most loathed? so much for the holiday spirit...
gunsnewing @ 12/26/2012 5:50 PM
ESPN is smug.

Stephen A. Smith works for ESPN

loweyecue @ 12/26/2012 5:50 PM
Apparently it's not OK to have Lin threads because he is not a Knick and nobody cares, but ......
CrushAlot @ 12/26/2012 6:13 PM
D'Antoni is on the list because of his Knick tenure. It is a New York list. If it was a vote for top 10 ny plays of 2012 and Lin had a play on it as a Knick I would expect it to be posted here.

And for some reason, MDA gets pass for saying he should have never taken this job in the first place. Not to mention, he did quit the team...

Solace @ 12/26/2012 7:04 PM
I voted him #10 most loathed. Sanchez has to be #1.
nixluva @ 12/26/2012 7:15 PM
In terms of people NY fans should Loathe, MDA should be WAY down the list. He wasn't the reason the team lost in his 1st two years. That was a plan for the team to clean house for a run at Lebron. Only idiots would not acknowledge he unprecedented amount of roster turnover the Knicks had during MDA's tenure. NO ONE has ever had to coach under those conditions. EVER!!!

The idea of hiring MDA has to be that you know what he excels at and you want your team to play that way. You don't hire him and then force him to try and coach a different way. There are better coaches for that kind of thing. It's hard to build real chemistry and consistency with constant change and low quality talent. In the end tho just too many players in a short span of time:

Nix no matter how much you try and explain to ppl the difficult task MDA had to deal with, ppl will always fall back on his record and the teams lack of defense..I get tired of defended him, MDA had a reason for his record, not an excuse.

as far as that list..Mark Sanchez takes the first 5 slots, I dislike that guy from DAY 1 and all though I'm a Die Hard Packers fan since 1990, i always rooted for the jets(being from NY) until the day sanchez put on a jet uni..He's never ever been a focus player.. He's like a good looking car the drives terrible

The list is a 2012 list but I agree the cummulative damage probably figures into his being in the top 10 as much as 18-24 and last years drama.

ramtour420 @ 12/26/2012 8:20 PM
I don't loathe him. His coaching is turrible tho. I like him as a person- very polite, always says the right thing. Bad coach, sure. Not enough to deserve any kind of loathing.

1.The Wilpons

2.Mark Sanchez

3.MIke D'Antoni

4.Mike Tannenbaum

Oh, come on. That just isn't fair. Certainly a QB who gets sacked by his own lineman's ass wouldn't be the top of such a list.

Nalod @ 12/26/2012 8:50 PM
Blame, its what fans have to do.

MDA quite he gets loathed. If he did not, he gets loathed.

I think he should be commended for leaving. sometimes its better to just move on.

18-6 means he did the right thing for the franchise regardless.

That play. Sanchez just saw, "DAT ASS" and that was it... LMAO!

Rather than just being so negative about MDA, I think what Nalod is saying is that MDA could see he was not going to help the team to reach it's goals. So he stepped aside. Which we see was the right thing to do. It almost doesn't matter why he did it. He saw he wasn't helping and if he felt that he was not going to be able to get the job done, why should he stay and take the team down? If he stayed and the team continued to lose then he'd be blamed anyway. He knew the team had talent and he'd seen the team win under him so it's not like he didn't know they could play. For whatever reason Melo didn't want MDA as coach. He wanted Woody. Everyone knew that's why Woody was brought in and if MDA left or got fired it would be Woody who took over. All's well that ends well.

Gotta admire the man at least for staying true. Maybe he could have coached enough to save his job and get extended but why coach just to do that? He stuck to his methoed instead of adapting to a philosophy that "was not him".

He obviously knew he'd be in demand and his integrity was kept intact.

Its called a Win-Win. Even when its "addition by subraction"!

Im not saying he was a martyr by any means, just a good coach that knows he is in a situation he can't win or provide value.

A secure man knows when he is done and time to move on.

If you reread his quote about "coming to NY was a mistake", he meant that he regretted not fighting harder to get along with Sarver in PHX and continue to coach Nash. He was complimenting Steve Nash and what a unique talent he was/is.

MDA's record speaks for itself and we have all been over the circumstance numerous times.

It was refreshing departure compared to the clumsy ones under Isiah, including himself as well.

Coach left, team bought in to what it needed to do and gained its self esteem.

Kudo's to woodson for a fine job done. MDA gets credit for a graceful exit.

Keep loving him guys. No skin of my back. Woodson is waaaaay better and was 18-6 with the same roster last ear and didn't benefit from a crazy linsanity run.

Same roster. Waaaay better.

Proof is in the pudding.

Like how Denver trounced the lakers?

No d in dantoni.

Defense wins championships. Defense is the New York way!

I bet its because we didn't have Steve Nash to make MDA a good coach for us. Without Nash he us not even average. Not knowing how to win games with D was the other thing that did MDA in.
