athleticism as you can pack into a split second

Take that Kobe.

Yea that howard foul was something else,
whenever I see a foul like that I get the butterflies flying around my stomach because I broke my wrist once on a similar play, when I was a teenager.
I am of opinion that all flagrant fouls should be automatic 6 game suspension
IronWillGiroud@ 12/27/2012 9:27 AM
Sick shot, I like what Swagballs said,
Something like,
"I was visualizing it, telling myself it will go in and I will make it"
And that's the type of mental attitude that anyone can appreciate, just as important in basketball as it is when you are going for a new PR on the back squat
babyKnicks@ 12/27/2012 9:34 AM
Iron. Go root for another team. We love jr!!!!!

What (violent or otherwise) evidence do you have from the video that supports a suspension for JR Smith?

Iron is still pissed at jr for kissing that big booty chick and fighting the Knicks that time him and melo got into with us.
The fact iron is still piecing together evidence that a dirty play occurred in a game JR clearly won for us is crazy non knick fan talk.
Earl, add him to your ignore lost and celebrate an awesome finish to a great all around game missing our top 2 scorers and starting point guard!
This is a magical year.
Get on board haters. :-)
IronWillGiroud@ 12/27/2012 10:04 AM
Hahahhahaa, if you think that JR Smith wasn't all intentional bump then maybe you do not feel well today, it was vicious and malicious
He sticks his chest out to undercut him,
It was slick, I'll give you that, but if you think that was accidental contact, you're smoking the best marijuana the world will offer you
IronWillGiroud@ 12/27/2012 10:08 AM
You're trying to tell me a pro athlete, in the NBA for more than half a decade, you're telling me he did not have control of his body when he put his hands at his sides and drove his chest into the flying Dragic?
Please, PUH-LEAZE,
PASS THE J PLEASE, i want some tokey tokey smokey smokey today too
misterearl@ 12/27/2012 10:12 AM

IronWill - me thinketh thou protest too much
Vicious an malicious?
JR did not "drive his chest" into the frail and innocent Dragic. The video evidence does not support your ranting.
Is there anyone else crying about this?

My ranting? I was on to the next thang, I was talking about Swagnuts's positive mental attitude and then you had to suck me back in,
Here is the video, if you don't see JR driving his chest into the INDEED INNOCENT AND FRAIL DRAGIC (BECAUSE HE WAS IN THE AIR AND DEFENSELESS), then I have to commend you on this very impressive feat of doublethink,
Anyway, hell of a shot and we can all appreciate the clutch bucket dropping,
Look, I understand things happen in the the heat of the action, but to say that, in that moment, JR did not intend to undercut him, I think you're not being fair to me and to the people of this great nation, and this great planet
