its actually only for 30 days till they can trade an amnestied player
You just can't trade the players back to the team that amnestied them
I would have done it for a 2nd round pick but I am not so sure about a future 1st rounder
*mainly since we won't know what to expect with a 2018 pick, it could be the next Alridge/Noah again*
Also I am not sure if I would rather prefer Wright or Brand at his age *being undersized and downhill with athleticism*
At least Wright is extremely lengthy, is a shot blocking presence, and can play Center with ease with his length
I think Carter can still shoot and has good size off the bench
I mean honestly, I would rather just sign Kenyon Martin and add Chris Johnson and Mickael Gelabale which were both extended extra 10 day contracts by the Twolves
I think a 1st round pick that far from now can really bite come back to haunt us again
I do agree we should part ways with of these players that don't contribute much, some have no value on the market, and many play the same positions as each other
After last night Dallas is done imho

I completely agree with that... Cuban probably wants to rip it apart so he can play with his toy in the offseason. So I also think he might favor a trade like this. I doubt the front office would, but I could see the appeal to the owner

He would be perfect and so would Carter. Im not a believer in this team as is. I think its somewhat close--but a deal like this would put us right up at the top. We could rely on these players--they dont need big minutes but with Chandler Amare Brand upfront Carter Felton with JR and Kidd back up all around Anthony--we would be tough to beat. Ill give up a 1 for that easily.
the team could use both. but I'm with Anji, Brand would be perfect with this team - 28 mpg to Brand and 20 mpg to Amar'e. It's almost too perfect

Agreed. Carter is a good 3pt shooter and Brand's jumper is money and would fit very well if they ran the pick n pop with him. He's also decent on the boards. I would definitely approve this move. Doubt Dallas does it, especially if Cuban is still salty about Kidd coming to Gotham
gunsnewing wrote:I don't think that is enough enticing maybe if JR was added but i don't see the Knicks shaking this team up now when they are finally trying to develop some kind of cohesion
getting Vince would more than make up for the loss of Jr on the offensive side but, I think our defense would suffer. JR is a more committed defender and I think that might be more important at this point. Not sure Brand would bring enough to the table to justify weakening our perimeter defense.
Yeah, throw away more draft picks for really aged starphucques. That would surely prove popular around here.
VC has upside, but Brand? He's a minor upgrade over the geriatrics we have now and he's dropping off the charts quickly.
Keep the draft pick, throw in KT with Brewer and a 2nd rounder or two and we also get the rights to AI and it's a deal.
Cuban's just as likely to do that as anything else. Plus, given our recent Mavs history, why would he even consider giving us anything but stale cow pies?
this makes a lot of sense. Brand would be perfect, and Carter is an upgrade over JR.
Heres the problem, you have to include Shump, we arent giving enough and NYK management would do that. After all they peddled Shump for Nash.

One would hope that Grunnie would see how that's currently working itself out and not throw away the time and patience already vested in Shump.
Hope, I said.
This would be the Knicks trade for the prehistoric Brand and VC
Shump
JR
Copeland
Kurt
Brewer
2018 1st rd pick(Lottery pick)
2019 2nd rd pick
you do not include a young prospect that is already a good defender for these guys. Brand is in the twilight of his nba career and an aging Vince. I can see moving JR because Vince brings is the better shooter by far but, not Shump and I don't think that's the homer in me speaking.

thats not homer mate.. just HOPE.
How would you catagorize Nash? Because Knicks tried like hell to S&T Nash using Shump this offseason.
At one point I very excited about the future of this team. We had the stud frontcourt w/ Melo/Amare/Chandler and a young dymanic backcourt of Lin/Shump, a great combo of defense, floor leadership, bla bla bla
Lin gone for nothing and front office did everything they could to trade Shump for a 38 year old PG. I will never root for or be a fan of another NBA team, but loving this one is tough

This
I don't anticipate any Dallas-New York deals, for a while.
JR has a no trade clause, I doubt he agrees to this, and we can't trade a pick either.

I'm not sure that they really were going to add Shump to that deal. Not sure any of us can say that with surety but, to answer your question, seeing Nash and remembering how bad his man on man defense is, I am happy with what we have. Also, who knows how durable he will be down the stretch. He's already missed a bit of time this season.
This teams is not suited for the run and gun; even if we didn't have all the old timers, there aren't enough good shooters on this team to make it work. Amare would have benefited but, I believe the team as a whole would not be as good.
GodSaveTheKnicks wrote:BRIGGS wrote:GodSaveTheKnicks wrote:I would do this trade in a heartbeat. Carter has really added a lot of dimensions to his game and is defending the best he ever has. Brand is solid all around and a great veteran presence all around. but there's no way I see Dallas doing this unless the pick ends up with flimsy protection which I am not down with.
Id let it go with only top 6 protected--that is fair. That would give us a team that could truly truly compete for the next 2 years--what draft pick is worth that?
Isn't one of the most valuable things to have in today's NBA is an All-Star level talent or even a solid starter on a rookie contract?
I get what you're saying that most guys drafted in the Lottery are out of the league by the end of their rookie contract but the chance of catching lightning in a bottle is something I hate giving up.
Examples of lighting in a bottle past pick # 6:
2012 in a "weak draft": Terrence Ross and Andre Drummond are looking solid.
2011: Kemba Walker, Klay Thompson, Kawhi Leonard, SHUMP! Faried, Jimmy Butler, Isiah Thomas (60th pick!)
I mean just from 2011 every single one of those guys would be making a major impact on this season's team in just their 2nd season after a lockout shortened rookie season.
In terms of winning during this Melo/Amare/Chandler era it's hard to say that Vince/Elton Brand are easy to choose over say..Andre Drummond to give Chandler some rest while we still get a monster rebounder, shot blocker, pick and roll finisher. Klay Thompson would be AWESOME in spacing the floor for Melo and a solid defender already.
I think if you look at the history of the draft, you will find that statement to not be accurate..
just go back 10 years and you will see that most lottery picks had pretty productive careers, extended careers.

love Nash but TERRIBLE deal. When we will ever learn? Keep Shump and build. Lin/Shump had great backcourt potential but oh well.
Brand would be great. Maybe we can sign him this summer. He would be perfect at the 4.

you are right about that fish, but I do root for certain players on other teams, and I know it may seem disloyal, I am still a knick fan first, but unfortunately I do follow some other teams now... I have just gotten to that point in my life as a knick fan.... Honestly, this helps me....in an odd way... LOL
