Thank God we need shump. Just be careful with him.
Yeah, with shump and felton together, I'm hopeful the backcourt defense improves. Avery Bradley and Leandro Barabos are alright players, but they shouldn't be carving us up like swiss cheese.
Shump back for London? STAT's minutes to increase? Sheed potentially returning this week? The cavalry is arriving.
YES!!!!! I'm pumped to see Shump back in action. He said the injury was the best thing to happen to him and he's been working his arse off on set jumpers from the corner. This kid is going to be a big piece to this team.

I wasn't kidding when I called him Jordan Lite,
he can drop buckets, he'll lock you down, and he has the drive to be a big time player in the L

Let's not go crazy. Iman has potential but he averaged 9 points on 9 shots per game.

as a an injured rookie. It's not like he averaged 15pts on 16 shots
Whats the ideal starting line-up once Shump is back in game shape? I think its safe to assume that he'll end up starting so does that mean we take Kidd out? Or do we forget about Amare ever starting and just have Shump take Brewer's spot with Anthony staying at the 4?
Tyson
Amare
Melo
Shump
Felton

I don't think they are- wasn't his initial time scale 6 to 8 months, and we're onto the 9th month. From a health point I don't see what difference it makes whether he plays in the D League or practice or actual nba games- it's the same risk. The thing is he doesn't get time to work on his timing and get some confidence, so he's going to have to find it on the fly. As you can see with Amar'e, that takes a while. I'd say at least a month. With Shump it's going to take longer as he has to get used to his new ACL. Hopefully he's looking pretty good by the playoffs.
i tore my ACL around the same time Shumpert did. I can tell you that the time scale is more like 12 months on average. considering the superior medical help he is receiving compared to him, i still feel he'll be back to his normal self only by the time playoffs are here.
So glad to have Shumpert back; he's my favorite player and watching the Knicks hasn't been the same without him. But I hope people temper their expectations of him a tad. He won't be slamming down athletic dunks for a long, long time, nor will he be the same on D. I think some are expecting Tony Allen D with the athleticism he had as a rookie, and that is not what we're going to get for a long time, if ever.
I hope folks understand the severe nature of his injuries (ACL AND MCL tears) and apply patience to this situation. Expecting anything remotely approaching Jordan (lite or otherwise) type of play from Shump is highly unrealistic.

rose had his surgery two weeks late than shump.
Wasn't it the next day?
thats what i thought...like the first round for both, and I thought both tore their acl
what are you guys asking about. they both got injured the same day, and rose had his surgery two weeks later due to swelling and strengthening.
when did shump have his surgery?
May 2nd. Rose had his May 12th. I remember reading that Rose's ACL tear was more severe also, but I couldn't site the source.

I love when MeloHate drives someone to OtherKnickLove.
It's so....beautiful.
If he's cleared by the doctor's, we need him on the floor simple as that.
He'll be rusty, but we need to get him acclimated sooner than later and we need bodies period.
Shump said in an interview recently that he didn't want to come back until he knew that he could have an impact from the get go. Said that he didn't want to come back until he was fully recovered, so if they say Shump is ready to play that's a great sign.

Ouch- is it as painful as it looks? Hope your recovery is going okay- seems like there's a lot of rehabbing involved, must be tough.

It is quite painful. lol they tell me i wouldn't pass out so they had to double up on my anesthesia. a week or two depending on your physical state of staying in bed except for restroom. u have to have someone change icepacks every 2 hours on the first 3 days to prevent clotting and a cast to prevent any leg bending during that period.
been through the whole crutches phase and all of that physiotherapy and just now starting to get back into the swing of things at the gym. the key to this type of recovery is patience. and i really hope shumpert understands that. as the owner of the body, only he can understand what his body can take at this point. and even then he must err on the side of caution because it really is a fragile ligament. thankfully today they use these composite screws to attach the ligament to the knee that over time fuses with the bone (no metallic parts).
However, if I was in his shoes, i would play it like this beginning London
game 1 - play
game 2 - dont play
game 3 - dont play
game 4 - play
game 5 - dont play
game 6 - dont play
game 7 - play
game 8 - play
game 9 - dont play
game 10 - play
game 11 - play
game 12 - dont play
game 13 - play
game 14 - play
game 15 - dont play
After the first 15 games.... all restrictions off on usage, mins, position, etc.
Iman Shumpert will start in his debut on Thursday, but he will only play 15 minutes.
We knew Shumpert would be limited when he first got back. Shumpert is expected to play point guard, and Mike Woodson will play him in four-minute stretches.
It will take some time for the sophomore to get back into the swing of things, and it's likely that Shumpert will replace James White in the starting five with Jason Kidd possibly shifting back to shooting guard.
-Marc Berman
I guess Woodson does see the problems with our injuries and that Kidd needs help at the position and also wants Iman to initiate the DEFENSE on the PG as well as offense
The pressure that Iman puts on the PG will be the start of our defensive schemes, allowing the rest of the Knick's the play off that with his pressure and the passing lanes
Iman will be given the chance to hold the position down till Raymond Felton returns
Whether he continues to develop at the PG with Kidd's/Pablo's guidance or if he will be given some PG duties like JR Smith/Melo has with our full roster in the start of our successful start
Raymond Felton is not a true PG neither for anyone that doesn't think Iman can play the position, while Iman can continue to develop
Iman need to improve his ability to penetrate and handle the basketball with consistently, to create high % shots for the team, and shooting the ball when he is open
Hopefully Hopla improves Iman's shot, as he already does have a good form to start with
During his rookie year, Iman was willing to give the ball to Melo everytime he wanted the ball and clear out, which wasn't always the correct decision
He need's to be able to use his ability to penetrate/move the ball/ and have balance to attack our opponents DEFENSE
But DEFENSIVELY, there is no doubt he will be a important key to our schemes
This does suggest that Woody is loyal to his players as he does not want to add players to the roster at the cost of freeing a roster spot
Hopefully Woody and Grunweld can work something out with our injuries, with 10 day contracts, and giving a shot to Kenyon Martin along with a PG
I am ecstatic to see how Iman performs as he continues to get in NBA shape
I wonder if JR Smith is a little pissed about not being able to start a single game this year, while Iman start's his first game back?
