It depends. If PHX is looking to salary dump, White+Copeland+Thomas+Brewer (I think Thomas and Brewer are FA's at the end of the year) and Copeland is a guy with some potential for a rebuilding PHX team.

I don't think Novak or Camby to PHX in a deal for Dudley makes any sense.

Come postseason play, this man can become down right deadly being surrounded by the likes of Felton, J.R, Melo, Stoudemire and Chandler. Which wasn't the case last season where Miami could focus on Novak due to lack of overall ability/talent. Novak has came out of nowhere and emerged into one of the greatest pure shooting three point shooters in the game today. Led the entire league in 3PT shooting percentage last season and also ranks top 5 (4th) only behind the likes of Martin, Curry and Kover and ahead of Ray Allen, Durant, Mike Dunleavy etc, etc.

His three point shooting percentage as of right now? .441%. Reggie Miller was a career .395 shooter from beyond the arc while Bird had a career three point shooting percentage of .376. Not comparing Novak as an overall player to all-time greats but when in regards to shooting? He's as great as they come as a pure shooter. Can change the momentum of a ball game in an instant coming off the bench. .472 and .441 over the past two seasons? It's no longer a fluke, Novak is a special shooter and come postseason play, when opposing defenses are focused on the likes of Felton, J.R Smith (who LOVES Novak), Melo, Stoudemire etc, etc... Novak can get wet and bury teams with his shooting.

Novak is 7th on our team in minutes per game behind Melo, Felton, J.R, Tyson, Kidd and Amar'e. He's more important to our success than people give him credit for. Just having Novak roam the perimeter looking to get off, opens up the entire floor for Melo and Amar'e. Defenses will not leave Novak open. Which opens up our offense for our stars and/or PG's. His defense and rebounding is an issue, but come postseason play? I can't wait for M.S.G to explode as Novak drains momentum changing money balls.

It's just a hunch, but I believe Novak emerges come postseason play here in 2012-2013. I'm not willing to trade one of the NBA's greatest pure shooters.

Look I like Novak but lets not act like he has been lighting it up this year. he has had a bad year compared to last year. Last year he was lights out and this year he only has a handful of good games. Also last postseason the heat took novak out of the equation and many teams have been doing that to him this year

Knicks wall suggesting Dudley and a 1st for Shump.

They are suggesting a first rounder coming back from Phoenix.

Phoenix would be sending the pick.

Exactly. Either we're all in for this year or going to rebuild. And based on the composition of the roster, all in right now would make more sense.
Either way, I don't think Shumpert will ever be as good as Dudley is right now.

Guys, when did Dudley become a world beater? He is a very good role playing SF. Shumpert is a good role playing SG right now. You get rid of Shump and we are right back to giving Kidd major minutes and having to play Brewer.

With me, trading Shumpert has less to do with Shumpert and more to do with how losing him affects the team.

Dudley played SG last year and would likely play that here. Right now, we have a shooting guard who can't shoot anyway.

Damn, reading comprehension, Why would PHX do that? They have possibly two lotto picks coming up.

I have no idea. I thought we would be the ones having to throw in a sweetener if Dudley & Shumpert were being traded.

yeah it is ironic, right now Dudley is the better player, i dont think they like shumpert that much to fork over a good player and a pick.

Dang them giving up a 1st makes me think about giving up on Shump. If they can throw in Morris too it gets interesting. I realize Shump has struggled but he is shooting 43 % which will come down and his fg% will likely go up. I think the team needs both players.

Wow, I think I would do that. Dudley is a nice player who can shoot and should immediately become our starting 2 and Phoenix is in no danger of being good any time soon so a 1st rounder would be awesome from them.

knickscity @ 2/9/2013 10:14 AM
I hope no one seriously thinks this happens.

Actually, I changed my mind and am now not sure. Phoenix has two 1st rounders owed to them from LA in the Nash trade and there's also some convoluted Minnesota/Memphis pick owed to them as well. If we were getting Phoenix's lottery pick it's one thing but those other picks don't hold as much appeal.

I'm down with that. Salary dump plus they get a guy who can score with some potential in Cope

Who you kidding? I'm sure the Knicks are the ones giving up the 1st round pick. Probably a few 1st Rd picks and some 2nd Rd picks to boot and $3mil cash for good measure

They're actually overhyping Dudley, dude is a scrub, just shines on a bad team.
gunsnewing @ 2/9/2013 10:31 AM
How is Dudley defensively? Probably terrible which is why PHX is trading him for Shump
