Well in this situation, theres no need to answer his question

This thread is silly. The team has been struggling but every team has its rough stretches. I believe the Knicks are second in the East at this juncture. All things considered, the team has been more than fine.

Hehe, yeah. The trade coming back to bite us all the way into 2nd place in the Eastern standings. Umm, thank you sir, may I please have another.

“I don’t think this is a good draft,” said one scout. “This is the year you should consider trading your draft pick – no matter where it is.”

So much for those draft picks we gave up.

Now it's about who's a real fan and who's not. Who's a melo hater and who's a homer.

I think those who agree with the trade just want to know ...

1. What assets did we lose?

2. Why keep saying Melo was being greedy, when all it takes is a simple google search that return plenty of articles that explain he made a great financial decision and was vindicated by the lock out.

3. Why is it ignored that without the trade we wouldn't have JR or Tyson (both had offers from other teams)

4. Tired of hearing about draft picks. How many do you watch college basketball, because the upcoming drafts are weak!

5. If not Melo then who else do you sign? I remember some posters wanted Deron Williams ... lmao

6. Why keep saying we're going nowhere in the damn future when our starting line up (felton, Shump, Melo, Tyson) minus 1 spot is set for the next 3-4 years. That's something to build on.

7. How do you ignore the main reason for JR signing the contract he did this year was so we can sign him next season with his rights?

8. So we have our draft pick and MLE with 4/5 starting spots locked and a good 6th man and it's all doom and gloom ... lol

9. How can you ignore that Miami is 23-11 with a healthy roster and we're 23-12 with a load of injures.

10. Felton and Shump won't make that big of a difference??? Just ask Boston how Bradley is turning their season around. When you replace Kidd and Brewer with Felton and Shump, you add 2 penetrating guards that can guard the quicker opposing guards and hit a open jump shot which will minimize some of the double/triple teams on melo.

11. Lastly, another thing that get's on my nerve is how some posters want to talk about the Strength of the schedule but when Melo was in Denver and those who favor him was making this argument is was irrelevant . Go figure.

#1 - 11 can be answered simply: generic hate. The Somberites on here don't like Melo. Or they love Brooklyn. Or they haven't gotten over Gallo Love. Or Lin Love. Or Lee love. Or [for the love of warm feces] Crawfish or Zbo love. Give it time, you'll be reading threads about how Melo drove that HOF'er Landry Fields out of town. And how TD was supposed to have been our PG of the future. Anthony Randolph [starts to tear up]...all that potential...could've built the team the RIGHT way... sniffle sniffle...cap space...my god, where's my cap space?

We are #2 in the effing conference, and we've beaten the Hate and the Spurs twice each. And with injuries galore. But what do we hear: it don't mean a thing because Danny Granger and Derrick perennially injured Rose are coming to set the world back on it's foundations.

They'd take Deron over Melo [this month, at least]. They'd take IT over Melo. They'd take Darko over Melo. They will explain the upside of being a Nuggets or Rockets fan to you. Or when all that fails, they lean on the "our owner and FO are pukepiles" expositories. They will point to 40 years of chip constipation.

Personally, I can't wait for the resurrection of ECurry and the Melo effect on that fiasco.

It's really just a worldview thing. Facts don't really need to enter the picture, and threads like this will whither away and die as soon as we're on another 4 to 7 game win streak and blow the doors off another top tier team...again.

They will abandon the game threads again, and go back to the NBA and Other topics forums and the "other games to talk about that's not the Knicks game" thread.

It's okay. Tiring and repetitive, but it's okay. The Somberites provide a valuable service to those of us who actually enjoy being Knicks fans. They provide the service of just being them.

And for that, you've got to thank them.

I'm also curious about the answer to the question about someone getting into Melo's head in the playoffs. Granted, he may not react to someone saying something about Cheerios, but if I were an opposing player, I would know that the potential is there to get him to react to talking about his mom, or his son, or making fun of Puerto Rico, or any such thing.

It seems naive for some on this board to dismiss this possibility -- has Melo become some sort of Zen master in the last couple weeks and this is now a non-issue?

that's exactly what we meant when i asked what you think will happen if someone says something about lala in the finals

but guys wanna tell me that he has to defend his woman,

that's not the point, point is that he reacted to provocation and he forgot about playing the game,

Athletes fight all the time in sports. Why are you singling melo out as someone who is now habitually susceptible to having his head played with, because of one incident? He is a human being, not a pre-programmed robot who is incapable of having a bad day. Jeez.

yes... well, with Gallo leading the Nuggets up the standings folks can no longer laugh about the garbage role players we gave up. So now lets focus on draft picks which will surely yield nothing.

This might be the worst thread creation to an overreaction of a 3 game losing streak in a winning season.

Can we wait for the inevitable first round sweep before we crucify the players, management, coaching, and Dolan for our forgone conclusion failure of a season?

Here's the more smack you in the da face comeback....

All this means the 2013 pick we own if it is to be a weak draft does nothing for us. Now let's say most of the 2013 talent stays another year to tighten up their game, or whoever declares proves to be more marginal, or the age restriction on proven talent is in effect..... well this means the 2014 stands to be a stronger draft and that's the year Denver owns our pick.. a team on the come up. Denver stay winnin the way I see it.

So the "everyone does it" defense. Except that not everyone does it. Not even close.

There are certain players we know can be provoked. Artest for one. Danny Ainge when he was playing. So not everyone is the same. And one thinks that it can be controlled if it is an important game? Reality shows it's not the case. Remember Zinedine Zidane in the World Cup Final headbutting the Italian defender Marco Matterazzi? Materaazzi had said something about his mom and sister. Well Zidane got ejected from the game and France lost. The World Cup Final is only every four years, and has a much bigger worldwide audience than the Super Bowl. People are assasinated at times in their own country for making mistakes (Colombia). So yeah, certain players can be provoked much easier than others, and it can be done at crucial times to the detriment of their team.

And many max contract guys we should have been targeting either in free agency or trades are doing very well (CP3, Harden, etc.)

Gallo been sucking most of the current season and a large part of last year. I am glad Gallo decided to show up in Jan. 2013 though. LoL!

and I hope its me... I honestly do. If Melo leads the Knicks to the finals, or hell, even to a game 6 or 7 in the conference finals I will most happily buy two rounds at Stout (33rd) for the most die hard Melo minions. Because thats a tiny price to pay for a lot of good playoff basketball to get to that point. Book it dude...

Sadly, and speaking of ebs and flows things are returning back to normal arent they? Melo hasnt played defense in a month, and Melo's great games are followed by those 8-25 shooting nights where he still manages 20ish points to keep up that precious scoring average his minions and MVP touters will cling to.

People here really think I hate the guy, I dont and never have. I just dont think he's the caliber of player you can build a team around. Ive never seen it. Impossible to win in the playoffs when the player you so heavily rely on is totally inconsistent.

Like I said... hope Im wrong. Cheers to the first 5 minions if Im wrong.
