His shooting % is good, turnovers down as he does not get the ball as much. Getting to the three throw line.
His rebounding is improving and his defense is better AT TIMES. He pulled a matador switch last nite and looked silly getting caught on a switch with Teague and covered the passing lane instead. Nobody there to pick the player up.
Amare is a work in progress since he returned. The jumper looks good. IF that continues he'll be even harder to guard.
I dont see much of a difference. He is playing on fresher legs than other players.
For 20 million Im expecting a little more.
It's obvious that he has improved in the post. The good thing is he is looking fluid, no spastic as it he looked before the injury. Good to see his money with Hakeem was well spent.
Seeing improvement in the post game. His turnovers are lower because he is not starting from the foul line with his move. Still a bit clumsy on the catch before the move. Amar'e said he would learn a move, visualize it and then practice it to perfection. My advice; more practice. Another stint at the "Dream camp" would also be in order.
Amar'e has looked good in the post and around the hoop spinning away from opponents, getting in position to do a hook shot and I've seen him hit some turnaround jumpers. Things he clearly was not able to do in the past. Hakeem has obviously helped A LOT.
I've enjoyed watching him try to expand his game- like what I've seen so far. Last season or two it felt like he's just get the ball on the elbow and stand there for 10 seconds before either firing a shot (that went in 2011, and missed 2012), or drive towards the basket and get stripped. Now he's a bit quicker making his move and has all kinds of spinning techniques to avoid turning the ball over while getting closer to the basket. Still room for improvement, but hopefully that will come with time.
Also, something that got lost in the win last night- what do people think about Woodson's supposed comment to ESPN that Amar'e isn't a 30min player anymore. Guess that confirms his knee is arthritic. A shame, but limiting his minutes is the smart thing to do- if he can keep giving us what he's giving us in 20-29 mins then great.
he is also getting the looks JJ would be getting
Defenses and team's are not playing him like a threat with double teams
STAT gets an A for effort but he is just not the same player as he once was and he has a lot of work to do continue to work on his post game

what do you mean by "suppposed" comment? He either said it or didn't or ESPN is just making stuff up?
Perhaps he was just commenting on right now when not 100% ready for full-time action?

Well one of the ESPN commentators during the game claimed Woody had said earlier that Amar'e wasn't a 30 min player anymore. However my doubts arise from the fact that it was Jon barry, and that no other journalist reported it. However, Woody has been keeping Ama're minutes to the mid 20s, and didn't say he has any plans to increase them. Who knows!

I question that as well because I watch the pr-games, post-games, New York Xtra as well as the Woooy show. I haven't heard it anywhere else except from a very "suspect" commentator.

I think Amare needs to run a hardcore fitness drills that concentrates on speed/quickness/coordination/athletisim/agility for an entire summer
Also a better handle, movment off the ball, ability to read DEFENSE and play better DEFENSE, and of course continue to work his Hakeem training
I would love Iman to set something up because we all know about his work ethic and willingness to commit on improving
Watching his intensity to grind it out would feed off each other, being infectious, hope he can organize and get Knick's to participate
He never got the summer he needed after a taste of the NBA to continue to work on his weakness and add to his game
Iman always looks to improve with his work ethic and passion/hunger for the game, a summer of drills/training could improve his game much like the 2nd year of
Westbrook/Rose/Kemba Walker and MANY players in the league, he could come back much closer to Spreewell if all goes well
If he can get team mates like Felton/STAT/MELO/Chandler/JR Smith/Novak *if he can keep him which is possible with his recent slump* to grind it out with him, for a month or so I think it would greatly help team chemistry in addition to their conditioning/physical abilities
Also with our pick this summer, it would just be great for Iman once a recent *rook* to give some advice/mentorship, and guide help develop him

He did that this offseason and it made his knee blow up!

WRONG, he bumped knees with another player.

Bakers cysts are caused usually by arthritis- banging the knee probably exasperated it, but doesn't cause it. I know the official line is 'he banged knees' but the facts say otherwise.
I think its a mixture of multiple selections. Amare is still prone to losing the ball and turning it over when he makes his moves. Even with that fact he has obviously improved his postup game a ton. It looks like he was the only big man serious about learning from The Dream.

well Hakeem did have a few choice words about Dwights lack of maturity. Word is he refused to work with Howard anymore.

I don't know about Baker cysts specifically but, as a kid I was in a car accident. The impact caused my face (mouth area) to strike the dashboard and as a result of the impact, I developed an oral cyst. So, I do know they can develop as the result of collision impact.
Folks he wil NEVER be a $20 million dollar player again. His knees are shot, he cant play more than 30mins a game and he doesnt have the explosiveness anymore. However, that doesnt mean he cant be a productive player. Someone mentioned it earlier, but he makes his move QUICKLY instead of standing for 10 seconds. He may look spastic but his turnovers are less and at the very least it seems like he gets fouls.
The number junkies got to love Mirage-Amar'e right?
